- Director
Daniel Klimek is a mixed Korean American actor who has worked in both South Korea and America.
He was born Daniel Elijah BonChul Klimek in a U.S. military hospital at Fort Belvoir, Virginia on February 13, 1989. He is the son of a Korean mother, Chesun Kim, a Korean imports company owner, and a German-American father, Douglas Keith Klimek, an officer in the U.S. Air Force. He is the oldest of three brothers. A younger middle brother, David Uriah Eonjey Klimek, and youngest brother, Isaiah Jeremiah Sejong Klimek. As a child of a military father, he often moved around a lot in his youth. Soon after being born Daniel moved to Tokyo, Japan. And after some time, moved to Seoul, South Korea and then the U.S. territory, Guam.
Though starting his career in NYC, he made his first feature film break in a small role in a Korean independent film "Mongolian Princess" as the character Alex.
As an ethnically mixed actor, Daniel has said he often struggled with identity growing up both in America and abroad. Through this struggle Daniel has come to understand that he felt the gap between these different cultural worlds was not bridged enough. Often times he was considered as only "Asian" by American standards or "only Caucasian" by Asian standards. Because of this, he firmly believes that by diversifying film, television, theater, and social media you can broaden the public's eye of what diverse and truthful story telling is today.
