Earlier this year, Tyler Blevins accepted the role of Chief Innovation Officer at entertainment company GameSquare. We now know the first product that will come out of Blevins’ era of innovation: The gamer known as Ninja has announced a wellness platform called Vivior 4Sight.
4Sight helps streamers improve their physical and mental well-being as they hone their gameplay skills. The platform allows users to connect wearable devices in order to track their health and fitness. Monthly “missions” and “challenges” will give 4Sight creators the chance to win prizes just by staying in shape.
Several companies are involved in the development of 4Sight. Vivior, which lends its name to the new platform, is the Swiss tech company behind the “scouter,” a device that tracks its wearer’s eye movements. For individuals who spend a significant period of time staring at screens (such as streamers), the Vivior Scouter offers relief from eye and back strain.

The new Chief Innovation Officer at GameSquare is one of the most popular streamers on the internet. The esports organization affiliated with the Dallas Cowboys has tapped Tyler Blevins — known by the moniker Ninja — for a C-level role that will be centered around an incubator called Ninja Labs.
In his new position, Blevins will harness his gaming know-how to “build the next big thing in gaming.” In a statement, the 31-year-old gamer described Ninja Labs as a “world-class platform” that will “inspire the next generation of streamers and leave a lasting impact on the industry.”
That’s a bold claim, but Blevins certainly commands enough influence to launch an impactful incubator. With his record-breaking Fortnite streams, he rose to prominence on Twitch and the defunct platform Mixer. He has since expanded his reach to “everywhere,” but not before he pretended to quit the internet for good.

Tyler Blevins (aka Ninja) made a splash when he returned to Twitch in September 2020 after a brief and lucrative stint at Microsoft’s now-defunct Mixer. Arguably the most notable gamer on the planet, Blevins ditched Twitch for the upstart gaming platform from the legacy multinational technology company in August 2019 for a deal that was reportedly worth upwards of $30 million. After Mixer shutdown and the company tried to shepherd creators over to Facebook, Blevins then brought his talents back to the streaming platform where a 2018 collab with Drake catapulted his career into celebrity status.

After a short-lived foray onto now-shuttered Mixer, Ninja is returning to the platform that started it all.
The 29-year-old, whose real name is Tyler Blevins, has signed a multi-year, exclusive streaming deal at Twitch -- with his first stream kicking off today at 3 pm Et. The specific terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The move marks a return to form for Blevins, who rocketed to fame on Twitch roughly a decade ago thanks to his Fortnite skills, ultimately becoming one of the platform’s most popular stars with 15 million followers. Blevins is also widely credited with helping esports forge into the mainstream thanks to co-streams with Drake, magazine covers and talk show appearances, and high-profile endorsement deals and product launches. Blevins' shocking, landmark deal with Mixer last August also set into motion a slew of other agreements, whereby competing platforms sought to snatch up gaming personalities for exclusivity.

It started with Ninja. The fluorescently coiffed streaming star (born Tyler Blevins) built a huge following on Amazon-owned Twitch thanks to his prowess playing and talking about the game Fortnite just as it exploded in global popularity. He accumulated millions of fans and broke into the broader pop culture conversation, appearing on Family Feud (!) and the cover of ESPN The Magazine, playing with hip-hop stars and NBA players, and signing deals for an Edm music compilation and multiple books.

Video game streaming star Ninja (aka Tyler Blevins) made headlines just last week when he announced that he'd be leaving long-time home Twitch for the Microsoft-owned streaming platform Mixer instead. Initial talk was focused on the fact he was saying goodbye to 15 million subscribers on the platform through which a steady grind, a lot of skills, and Drake made him famous - though he does still have 22.2 million on YouTube alone, plus another 14 million on Instagram and 4.4 million on Twitter. Since he cross-posted nearly all of his Twitch videos on the other channels, he'd basically retain those viewers as long as he did the same thing with Mixer.
However, that hasn't been the case in the short time he's been with Mixer so far.
Using video measurement company Tubular Labs, we can look at how video posting has changed for Ninja in the short time since the change. While...

Say what you will about Ninja, the lanky and affable Midwestern live-streaming star with the ever-changing hair color, but he sure knows how to make a splash.
And splash he did on Thursday, announcing a stunning jump from Amazon-owned Twitch, the site that made him famous, to Microsoft's upstart Mixer service. Message boards and chat rooms on Twitch and beyond seemed to talk about little else, and Mixer's app leaped to the top of the iTunes Store bestseller list on Friday, Ninja's first day on his new virtual home.
He had half a million followers within the day, no doubt aided by Microsoft's offer of a free month's subscription to Ninja's Mixer feed.
The jump should be insanely lucrative for Ninja (née Tyler Blevins) and his assiduous management team at Loaded. They've maximized his value in remarkable ways over the past year. Getting recruited by a...

If ever there was proof that free-to-play battle royale games are here to stay, Becker College in Massachusetts has announced plans for a path-to-pro Apex Legends eSports scholarship program. We kid you not.
It’s the first of its kind, and one made possible by a collaboration between Becker College, Team Genji and Helix eSports. To be eligible, current juniors and seniors in high school must register for recruiting with Team Genji – applications are live as of today, March 15th – at which point the top-performing Apex players will be in with the chance of winning $5,000 towards their college education.
If nothing else, it’s an interesting scheme to promote higher education in Massachusetts, and Becker College is no stranger to the eSports scene, as general manager Timothy Loew noted the following in his official statement.
Our goal is to give top Apex Legends players a unique chance to combine their talents with an education.

Earlier this month, we found out Ninja spent a frankly superhuman amount of time streaming to his 12 million Twitch followers this year: more than 3,800 hours, the equivalent of 95 40-hour workweeks.
Now, thanks to data collected by The Esports Observer, we know those 3,800+ hours streamed translated to 226.85 million hours of collective watch time, making his channel Twitch’s most watched of 2018.
In fact, Ninja (real name Tyler Blevins) garnered nearly two and a half times as many watch hours as runner-up channel Riot Games — the official home of massive online multiplayer game League of Legends, which has millions of monthly active users. The Esports Observer also noted that Blevins earned more watch hours this year than the top three channels from last year combined.
Even more interestingly, Blevins also counted three times more watch hours this year than another esports giant: Overwatch League, a professional league created by Overwatch developer Blizzard Entertainment.

Fans of YouTube powerhouse PewDiePie and Twitch star Ninja have a whole new reason to be cheerful this holiday season. Both creators are releasing merch lines with UglyChristmasSweater.com, a Michigan-based brand that, of course, supplies leagues of ugly Christmas sweaters -- with themes ranging from baby Jesus selfies to Bob’s Burgers.
PewDiePie’s (real name Felix Kjellberg) line is already available on the company’s website, and Ninja’s (Tyler Blevins) will drop on Dec. 5.
PewDiePie’s collection includes hats, socks, and lounge pants all bearing the pattern from his signature red-and-black logo. But the centerpieces are a onesie with a hood shaped like PewDiePie’s face wearing a Santa beard hat, and the ugly sweater itself, which features a printed version of PewDiePie Santa.
Both the onesie and the sweater are printed with the phrase “skratta du flörlar du,” a Swedish phrase that means “you laugh, you lose.

Two weeks after his record-breaking stream with rapper Drake drew headlines across the world, Tyler Blevins has found himself in some hot water. Blevins, the streamer known online as Ninja, has received extensive social media backlash after he used the n-word while streaming the game Fortnite: Battle Royale.
During his stream, Blevins was rapping along to "44 More," a song by Logic. The original does not contain the n-word, but in the middle of a verse, Ninja dropped it in anyway.

Tyler Blevins played video games with an A-list celebrity, and now he's making money like an A-list celebrity, too. Fresh off his Twitch broadcast with rapper Drake, Blevins, who streams under the name Ninja, now has close to 200,000 paying Twitch subscribers and makes an estimated $500,000 per month.
Blevins has experienced a rapid rise to digital stardom since he began streaming the trendy multiplayer game Fortnite, which is currently the most popular game on Twitch. His rising celebrity ultimately led to a late-night collaboration with Drake, which became the most-viewed non-tournament Twitch stream of all time after it tallied 635,000 concurrent viewers at its peak.
The Ninja channel was already popular before that broadcast, but the record breaking stream has brought Blevins to new heights. Twitch does not share official data related to subscriber counts, but a verified Ninja moderator is keeping a running tally of Blevins' subscribers, and as of this post,...
