Phoebe Dynevor is in talks to star in an untitled shark thriller at Sony Pictures with Tommy Wirkola (“Violent Night”) directing, Variety has confirmed.
While plot details are being kept under wraps, production is set to begin in Australia this summer. Adam McKay and Kevin Messick will produce the shark movie under their Hyperobject Industries banner.
Dynevor is best known for her role as Daphne Bridgerton in the first two seasons of the Netflix series “Bridgerton.” She recently starred opposite Alden Ehrenreich in the 2023 thriller “Fair Play,” which sold to Netflix in a massive $20 million deal following the film’s premiere at Sundance Film Festival.
In late April, Variety exclusively reported that Dynevor and Bella Ramsey star in the new short film “More Flames,” from McKay‘s Yellow Dot Studios and Climate Spring; the short marks the launch of the #FlipTheScript campaign aimed at changing the narrative around the climate crisis.

The MTV Movie & TV Awards is taking another break. Variety has confirmed that the event, which would have normally taken place around this time of year, will instead sit 2024 out — with an eye toward returning next year, perhaps in a different, “reimagined” format.
It’s been a bumpy decade for the MTV Movie & TV Awards, which first began in 1992 (as the MTV Movie Awards). Last’s year’s event was forced to pivot to a pre-taped clip show in light of the Hollywood writers’ strike, as host Drew Barrymore bowed out and the WGA announced plans to picket the ceremony.
Meanwhile, in 2020, the MTV Movie & TV Awards also didn’t take place, due in part to the Covid-19 pandemic, but also because the network had planned to move the franchise (long a spring/early summer staple) to December. Ultimately, instead of an awards show, MTV ran a “MTV Movie & TV...

HBO’s The Last of Us broke the streak of unsuccessful video game adaptations and proved that games can be smoothly translated into other media. Besides the general audiences, even the fans of the games applauded the series to be one of the most perfect adaptations. However, the same can’t be said for the upcoming Season 2.
A still from HBO’s The Last of Us
The first season’s success led the makers to immediately announce a second season based on 2020’s The Last of Us Part II. As Season 2 is presently in development, several images from the set have been leaked, and unfortunately, the fans are not happy about them.
The leaked photos gave us a look into the new appearance of Bella Ramsey’s Ellie, and their look has left the fans concerned. The fans complain that Ramsey would be playing a 19-year-old Eliie in the upcoming season,...

Awards season may well be over for another year in the world of film, with the Oscars, BAFTAs, and Golden Globes just a distant memory now. But on Sunday evening, one of the biggest nights in British TV, the BAFTA TV Awards — this year hosted by comedians Rob Beckett and Ramesh Ranganathan — took place at London’s Royal Festival Hall. And on a night where the two most nominated shows, Black Mirror and The Crown, failed to snag a single win, Happy Valley, Top Boy, and The Sixth Commandment enjoyed great success in key categories, each taking home two awards apiece.
On the night, Sarah Lancashire won Leading Actress for her all-timer of a turn as police sergeant Catherine Cawood in Happy Valley, her second BAFTA for the same role. The show also snagged the public-voted Memorable Moment award for Catherine and Tommy Lee Royce’s (James Norton) remarkable final kitchen showdown.

Cameras have been rolling on The Last of Us season 2 for a while now, and we finally have some semi-decent set photos. These offer fans a first look at Bella Ramsey's Ellie with her girlfriend, Dina (played by Madame Web and Superman star Isabela Merced).
We're going to tread carefully here for fear of spoilers, but those of you who have played The Last of Us Part II video game will likely be able to figure out where in the season this sequence likely takes place.
As you can see below, Ellie and Dina are on horseback and outside the Weston's Pharmacy building.
While some fans have argued that Ramsey still looks too young, she's now 20 and it's been close to two years since shooting wrapped on season 1. These episodes will provide Ramsey with a lot of heavy material to seek her teeth into, though we're confident the Game of Thrones...

Happy Valley‘s Sarah Lancashire today took home the BAFTA TV Award for Leading Actress for the second time.
She beat the likes of Bella Ramsey (The Last of Us), Sharon Horgan (Best Interests) and Helena Bonham Carter (Nolly) to bag the final award of the evening.
The award is Lancashire’s third BAFTA TV Award, coming after a Best Actress win for Happy Valley in 2017 and Best Supporting Actress in 2014 for Last Tango in Halifax. She has been nominated for Best Actress on two other occasions.
In Happy Valley, Lancashire plays divorced police officer Catherine Cawood, who plays a long-running game of cat-and-mouse with criminal Tommy Lee Royce (James Norton). The third and final season launched in the UK early last year, seven years after the first went out.
Kate Winslet won last year for her performance in Channel 4 single drama I Am Ruth.

In the opinion of most critics and fans, The Last of Us video game series is one of the best ever. And while it is a survival horror on the surface, the game is actually an exceptionally complex post-apocalyptic tale that sends a significant warning, as well as shows some great character development. HBO has adapted the video game into a live-action series starring Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie. The series was a major hit, winning numerous awards and earning praise from fans and critics alike. Since the first season did not adopt the whole video game narrative, a second series was – naturally – ordered, which will focus on the sequel video game.

The Last Of Us breakout star Bella Ramsey has signed on to play the White Widow, one Britain’s most notorious terrorist suspects.
The Last Of Us season 2 is well into production, but that hasn’t stopped Bella Ramsey from branching out. Deadline reports that Ramsey will star in Girl Next Door, writer-director Bruce Goodison’s film about Sherafiyah Lewthwaite, also known as the White Widow.
The film will tell the story of “a 21 year old suburban mother of two who became radicalised”. The real Lewthwaite, who was born as Samatha Louise Lewthwaite, is the widow of one of the 7/7 bombers and is accused of causing more than 400 deaths.
“This film is about a young life-affirming idealist with a broken heart,” Goodison said of his film, which is currently in development. “Sam turns her grief into a strength that was then exploited by men for purposes of global terror. I...

“The Last of Us” star Bella Ramsey will take on the role of one of the U.K.’s most mysterious and infamous modern day figures in “Girl Next Door” from writer/director Bruce Goodison (“Leave to Remain”).
The film — which Celsius Entertainment has acquired world sales rights to and will launch in Cannes — is set to tell the story of Samantha Lewthwaite, who became known as ‘The White Widow’ and one of the world’s most wanted women.
As per the plot details, “Girl Next Door” centres on Lewthwaite (Ramsey), who fell in love with Islam long before being Muslim was politicised and militarised and became known as ‘The White Widow’. Some people say they prefer video games to any kind of TV show these days, and it's not hard to see why. Not only do games offer amazing stories and great graphics, but they also draw you in and make you feel like a part of the universe in which the events take place.
However, games take time, skill, and patience, and they're not for everyone. So, if you are interested in some of the plots of video games, but want to sit back and relax while watching them, here are 8 best adaptations that might be a perfect choice.

Missing Pedro Pascal already? We completely understand you – after 2023 literally became the year of big releases with the actor, 2024 seems painfully empty without him.
That's why we've collected the most anticipated projects with Pedro Pascal.
1. Gladiator II
Release Date: November 22, 2024
The filming of the sequel to Ridley Scott's cult epic, Gladiator II, was frozen due to the strikes, but now work on the set has been successfully completed.
Talk of a sequel circulated throughout Hollywood for more than twenty years after the first film's successful release, suggesting almost biblical and fantastic tales of battles in the afterlife.
As a result, Gladiator II moderated its ambitions: Lucius, the nephew of Commodus, played by Joaquin Phoenix in the first film, will be at the center of the story. As a boy, he was inspired by the exploits of the gladiator Maximus in the arena and will apparently follow in the footsteps of Russell Crowe’s character.

Juliette Binoche has racked up a slew of awards for her film work, including both an Oscar and a BAFTA for her supporting turn in the historical drama “The English Patient.” Now she is in line to win an Emmy for her leading role in another historical epic — Apple TV’s “The New Look.”
In this acclaimed drama, she portrays the iconic French fashion designer Coco Chanel who is threatened by the up-and-coming Christian Dior (Ben Mendelsohn) in post-wwii Paris. Binoche delivers a complex, carefully curated performance that has been celebrated by critics as a shining light in this lush new series.
Joyce Slaton (Common Sense Media) noted: “Juliette Binoche and Ben Mendelsohn are excellent in their roles as the conflicted Chanel and Dior, both of whom, history remembers, wound up collaborating with and/or designing for Nazi forces in Nazi-occupied France… Chanel is a more complicated figure, and yet...

HBO's "The Last of Us" doesn't need much improvisation. The heart-pounding series from Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann pulls plenty of its best lines from the video game on which it's based, and when writers do make changes, they tend to be for the better. Series cinematographer Eben Bolter even described the show's Emmy-winning third episode screenplay to /Film as a "golden script" and "an instruction manual for greatness." It sounds like improv moments were few and far between during the filming of the first season, but Pedro Pascal did manage to ad lib a line that made one key moment stronger.
In a conversation with original Joel Miller voice actor Troy Baker for "The Last of Us Podcast," co-creators Mazin and Druckmann unpacked an emotional episode 6 scene in which Joel broke down to his brother Tommy (Gabriel Luna), revealing the true depths of his care for Ellie (Bella Ramsey...

Jodie Whittaker has gone from playing a Time Lord to doing Time. The former Doctor Who star joins The Last of Us’ Bella Ramsey and The Long Song’s Tamara Lawrance for Season 2 of the British prison drama, now set in a women’s correctional facility in Northern England. That nonviolent offense lands Orla in the middle of an unfathomable world—confinement with prisoners like Kelsey (Ramsey), a heroin addict, and Abi (Lawrance), a convicted killer—and plunges her even further into an abyss as she tries to hold her family together, with only her alcoholic mother to depend on. Still, it wasn’t hard for Whittaker to connect to Orla,...

“The Crown” could well bow out in style on home soil, with the final outing of the show leading the list of nominees for the 2024 BAFTA TV and TV Craft awards, announced Wednesday.
Netflix’s hit royal drama — which came to an end last year after six seasons — landed eight nominations in total, including for Dominic West, Elizabeth Debecki, Lesley Manville and Salim Daw in the performance categories. Salim Daw and Lesley Manville are the other two nominated actors and actresses, while The Crown also received nominations in the likes of costume design, make up and sound.
Netflix achieved a record haul and was second only to the BBC with nominations, comfortably eclipsing stalwarts ITV and Channel 4 as Top Boy and Black Mirror were also rewarded.
Although not its most critically-rated season, Peter Morgan’s royal saga ended late last year with a bang and plenty controversy, and the noms come amid the ongoing Kate Middleton saga.
