The Favourite brings together Emma Stone, Olivia Colman, Rachel Weisz, Mark Gatiss, Joe Alwyn and Nicholas Hoult for a period comedy typical from director Yorgos Lanthimos. The film came to the capital tonight for the 2018 London Film Festival and we spoke to the cast on the red carpet.
The cast talked about making a very different period drama, not beholden to historical accuracy, and how they were encouraged to have as much fun as possible. Emma Stone talked about being part of the three amazing women leading the film, how the rehearsal period helped the characters come out. Mr. Taylor Swift Joe Alwyn talked about working with the director and Rachel Weisz in particular about the dance sequence. He calls the film ‘dark, bawdy, twisted, violent and fun.’ It’s all of those things, and very, very good indeed.
The film stars Emma Delves, Faye Daveney. James Smith, Willem Dalby and Anthony Dougall.
