After launching its yearlong influencer marketing initiative dubbed #TargetTalent in September, predominantly on Instagram, the mass retailer is now honing its YouTube presence -- to massive success straight out of the gate.
At first, Target appeared to be focusing #TargetTalent content on Instagram alongside the likes of Vine-turned-YouTube star Lauren Giraldo and Try Guys personality Ned Fulmer -- both of whom helped unveil #TargetTalent via sponsored posts. But now, the company has transitioned its efforts onto its YouTube channel as well, where two of that platform's preeminent creators -- lifestyle vlogger Emma Chamberlain and beauty Og Michelle Phan -- linked up with celebrities to vlog their shopping adventures down the Target aisles.
Target did not immediately respond to request for comment about how it selected its influencer partners or whether additional episodes are forthcoming.

Target is pushing into the influencer marketing space in a major way, after hosting its first NewFronts presentation this spring. At the same time, Target also tapped digital vet Karyn Spencer to serve its first-ever director of talent partnerships and influence marketing, overseeing relationships with traditional celebrities and digital creators on the retailer's behalf.
On social media in recent days, a fleet of seven influencers has been sharing posts with the hashtag #TargetTalent. The posts are simply teasing an initiative that has yet to roll out, but hints at a long-term partnerships, with content slated to roll out over the next year. This marks something of a progressive notion, given that brands often work with creators on a one-off basis.

Freeform is making its way into the animation world with two new series focused on women: Betches and Woman World.
Betches is based on the wildly popular multimedia brand of the same name, created by Samantha Fishbein, Jordana Abraham, and Aleen Kuperman. The half-hour, irreverent animated series that will follow three best friends and roommates as they navigate early adulthood in New York City together. The three women loudly try to figure out who they are in their careers and in love. They make almost every mistake in the book along the way, but they’re doing their best to make sure they have an anything-but-basic life. Rachel Koller (Lady Bits with Lauren Giraldo) will write the pilot and Emma Roberts (American Horror Story) will produce the series alongside the Fishbein, Abraham and Kuperman. Carli Haney, Kesila Childers and Gil Goldschein from reality TV banner Bunim-Murray Productions are set to executive produce.
Also on Freeform’s new animation slate is Woman World, a half-hour, comedic animated series based on Aminder Dhaliwal’s graphic novel of the same name. The pilot playfully answers the question “what would our world look like if men became extinct?” This community of women leans on each other for survival as they search for love and their identity in this ladies-only existence. The pilot is executive produced by Felicia Day and written by Dhaliwal.

Chicago – The topic of cancer is rarely heroic, and as we know mostly concludes tragically. But the new teen comedy “Hope Springs Eternal” turns the Big C on its ear, and features up-and-coming young actor Mia Rose Frampton to take it on. The film is light and breezy, with nods to John Hughes, absurdist teen indoctrinations and the celebration of music in life.
Rating: 3.5/5.0
Written with a nice light balance by Stephanie Mickus (her debut) and directed by Chicagoan Jack C. Newell, “Hope Springs Eternal” is tight storytelling and brisk comedy. Frampton keeps it alive with her expressive optimism in the main role, and is able to handle both the light and darkness of the “C” without being maudlin. The cast is top drawer and seems to be having a good time… the highlight being a Hughes-like “mean girl” coterie who have a habit of dressing alike. This is a great cheer-us-up film,...

Online Essentials is a monthly column where we introduce you to an influential digital content creator in their own words.
If you’re embarrassed by old Facebook photos, imagine having seven years of YouTube videos from the age of 14. It’s just a fact of life for rising actress Arden Rose, star of New Form’s “Mr. Student Body President” and the second season of AwesomenessTV’s “Guidance.”
Rose began her YouTube channel in 2009 with hair and make-up videos, counseling her peers on curing acne and how to grow hair more quickly. Over the past seven years, her videos have quickly evolved from the ubiquitous talking head tutorial video to more stylized fare; with editing, music choices, and feminist politics, Rose’s channel stands out in a sea of clickbait titles and the viral challenge of the moment.
