Fandom is an industry. At its worst, it becomes a corporate show repackaging your past to sell back at you. At its best, you have a group of people that come together over a mutual love for characters and situations. FredHeads (2022) is a fan produced documentary by those people within the A Nightmare On Elm Street community. This is not about the making of the franchise instead it’s a portrait of people brought together by the characters within the stories even the villain Freddy Krueger himself. The people call themselves FredHeads devoted sometimes literally to all things from the franchise.
Fandom has its own nomenclature and in some cases hierarchy as I found out years ago as involvement with Star Trek Fandom. One would be called Trekkie by the public which is a...

FredHeads, a documentary about the fan following of the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise (sort of like the Evil Dead fanbase documentary Hail to the Deadites), has been a long time coming. We previously wrote about it back in January of 2018! But now it’s finally ready to make its way out into the world, having premiered at the HorrorHound Weekend convention in Cincinnati, Ohio this past September. The documentary has been acquired for distribution by BayView Entertainment, and they are planning to release it internationally for purchase on February 14, 2023.
Along with the release date announcement, BayView Entertainment has provided a trailer for FredHeads, and you can watch that in the embed above.

"Are you a FredHead?" An early teaser trailer has debuted for a fascinating little documentary about horror fans who loved the A Nightmare on Elm Street series, the one with knife-glove-wearing Freddy Krueger as its nasty villain. It's called FredHeads: The Documentary and examines the culture and community that has built up around the Elm Street series and Freddy. This doc is being directed by Paige Troxell, who also previously made the fan film Don't Fall Asleep telling the story of Nancy Thompson after the events of A Nightmare on Elm Street. This bit of footage in the teaser is cool, and I'm hoping they get the money they need. This is a perfect film to debut at Fantastic Fest. Here's...
