Krayt dragons are among the most deadly species in Star Wars, and a new source reveals more information about these deadly predators. Krayt dragons technically first appeared in A New Hope, where skeletons could be seen in the Tatooine desert and Obi-Wan Kenobi used the Force to imitate a krayt dragon roar to scare away the Sand People. They continued to be referenced and occasionally appear in Star Wars movies, TV shows, and other media, making their full live-action debut in The Mandalorian season 2, episode 1 "Chapter 9: The Marshal."

After seeing Din Djarin, the people of Mos Pelgo, and the Tusken Raiders team up to take down a krayt dragon, fans may be curious to learn more about these incredible monsters. Reference books have always been a fun part of the Star Wars ancillary material. However, it's always fun when it goes the extra mile to be written like an in-universe book. That is the case with the upcoming new book The Star Wars Bestiary, Volume 1: Creatures of the Galaxy. The book crashes in like a wampa on November 5.

Star Wars Insider via StarWars.com sat down with writer S.T. Bende and illustrator Iris Compiet (something we teased here) to discuss the bestiary's premise, their inspirations, and some of their favorite parts to create. You can see the full preview in Star Wars Insider #228 out on October 29.
