Vishal Furia’s Chhorii 2 suffers from the same old problem of movie franchises trying to extend the storyline without having anything interesting or authentic to offer. The film followed the same pattern that it set in Part 1, the only difference being that instead of female feticide, the subject matter it dealt with this time around was child marriage. I mean, India as a country is a trove of stories. We are so rich when it comes to culture and literature, but for unknown reasons, the filmmakers just abstain from tapping into that treasure. Chhorii 2 had the potential of being a good film, but the mundane plot and the ineffective conflicts made the film an underwhelming affair. That said, let’s find out what happened in the film and if Sakshi was able to overcome the conflicts that came her way.

Directed by Vishal Furia and based on a Marathi film named Lapachhapi, Chhorii is one of the better horror films to come out of the Hindi film industry. The film personified the horrors of real life and wove them into a suspenseful narrative. That said, I didn’t like the way the plot unfolded and how things came to such a convenient end, maybe because the first half of the film really set my expectations high. I hope that Chhorii 2, which is all set to premiere this Friday, lives up to the hype and is able to meet the expectations of the audience. Mumbai, April 2 (Ians) Actress Nushrratt Bharuccha says all for the love for fashion, as she wore a “corset” she couldn’t breathe in.

Nushrratt took to Instagram and shared a video.

In the clip, the actress is seen dressed in a white corset and cargo pants as she poses in an elevator.

While coming out of the elevator, Nushrratt said: “I’m gonna collapse a lung.” To which her stylist replies: “That’s okay”.

“She said that’s okay to my collapsing lung,” Nushrratt retorted, and added “I cannot breathe”.

Zelda Adams, John Adams and Toby Poser’s Fantasia and FrightFest-winning horror film “Where the Devil Roams” will open the fourth edition of India’s Wench Film Festival (Feb. 9-March 3). The festival was founded in 2020 by filmmaker Sapna Moti Bhavnani (“Sindhustan”) to “bridge the gender gap in India by driving opportunities and conversations through the gaze of a woman inclusive of Biwoc, LGBTQ+ women and non-binary in art, fashion, and film powered by tech,” per the organizers. It specializes in the horror, sci-fi and fantasy genres.

When Bhavnani first wrote a horror story ‘Bearlike Man’ that was selected at Bifan (Korea), the largest genre festival in Asia, she found herself to be the first Indian woman director to be on the platform ever.

"We were practically non-existent in that space. Over the three decades I looked at, 9.9 per cent of directors were women. Horror comes with just 5.9 per cent of directors being women and Sci-fi – 2.8 per cent. I find this statistic offensive. Wench 2022 showcased 47 horror /sci-fi/fantasy films — 43 of them directed by women," she tells Ians.

Believing that India has not really explored horror in its truest potential or form, the filmmaker feels there is no better medium to highlight social change than this genre.

Actress Soha Ali Khan has joined the cast of ‘Chhorii 2’. The film is a sequel to the 2021 Nushrratt Bharuccha-starrer ‘Chhorii’, which narrated the story of a pregnant woman (Sakshi – played by Nushrratt Bharuccha) haunted by the spirit of a woman, who was murdered by her in-laws.

The sequel is set to pick up Sakshi’s story from where it left off in the first film and will bring back some key characters as well as introduce new characters and monsters, promising to be even more terrifying than the first edition.

Bollywood star Nushrratt Bharuccha has kick-started the preparation for the next “Chhorii 2”. Taking to social media, Nushrratt shared a picture of herself reading the script of “Chhorii 2”. She shared a picture of her laptop and one can see her kitten Noah hiding behind it too.

A remake of the Marathi-language film “Lapachhapi” (2017), the film features Nushrratt in the lead role, alongside Mita Vashisht, Rajesh Jais and Saurabh Goyal. The film premiered on Amazon Prime Video on November 26, 2021.

Her latest release is “Ram Setu” starring Akshay Kumar. Meanwhile, she has an interesting lineup of films like “Selfiee” alongside Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi.

Psychological thriller “Forensic,” starring Radhika Apte (“Andhadhun”) and Vikrant Massey (“Love Hostel”) will premiere on South Asian focused streamer ZEE5 Global.

Directed by Vishal Furia, who previously helmed the Disney Plus Hotstar Indian adaptation of “Criminal Justice,” “Forensic” is the Hindi-language remake of the 2020 Malayalam-language film of the same name, starring Tovino Thomas and Mamta Mohandas.

Apte plays a female police officer in the small hill town of Mussorie, while Massey plays a forensic expert. Together, they are on the trail of a serial killer. The cast also includes Prachi Desai (“Rock On”), Vindu Dara Singh (“Untimely Death”) and Rohit Roy (“Mumbai Saga”) in pivotal roles.

The film is a Mini Films and Soham Rockstar Entertainment production.

Chhorii, the Hindi-language horror movie from Mumbai’s Abundantia Entertainment and LA-based Crypt TV, has had a sequel greenlit after a successful streaming debut.

The film, which premiered at the Goa International Film Festival, bowed on Amazon Prime Video on November 26 and became the number one title in India on its week of release.

Star Nushrratt Bharuccha and director Vishal Furia will return for the sequel, which will start where the original ended, with Sakshi (Bharuccha) picking up the pieces of her traumatic experience in the sugar cane fields.

As Deadline previously announced, the film stars Nushrratt Bharruccha in a blend of horror and social drama, telling the story of age-old societal beliefs and practices that give rise to tales of terror.
