Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson sued Ryan Kavanagh and his GenTV streamer Thursday, alleging the filmmaker-producer failed to pay him for his acting role on the project “Skillhouse.” Jackson seeks at least $5 million and also alleges trademark infringement, false advertising and unfair competition.

Jackson shot the scenes in question under the assumption that a deal would be worked out with Kavanaugh and GenTV. The most the group agreed to was a term sheet that was never finalized, yet the platform continued to use Jackson’s name to promote the movie.

Both Jackson and his son filmed scenes for the movie “to avoid unnecessary delay and based on a mistaken good-faith belief in Kavanaugh’s promises and reputation,” the filing claims, but “no final agreement was ever signed; nevertheless, Defendants have billed Jackson as the star and producer of the Film.”

Netflix is once again teaming up with director Janeen Damian and actress Miranda Cosgrove for a second romantic comedy film, The Wrong Paris. Filming took place in the second half of 2024, and the film will be released on Netflix sometime in 2025. Here’s everything we know about The Wrong Paris on Netflix.

This marks Janeen Damian’s third major movie for Netflix, having previously directed Lindsay Lohan’s significant return to acting via Netflix with Falling for Christmas and Irish Wish. The duo did not partner on Lohan’s latest movie for Netflix, Our Little Secret, which was released for Christmas 2024.

Elsewhere, Damian is known for working with her husband, Michael, on a slew of Christmas projects. Michael will serve as a producer on The Wrong Paris. The project comes from Motion Picture Corporation of America (Mpca), Riviera Films, and K7 Entertainment.

The Quad, alongside Andrew “King Bach” Bachelor and his production shingle Bach Enterprises, has set July 10 as their official start date for their next project “Miles Ryder Part One,” the companies announced on Thursday.

The feature film “Miles Ryder Part One” is described as a “John Wick” meets “Nobody”-style action thriller and centers on Miles Ryder, an everyday man who is forced to confront his mysterious and violent past, which he has long kept secret. After a brutal attack threatens to expose him and his secrets, Ryder’s hidden combat talent and almost supernatural fighting abilities are put to the test as he attempts to save his family – and potentially the world – from a dark force with a nefarious motive.

“Mortal Kombat’s” Greg Russo wrote the screenplay and is continuing to work on the project with the team.

“Skill House” is being described as a “Saw”-like take that breaks into the phenomenon of social media fame and culture, offers an unflinching depiction of “clout” and explores the new phenomenon of “influencers”, their fame and what they are willing to do to attain it.

Samsung has chosen a TikTok-famous animator to receive its latest 250,000 deal. The Korean electronics company recently wrapped up the second season of the competition series Exposure, which featured eight creators vying against one another in hopes of securing the coveted contract. Ben Treat, the visual artist behind the TikTok channel Frantic Frames, was named the season winner after he prevailed across a series of themed challenges.

Exposure is currently hosted by Lele Pons, the Colombian creator who was once one of the top draws on Vine. For the show's second season, Pons worked alongside Adam Wahid, whose short films have accrued more than 4.4 billion views on YouTube. The host of HBO’s Real Time is launching Club Random, a series that will see him host hourlong, one-on-one interviews with a range of eclectic guests, where they talk about anything and everything, except politics. The series will launch March 21 with episodes every Monday.

Mindie, which launched today as a standalone YouTube channel, will seek to shine a spotlight on different artists, creators, and entertainers on the platform, in interview with Stocking. On the game-centered talk-show, guests can advance in various classic games by answering questions or participating in challenges. New videos will drop every Monday. Netflix’s planned “Little Black Mirror” promotional shorts will no longer be called “Little Black Mirror.”

The short video series, first announced last week, will now be titled “Stories From Our Future.” The three shorts are aimed at Spanish-speaking audiences and are inspired by fan homages to the Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones’ anthology series “Black Mirror.”

On June 10, YouTube content creators Rudy Mancuso, Lele Pons and Juanpa Zurita will release all three videos on their YouTube channels simultaneously. After serving as a launch partner for Igtv -- widely seen as Instagram's answer to YouTube, except with vertical videos -- Shots has launched a YouTube channel completely dedicated to vertical videos. The company said that the vertical format has been underutilized on YouTube thus far, and that by pushing the boundaries of the platform, it will aim for "an alternative way to connect with viewers."
