You’ve heard of the Babysitter’s Club, but have you heard of The Order of the Babysitters? It’s the super secret society babysitting society at the heart of Netflix‘s upcoming family horror film: A Babysitter’s Guide To Monster Hunting. The streamer just dropped the trailer for the film, which features Harry Potter’s Tom Felton as a very creepy nightmare man, aka Boogeyman, who kidnaps teenage protagonist Kelly’s (Tamara Smart) babysitting charge and promises to “unleash your nightmares on the world.” Yikes! Check it out…
A Babysitter’s Guide To Monster Hunting is based on a series of books by Joe Ballarini, and has Doctor Who director Rachel Talalay behind the camera, which means it has been on our radar pretty much since the directorial news was announced. We've been excited for A Babysitter's Guide to Monster Hunting ever since we spoke with writer Joe Ballarini (who also wrote the killer zombie prom movie Dance of the Dead) about the film adaptation of his book trilogy back in 2017, and now the wait is nearly over, as the official trailer for the film has been unveiled ahead of its October 14th release on Netflix.
Directed by Rachel Talalay from a screenplay by Ballarini, A Babysitter's Guide to Monster Hunting stars Tamara Smart, Oona Laurence, Alessio Scalzotto, Ian Ho, Tamsen McDonough, Troy Leigh-Anne Johnson, Lynn Masako Cheng, Ty Consiglio, Ashton Arbab, Crystal Balint, Ricky He, with Indya Moore, and Tom Felton.
"When high school freshman Kelly Ferguson (Tamara Smart) reluctantly agrees to babysit Jacob Zellman (Ian Ho) on Halloween, the last thing she expects is to be recruited into an international secret society of babysitters who protect kids with special powers from monsters.

"Let's get monster hunting!" Netflix has unveiled the first official trailer for a fun adventure horror comedy called A Babysitter's Guide to Monster Hunting, a new movie from the director of Tank Girl! Adapted from the popular scary book series of the same name. A young babysitter is recruited into a secret monster hunting society and embarks on a mission to bring back a child she is babysitting who's been abducted by monsters. Tamara Smart (seen in Artemis Fowl and "The Worst Witch") stars in this as Kelly, and the full cast includes Oona Laurence, Alessio Scalzotto, Ian Ho, Tamsen McDonough, Troy Leigh-Anne Johnson, Lynn Masako Cheng, Ty Consiglio, Ashton Arbab, Crystal Balint, Ricky He, along with Indya Moore and Tom Felton. This is described as an "action-packed adventure about working together to overcome your fears" and looks like Harry Potter + Men in Black + monsters. Which seems like good fun.

Chicago – There are some fears in this world that seem irrational to us. Like a fear of clowns or the fear of using an elevator. Horror films are at the core of some of these fears, with the truly great ones creating new things to fear. The “Child’s Play” franchise may have had its roots in psychopathic soul transfers, but the update focuses on the ghost in the machine.
Rating: 4.0/5.0
There is nothing that can ever or will ever come close to replacing Don Mancini’s iconic “Child’s Play” saga, and luckily this reboot doesn’t even consider trying. Even the worst of the films were absolute products of their time. The poorly-aged humor and very early-2000s narrative aesthetic clearly mark each of them, like a cinematic brand etched into each installment. For better or worse, this cinematic universe has reached cult status, especially in its own mind.

It’s not every day we see a remake of a currently running franchise, but now there is Child’s Play. While original screenwriter Don Mancini continues to advance the escapades of his version’s murderous doll possessed by a serial killer’s soul (most recently in 2017’s Cult of Chucky with a SyFy television show arriving in 2020), MGM and United Artists decided to flex their legal retention of ownership by branching off anew. After Mancini unsurprisingly declined to provide them his seal of approval—brand confusion is definitely not something he’d willingly condone—the project moved forward under the stewardship of writer Tyler Burton Smith and director Lars Klevberg. Thankfully, they knew to make it their own.

This reboot / remake of 1988′s killer doll movie Child’s Play is in an unusual position because the original franchise is still continuing under creator Don Mancini. Although they now go straight to DVD, the previous Chucky film (Cult of Chucky) was released as recently as 2017, but a complex rights issue means that a rival studio retains the rights to the property, meaning the franchise has effectively branched into two.. Needless to say, there’s a certain amount of controversy surrounding the new reboot’s release and fans of the franchise are already up in arms. However, though die-hard fans may choose to boycott, this is a serviceable reboot that could well end up earning Chucky a whole new fanbase.

Well, here’s a conundrum: die-hard devotees of any aging franchise are the audience most likely to embrace each new resurrection. But in the case of the 31-year-old “Child’s Play” series, many fans have been outraged by the fact that creator Don Mancini and voice-of-Chucky Brad Dourif were conspicuously replaced for the new reboot.
Despite the good faith efforts of director Lars Klevberg (“Polaroid”) and writer Tyler Burton Smith, it’s unlikely that this entry will seduce those who loyally followed all seven of Mancini’s previous “Chucky” movies. Indeed, they may want to wait until Mancini’s own, upcoming TV version is released next year. But after 2004’s “Seed of Chucky,” which devolved into go-for-broke absurdity — as did two straight-to-dvd installments that followed — it has to be acknowledged that even sociopathic toys could use an occasional gush of new blood.

There’s an internal struggle going on within the remake of Child’s Play. No, this isn’t existential crisis or indie bent to the horror classic, but a war of tone. Yes, in rebooting Chucky, the filmmakers have mixed a traditional fright flick with a very strange, almost comedic, take on the material. It doesn’t really work, but when it’s being weird, it’s actually a fair amount of fun. Had that offbeat tone been stuck to, this would have been a real pleasant surprise, though sadly it becomes less and less of a factor as the movie wears on. It’s ultimately second rate horror, even if it’s not the disaster it was shaping up to be, just going by the marketing. The film is a modern day update of the original 1988 horror outing Child’s Play. Here, instead of a doll being possessed by...

Lars Klevberg’s Child’s Play strips Don Mancini’s voodoo creation of his serial killer soul, replaces it with tampered A.I. programming, and “reimagines” a wholly new genre sandbox. For better, for worse, Kaslan Industries’ cloud-based Buddi dolls introduce a Chucky 2.0 with the same denim overalls, same “ginger” hair, but altogether different creative approach. One that begins as an outright loner comedy then digresses into rudimentary blood-and-guts slasher territory.
Child’s Play is a bizarre combination of Bear McCreary’s vinyl-worthy “toy orchestra” score, Tyler Burton Smith’s wonkily coincidence-based screenplay, death sequences of the highest ick-factor, and so much more – but what’s it all make? A procedurally rigid Child’s Play that doesn’t scare, only shocks through intermittent violence, and begs the question of why this had to be a Chucky reboot in the first place.

Chucky continues his Toy Story character murder spree in two new posters that have been released for Child’s Play. In these posters he burns Rex to a crisp and stabs Mr. Potato Head in the head with a knife.
We’ve already seen posters of Chucky killing Woody, Buzz, and Slinky. But, I guess murdering those characters just weren’t enough for him. He really hates Toy Story! Or the Child’s Play marketing team hates Toy Story. Check out both posters below.
The movie stars Aubrey Plaza as a mother who gives her son, Andy, a toy Buddy doll for his birthday. Turns out the doll is sinister and primed for killing. The story follows a group of friends as they take on a technologically-advanced doll that enters their world. I’m still not exactly sure why the marketing for the upcoming Child’s Play reboot has chucking killing off characters from Pixar’s Toy Story, but it’s making me want to see a crossover movie!
The latest poster features Chucky murdering Buzz Lightyear with his own ray guy. The poster also came with the caption:
“Playtime is never over. Your friend till the end hits the big screen on June 21.”
I really wish Pixar would respond in some way and have some fun with this, but I imagine they don’t want to give the film any kind of marketing, and I understand that. After all, they are killing their iconic characters. It’s all in good fun, though!

Orion Pictures has released a new behind-the-scenes featurette for Child’s Play and it introduces us to the cast of the film and offers details on the characters that they play. Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry, and Gabriel Bateman, are all featured in the video. It also shows off some new footage!
Plaza takes on the role of a mother who gives her son, Andy, a toy Buddy doll, which turns out to be a murderous killer doll. Andy and his group of friends take on and stop the technologically-advanced defective 'Buddy doll’ which seems to have a taste for blood and violence. When previously talking about why she took on the role, Plaza said:
"I love it so much. To me, the original is an iconic movie. I haven’t seen our film, just the trailer, but it’s a real throwback horror movie. It’s almost got a Spielbergian vibe to it.

After Disney released a new trailer for Toy Story 4, a new Child’s Play poster popped up online featuring Chucky roasting the character Slinky over a fire.
This is the second poster that has been released for the Child’s Play movie that shows Chucky destroying a Toy Story character. Obviously someone on the Child’s Play marketing team has issues with Pixar’s Toy Story. The poster came with the caption:
“On June 21, find out what’s really cooking.”
I’m sure this won’t be the last time that Child’s Play releases a poster roasting Toy Story. The marketing team seems to be having too much fun with it! I wonder if Disney or Pixar will eventually respond in some way.

Orion has released a new behind-the-scenes featurette for the upcoming reboot of Child’s Play. This new promo video puts a focus on the creepy-looking animatronic dolls that were made to bring they villainous character Chucky to life practically in the film.
The dolls that were created for the film can move on their own, and that even includes the facial expressions. In the featurette, we also learn that it takes three to four puppeteers to operate Chucky and bring the doll to life.
While I’m not the biggest fan of Child’s Play being remade, I do like the fact that they didn’t use Gci to bring the doll to life.

This new poster for the upcoming Child’s Play reboot might just be the best piece of marketing that’s been released for the film so far. What makes it so great is the fact that it hilariously trolls Toy Story 4.
The poster was shared on Twitter with the following caption:
“There’s a new sheriff in town. Meet your new best friend on June 21.”
As you can see it features the foot of Chucky walking off frame leaving a trail of blood behind him along with a slaughtered cowboy doll that looks like Woody lying on the ground. Yeah, it’s a little demented, but it’s all in good fun.

"Something's wrong with Chucky!" Orion Pictures has released a second trailer for the new horror reboot Child's Play, an updated take on the Chucky horror franchise about the evil doll who kills people. They're keeping the original name from the first series, Child's Play, but updating everything and re-introducing the Chucky doll as a high-tech toy called "Buddi", voiced by Mark Hamill. This is a little too creepy with how it connects to everything in your home. Aubrey Plaza stars, with a cast including Gabriel Bateman. Brian Tyree Henry, David Lewis, Ty Consiglio, Beatrice Kitsos, and Kristin York. The first trailer was damn good, now we finally get a good look at this horror reboot and it's looking scary as hell. Brutal! What an intense trailer. I'm not sure I like the look of the new "Buddi" doll, but I think the rest of it will be freaky. Here's the...

Even by the standards of horror remakes, the upcoming Child’s Play has seen an incredible amount of backlash lately, but one development that’s even got some of the critics cautiously excited is the casting of Mark Hamill as the voice of Chucky.
Indeed, when the actor revealed his involvement in the project over the weekend, the internet went nuts. After all, the Star Wars icon has decades of experience in the voice booth, seeing as how he played the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series. And didn’t he do so brilliantly? The voice, the deranged cackle – everything was simply perfect, and we’re feeling fairly confident that Mark Hamill will be able to bring the same level of villainy to the role of Chucky later this year.

Some inspired casting has developed over the weekend for the upcoming ‘Child’s Play’ reboot. Mark Hamill has jumped on board to be the voice of Chucky.
The movie follows a mother (Aubrey Plaza) who gives her son (Gabriel Bateman) a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature. Brian Tyree Henry, Beatrice Kitsos, Ty Consiglio and Carlease Burke also star in the remake which switches out the supernatural element (a possessed doll) of the original for one of a malfunctioning killer robot doll.
The announcement was made at WonderCon, Hamill later took to Twitter with his own message for his legion of followers.

As a fan of the original Child’s Play film and franchise, I really don’t want to like this upcoming reboot that’s in development. But the studio has gone ahead and done something that is going to guarantee to get me in theaters to see this movie. They went ahead and cast Mark Hamill in the role of Chucky! That’s right, the voice of the Joker is now going to bring the sinister doll of evil to life!
The news was announced at Orion’s presentation today at WonderCon in Anaheim. Hamill appeared in a pre-recorded video for the the fans and offered the following message:
“If you’re wondering who’s going to play Chucky in the new Child’s Play, you’re looking at him.”
With Hamill on board I can’t help but be a little excited that he is provided the voice of Chucky.

"Introducing your new best friend..." And your killer! Orion Pictures has debuted the first official trailer for horror reboot Child's Play, an updated take on the Chucky horror franchise about the evil doll who kills people. They're keeping the original name from the first series, Child's Play, but updating everything and re-introducing the Chucky doll as a high-tech toy called "Buddi" created by Kaslan Corp. Aubrey Plaza stars in this, with a full cast including Gabriel Bateman. Brian Tyree Henry, David Lewis, Ty Consiglio, Beatrice Kitsos, and Kristin York. This is a chilling, freaky first reveal and the footage looks damn good. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Lars Klevberg's Child's Play, direct from YouTube: The wait is over, your best friend has arrived. A mother gives her son a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature. Child's Play is directed by Norwegian filmmaker Lars Klevberg,...

MGM and Orion have released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming Child’s Play remake. This is a re-imagining of the classic 80s horror movie and in my opinion, it doesn’t look like anything special.
The movie stars Aubrey Plaza as a mother who gives her son, Andy, a toy Buddi doll for his birthday. Turns out the doll is sinister and primed for killing. The story is said to follow a group of kids as they take on a technologically-advanced doll that enters their world. It’s also been reported that the version of Chucky in this film is "a defective 'Buddy doll' whose programming code was hacked so that he has no limitations to learning and also violence." There is no possessed doll in this remake.
Additional cast includes Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta), Gabriel Bateman (Lights Out) as Plaza’s son, Beatrice Kitsos (The Exorcist) and...

Chucky’s second coming has a release date… and it’s coming sooner than you think.
We are, of course, referring to the somewhat contentious Child’s Play reboot in development at Orion Pictures, which has now released a suitably creepy poster to confirm that, yes, the film will be hitting theaters next summer – June 21st, 2019, to be precise.
If you’ve been paying attention to the Monday news cycle, one which has sadly been dominated by Stan Lee’s death, you’ll know that June 21st is the same date on which Disney-Pixar plans to launch Toy Story 4, another sequel that no one really asked for…
As for Child’s Play, well, it stars Aubrey Plaza as a mother who, unbeknownst to her, places a Devil Doll in the company of her helpless son. Polaroid helmer Lars Klevber directs from a screenplay by Tyler Burton Smith...

Doll Brawl: Chucky Vs. Woody & Buzz As Orion Dates ‘Child’s Play’ Redo Against ‘Toy Story 4’ In June
Orion Pictures has set June 21 as the release date for its relaunch of the horror franchise Child’s Play. That’s the one with Chucky, the demented doll possessed with the soul of a serial killer.
This sets up as counterprogramming to another doll franchise, as Disney opens Toy Story 4 the same day, and parents of young children will want to be careful not to slip into the wrong door in the multiplex or face therapy bills later. Orion president John Hegeman announced the Child’s Play date today; the pic follows a mother who gives her son a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature.
Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry and Gabriel Bateman star with Beatrice Kitsos, Ty Consiglio and Carlease Burke. Lars Klevberg (Polaroid) directed from Tyler Burton Smith’s script. David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith produced under the KatzSmith Productions banner. That...

Orion Pictures will release the reboot of “Child’s Play,” starring Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry, and Gabriel Bateman, on June 21, 2019.

Lars Klevberg (“Polaroid”) directed from a screenplay by Tyler Burton Smith, based on the original motion picture released in 1988 about the soul of serial killer Charles Lee “Chucky” Ray being transferred into a doll, which is then given as a gift to a young boy by his widowed mother, who was played by Catherine Hicks in the original. The original film was a box office hit and grossed more than $44 million against a production budget of $9 million. Brad Dourif vocalized Chucky...

William Shatner has a new film coming out called Aliens Ate My Homework and today he introduces the first trailer for it. The movie is based on the book series by Bruce Coville, and Shatner explains that he plays an "intrepid intergalactic adventurer known as Phil the Plant."
The movie is based on the first book in the Rod Allbright and the Galactic Patrol series and the story follows two middle school students looking for an alien outlaw hiding on Earth. Obviously, the studio is hoping to produce a series of films based on this property. The whole thing looks silly, but it seems like something the kids will enjoy.
Aliens Ate My Homework is a suspenseful family comedy which follows the adventures of sixth-grader Rod Allbright (Greig) and the extraterrestrial lawmen known as the Galactic Patrol. When a tiny spaceship flies through his window and lands on his science project,...
