On Long Island, Harry DeLeyer worked beginning in 1954 as a riding instructor at The Knox School, an elite private girl's boarding school, on Long Island, New York. The school's pupils included Zsa Zsa Gabor's daughter and Teddy Roosevelt's granddaughter. His job was to teach them to ride and to fox hunt. He was employed there for 22 years.
