Mumbai, Sep 9 (Ians) Akshat Ajay Sharma, the director of the recently released film ‘Haddi’, has shared that the film is a statement of his team’s commitment for providing a platform to voices of the transgender community.
The film explores the dark and complex world of transgender individuals who become entangled in Delhi’s criminal underworld. For the film, over 100 transgender individuals were roped in.
Talking about the same, Akshat said that the inclusion of more than 100 transgender individuals in the making of ‘Haddi’ was a conscious choice to enhance authentic storytelling.
The director said: “Each of these remarkable individuals brought different perspectives of their life and experiences/struggles that they have faced in real life which helped us portray the Kinner Community in the most profound ways. Haddi is not just a film, it’s a statement of our commitment to celebrating diversity and providing a platform for voices that have long been marginalised.

Mumbai, Sep 6 (Ians) Actor Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, who will be soon seen in the upcoming Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer streaming film, ‘Haddi’, was a tough nut to crack as far as convincing him to get him onboard for the film was concerned.
‘Haddi’ aims to shed light on the hardships of the queer community. And to get the representation right, the makers, including producer duo Sanjay Saha and Raadhika Nanda roped in versatile actors to portray interesting characters in the film, one of them is Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub.
The producer of the film, Sanjay, pointed out: “It wasn’t a normal role but a very pivotal one, as he had to portray Nawazuddin’s husband in the film. We tried to convince him a few times but he refused. But eventually, Zeeshan came back to us and said ‘let’s do it, I am getting a good feeling about it’.”
