The draw for the 2024 Adelaide International, Atp 250 tournament, was released, and the event will run from January 8th to 13th.
As one of the last two tournaments before the 2024 Australian Open, the tournament in Adelaide offers the last chance to players to get into their peak form for the season's first Grand Slam.
One of the players that will want to do it is last year's semifinalist from Melbourne, Tommy Paul. The American is the top seed in Adelaide, and as the four top seeded players, he has a bye in the first round.
That means, the'll start the tournament in the second round, but he doesn't have much clarity about who will be his first opponent at the event either, as he'll play against one of the qualifiers.
On the opposite side of the draw is Nicolas Jarry, who will clash with Marton Fucsovics or Matteo Arnaldi, and his...

The 2024 Brisbane International will be held from December 31st, 2023, to January 7th, 2024, and the draw for the Atp 250 tournament has been released.
The tournament in Brisbane has been highly anticipated due to multiple reasons. One of them is the season start, but the other one is the fact that the 22-time Grand Slam champion, Rafael Nadal, is returning to the tennis courts.
The Spaniard doesn't have high expectations ahead of his comeback, but he'll have a chance to ease into the tournament, as he'll face one of the qualifiers in the first round of the tournament, with his possible second-round opponent being the winner of the match between the eighth-seeded Aslan Karatsev and home wild card Jason Kubler.

Thanasi Kokkinakis had a pretty decent comeback season in 2023, but he's hoping that 2024 brings him even more joy.
The Australian has had a pretty incredible tennis story. From a very talented youngster whose career almost got destroyed by injuries to now where he hopes to catch this final train towards a pretty good career.
2023 finally provided Kokkinakis with a chance to really develop his game as he played a lot of tennis, thanks to finally being injury-free, and for the majority of the season, it was good.
He still experienced the occasional physical problem, but for the most part, he was able to keep himself upright and on the tennis courts. The hope for 2024 is for that to continue, as he hopes to put together an even better year.
Speaking to The West Australian, Kokkinakis explained his belief that his best tennis is still ahead of him as he still feels really young tennis-wise.

Australian Open tournament officials have instituted changes at next year's tournament to address a longstanding scheduling issue.
Last year, several people critiqued the disorganization in scheduling, which led to late-night finishes of tennis matches. Some of those laying their finger at the tournament included former Atp No. 1s, Andy Murray and John McEnroe.
The Briton played the longest match of his career at last year's Melbourne Slam, where he defeated home crowd favorite Thanasi Kokkinakis in a five-set dogfight in the second round that lasted five hours and 45 minutes and finished just minutes shy of the latest finish to a match at the Australian Open.
The clock ticked past 4 am local time when Murray fizzed the winning backhand shot down the line to bring the match to a close. After the match, Murray questioned who benefits from "ridiculously late" finishes to a tennis match.

Nick Kyrgios is trying to back his point in the recent days, after he said that former legends would struggle today on the Atp Tour.
Only around a week ago, the Australian said that former legends wouldn't thrive in current days, saying the likes of Novak Djokovic would dominate against Pete Sampras.
As an example, Kyrgios used the speed of the first serve that players today reach, comparing it to slower serves in the past. However, one thing he forgot to consider is how much better equipment players have these days.
After his comments, Boris Becker responded swiftly, as he wasn't happy with the Australian's comments. It didn't take too long before Kyrgios responded, and since then, the two have exchanged quite a few messages on social media.
But now, another former world no. 1 joined the conversation. Two-time Grand Slam champion and Olympics gold medalist, Yevgeny Kafelnikov used a similar argument to Becker,...

Thanasi Kokkinakis would love to play with Nick Kyrgios in Melbourne, but it depends on the health of his best mate on the Atp Tour.
Kyrgios and Kokkinakis have made some good memories in Melbourne together, winning the 2022 Australian Open doubles trophy. It came out of nowhere and is one of the fondest memories for both players but the fans would like to see more.
After Jason Kubler and Rinky Hijikata won the event last year, the Aussie crowd won't settle for foreign champions. They want the Special Ks back, and Kokkinakis is certainly open to it.
As he prepares for the new season in his native country, the Australian spoke to The Age with the 2024 season on his mind.
We'll see if he's healthy. If he's healthy, we'd love to play.

Fans are hoping to see Kyrgios play at the event, but it seems rather unlikely.

For the second year in a row, Australia will play in the Davis Cup final as the country ousted Finland with victories by Alex de Minaur and Alexei Popyrin.
Australia has some pretty good tennis players, and despite missing Thanasi Kokkinakis and Nick Kyrgios, they managed to find themselves in the final once more. They have a good core of singles players with a pretty good doubles pairing, making them a triple threat for any nation.
Alexei Popyrin got the nod earlier today against Otto Virtanen, and he proved better in two sets, setting up de Minaur to finish off the job. He played much better than a few days ago and secured a win in two simple sets to send his country through.
The opponent was Emil Ruusuuvori, who can be a very tricky player to play with his heavy baseline game. Luckily for Australia, de Minaur is as...

Nick Kyrgios considered becoming a basketball player but is content with sticking to his decision of turning into a tennis pro.
Kyrgios held an open session for questions from his fans on his official Instagram handle. And one curious follower asked the Aussie whether he would have switched to basketball if he had the chance to restart his career.
The 28-year-old's love affair with basketball stems from his early teenage years when he played the sport in school before stopping at 14 in order to focus on tennis. Kyrgios was adamant he made the correct choice by sticking to tennis even though the idea of playing basketball on a professional level crossed his mind.
"Sometimes I think to myself that I should of chosen basketball.... For my happiness, but then I think about what I've been able to do for my family and close circle and now have no regrets."

Thanasi Kokkinakis was supposed to be part of the Australian Davis Cup Team at the 2023 Davis Cup Finals, but he won't because of an injury.
Thanasi Kokkinakis endured a really heartbreaking career. After breaking out as a teenager, the Australian kept battling injuries for years. This year was the healthiest he's ever been, and it reflected in his results as he managed to record some important wins.
As such, he was expected to be a vital part of the Australian Davis Cup Team, but that won't be happening as he got injured.
He was in action a few weeks ago back home in Australia, playing some Atp Challenger events, but he twisted his ankle at one of them, forcing him to abandon plans of playing in the Davis Cup. Team Captain Lleyton Hewitt confirmed it.
Well, he got injured. He played a tournament in Sydney a few weeks ago and twisted his ankle.

Nick Kyrgios is a Grand Slam champion, of course, not in singles but in doubles, which is still one of his best tennis memories.
Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis paired up for their home Slam in 2022, and they actually went all the way. It was a crazy run that coincided with some of the best tennis atmosphere we've ever seen at the Australian Open in doubles, and it's just one of the fondest memories Kyrgios has.
The way the whole thing came together was very chaotic, as they didn't really practice or plan on playing. It was a spontaneous decision, but the bond they shared as good mates certainly helped them overcome any rustiness playing as a pairing.
The Australian talked about it during his recent appearance on the Tennis Channel, as he's doing match commentary during the 2023 Atp Finals.
The things I had that it would be a doubles Grand Slam.

Nick Kyrgios had his first commentating assignment with the Tennis Channel recently, and he was already part of a viral moment.
Commentating is a tricky thing because most people are not used to applying a filter to the way they speak. You really have to be careful to avoid saying something inappropriate or, worse, even offensive.
That type of stuff gets you fired, but luckily for Kyrgios, he's a career to fall back up. It was great to see him around tennis again after he missed much of this year because of multiple injuries.
The Australian is currently commentating for Tennis Channel, and he was in the booth for the match between Andrey Rublev and Carlos Alcaraz, which the Spaniard won and had a minor slip that quickly went viral, of course.
You look at people who have had sex... success against um, Medvedvev - Alcaraz, every time he plays against Medvedev,...

Thanasi Kokkinakis shared one of his best tennis moments with Nick Kyrgios, and he spoke about the possibility of doing that again.
Thanasi Kokkinakis and Nick Kyrgios are known as the Special K's. It's pretty self-explanatory why they are called that, as their surnames start with a K, but they're all called that also because of the magic they produced.
Last year in Australia, the two native players combined in the doubles to play an amazing event and win the trophy. It was a huge celebration of tennis because the crowd went wild in every match and both Kyrgios and Kokkinakis enjoyed it a lot.
That's how the Special K's were born, and they would prove a formidable doubles pairing later that year, even playing at the Atp Finals. This year, we saw the same thing happen as two native Australians, Rinky Hijikata and Jason Kubler, won the doubles trophy as well,...

Willy Masur, a former Atp World No. 15, reckons it would be "good to have Nick Kyrgios back" in light of the Big Four of men's tennis fading from the limelight.
With tennis icon Roger Federer now retired, Rafael Nadal uncertain to play beyond 2024 , and Andy Murray entering the final phase of his career with a surgically repaired hip, it only leaves the indefatigable Novak Djokovic as the surviving member of the quartet still on top of his game.
Masur believes Kyrgios is capable of filling that void, but more importantly, he'll have plenty of opportunities to compete and win the biggest titles. The Australian tennis great went as far as making the bold claim that his countryman is crucial not just for Australian tennis, but world tennis.

As of the most recent update in the Atp Rankings, Nick Kyrgios is not a ranked player anymore, dropping all of his points.
The Australian Maverick is one of the most talented players on the Atp Tour, yet even the best can't sometimes avoid injuries. And that's one of the reasons why Kyrgios can't compete right now.
The last points he accumulated came at the 2022 Japan Open, which is held during the week between October 16th and 22nd in 2023. That means, that as soon as the event started and the draw was released without the Australian, it was clear that he would become unranked.
That became reality with the latest Atp Rankings as the 2022 Wimbledon finalist lost all of his points from the last year's tournament, meaning that his total dropped to 0, making him unranked on the Atp Tour, something that Roger Federer experienced before, and that Rafael Nadal will likely experience too.

Thanasi Kokkinakis had a really unique career trajectory as he emerged as a very good talent fairly early in his career but then battled injuries for many years with this year finally being a good one again.
We've known about Thanasi Kokkinakis for many years as he was part of the wave of young promising Australians coming into the sport some ten years ago. Alongside good friend Kyrgios and fellow Aussie Bernard Tomic, Kokkinakis looked like a player destined for greatness in the future.
It didn't quite work out that way, with injuries being mostly to blame. The Australian, who won the 2013 Wimbledon Boys' title with Kyrgios, reached 69th place in 2015, but since then, he has battled with injuries quite often.
Even legendary players like Roger Federer bemoaned his fate, but it's 2023, and Kokkinakis is healthy and playing pretty solid tennis. This is his best year in years, and the ranking kind of reflects that.

For the first time in Australian Open history, the 2024 edition will have a Sunday start as a radical measure to avoid late night finishes, tournament director Craig Tiley confirmed.
That means next year's Australian Open will officially become a 15-day event, giving the tournamnet organizers the chance to schedule first-round matches in the first three days of the event. Therefore, the first match day of the 2024 tournamnet will be on Sunday, January 14th.
As Tiley confirmed in a press release , this is a key step in ensuring that players and fans are provided with a 'fair and equitable' schedule on all stadium courts. The Australian Open sessions will now increase from 47 to 52 on three main courts, those being Rod Laver Arena, Margaret Court Arena, and John Cain Arena.
The day session will feature a minimum of two matches on the main courts, instead of three, to reduce the potential of late-night finishes.

Thanasi Kokkinakis was asked about having Saudi Arabia involved in tennis, and he thinks that it's a good thing that will benefit the sport.
Much has been talked about Saudi Arabia's involvement in tennis, with most players taking either a neutral or positive approach. It's a rather simple transaction: the country wants to have sports in the country, and players are excited about the financial ramifications that any kind of involvement will entail.
In a recent interview, the Crown Prince of the country dismissed claims of sportwashing , framing the involvement in sports as something that will help grow its Gdp. From the player's perspective, the involvement of a country known for its generous spending on athletes is very enticing. Thanasi Kokkinakis is relishing the opportunity to get started with his Australian teammates ahead of the Davis Cup Finals.
2022 was an impressive Davis Cup campaign for the Australian team as they finished runners up to eventual winners Canada. But, as a reward for their strong run last season, the Australian side won a bye straight to the final group stages, which run between September 12 and 17.
Australia have a tough group in Manchester as they face Great Britain on home turf and France and Switzerland . Despite some of the potential challenges, Australia's second-ranked player Kokkinakis told Tennis.au about the uniqueness of representing his country and the uniqueness of the Davis Cup.
"We’ve had some special moments, obviously as a team. Making the final last year was a very cool experience.”
"It’s an exciting time … it’s good to be with the boys. There's not many weeks like it.

New York (US), Aug 27 (Ians) Three-time major champion Andy Murray revealed that he has adjusted his technique following his Wimbledon second-round loss to Stefanos Tsitsipas, and said that he has seen positive signs in his health ahead of the season’s final major, the US Open.
Since his Wimbledon loss, the Briton has played just four matches, compiling a 3-1 record. His lone defeat came in three sets to top seed Taylor Fritz in Washington, DC, before he was forced to withdraw ahead of the Toronto third round with a small abdominal tear that also kept him out of Cincinnati.
“I really feel like I needed to make a change to certain shots in my game if I wanted to win more of those matches and dictate more of those matches. So I did that, went away and worked on things for a period of time,” Murray said at the pre-tournament press conference.

The 2023 US Open is here, and as always, the last Grand Slam promises to be a great spectacle, also thanks to an attractive draw .

Andy Murray is currently away from the sport, nursing a tear in his abdomen, but he's confident about his level when he does compete on the Atp Tour.
Comparatively speaking, Andy Murray is having a much better season this year than last year. You don't have to analyse too much to understand that, as a simple win/loss record proves that. He won 30 matches last year, while his current win total stands at 29 already. It's pretty safe to assume, health permitting, that he will eclipse that number.
We've seen him produce signature comebacks like the one against Thanasi Kokkinakis in Melbourne . We've seen him lift multiple trophies , even if they are challenger trophies. We've seen him play some of the best tennis since the surgery, and it's all because of him giving it his all.
He won't reach the level he had a decade ago, but how could he with a metal hip?...

Thanasi Kokkinakis did really well to escape disaster against Daniel Elahi Galan in Cincinnati Masters , qualifying for the main draw.
Like in Toronto , Kokkinakis had to earn his place in the Cincinnati Masters main draw. He played two qualifiers, and after beating Laslo Djere in R1 , he defeated Daniel Galan in R2. It was a very tough match for the Australian, but he managed to find his best level when he needed it the most.
The Australian is working really hard on earning enough points to avoid having to play these kinds of things regularly, and every win helps. His tennis has been looking pretty decent lately, as his style fits well on North American hard courts.
The first set was very close for much of it, but towards the end, Galan found a chance and used it to escape with it 7-5. The Australian risked quite a bit in his play,...

Thanasi Kokkinakis needed a few match points to get it done, but the Australian is closer to the Cincinnati Masters main draw after a win over Laslo Djere .
Thanasi Kokkinakis has been playing pretty decent tennis lately and that's a good thing because he has to earn his place in the biggest Atp events. The Australian had to play the qualifiers for the Canadian Open in Toronto but it proved no problem.
He won both matches and secured a spot in the main draw of the event . The event itself was a pretty decent one but he suffered a painful loss to Lorenzo Musetti. It was a match he could have and probably should have won, but he lost.
There was no time to think about it too much as a new challenge awaited him in Cincinnati. He got top seed Laslo Djere in the qualifiers and expectedly it was a tough match.

New Delhi, Aug 11 (Ians) Nick Kyrgios, who was a quarterfinalist last year at the Flushing Meadows, has withdrawn from the upcoming US Open citing a wrist problem. The Australian will miss out on a fourth straight Grand Slam.
“Nick Kyrgios, a 2022 quarterfinalist, is out of this year’s US Open. Hope to see you back on the court soon, Nick!” the US Open posted on X, formerly Twitter.
Kyrgios has only competed in one event this year, in Stuttgart, due to injuries. The Australian missed the entire start of the season after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in January.
A foot problem stopped him from competing at the French Open in May while missing the Wimbledon due to a torn ligament in his wrist.
“Heartbroken about the US Open will be back…my wrist is not ready yet to compete. But may I remind people that I have...

Nick Kyrgios won't be competing at the 2023 US Open as he also withdrew from the fourth Grand Slam of the season.
In the tempestuous world of professional tennis, Nick Kyrgios has long been a tempest of his own kind. Dynamic on court, vocal off it , and always playing matches that entertain fans, the Australian maverick’s career has been a rollercoaster.
In 2022, it seemed Kyrgios had finally harnessed his storm , making waves for his on-court prowess rather than his fiery demeanor. His journey to the Wimbledon final, a title at the Citi Open in Washington, and a quarter-final run at the US Open bore testament to a year of professional zenith.
Yet, 2023 paints a contrasting canvas – one that offers a somber palette of battles with injuries and the relentless tests of time and patience . Most recently, the Australian withdrew from the 2023 Cincinnati Masters , and soon, a withdrawal from the 2023 US Open followed.

Lorenzo Musetti was quite known for his signature longer hairstyle but that's gone now as the Italian debuted a much shorter haircut at the 2023 Canadian Open in Toronto .
It was a good start for Musetti in Toronto as he defeated Yoshihito Nishioka in the opening round of the Canadian Open. Besides putting together a really strong showing on the court, Musetti also showed off a new haircut, one that fans on the Atp Tour weren't used to seeing from him in recent season.
It's far from what we've gotten used to from him over the years, as he generally sported a longish haircut for much of that time. It gave him a signature Italian flair which is also visible in his playstyle, a very elegant way of hitting the ball. Speaking his opening match at the 2023 Canadian Open on the Tennis Channel, Musetti explained the decision to opt for a shorter cut.

Thanasi Kokkinakis is in the main draw of the Canadian Open after winning his second qualifying match against Constant Lestienne.
The Australian needed three sets in the opening round of the qualifiers, but he proved much more sturdy this time around. He only needed two sets to win though it wasn't a simple match for Kokkinakis. He's made a habit of struggling through matches but has been playing pretty well recently .
Lestienne was up on Kokkinakis early in this match, taking a 3-1 lead, but the Australian managed to pull it back. The serve and forehand of the Australian worked well in these conditions, and they worked even better as the match went on.
Kokkinakis even jumped ahead in the opening set but got broken which meant that the set only finished in the tiebreak. It's how Kokkinakis made a lot of his money, and he proved better edging out...

Felix Auger-Aliassime made a return to tennis by playing at the Citi Open in Washington, but it wasn't a winning return.
The great news for Auger-Aliassime is that he played a match, but the bad news is that he lost the match. The Canadian didn't play since Wimbledon took some time to get his knee back into shape after dealing with injury problems for a while. It was very much needed because it was pretty clear that he forced himself to play Wimbledon.
Auger-Aliassime declared before this North American stretch that he was fine and ready to play again, which he did in Washington, but it wasn't a very good match for him. Yes, Watanuki is a solid player, one with a great serve that can trouble opponents, but the Canadian wasted chances in both tie-breaks, and that indicates that he's got a long way to go.

Thanasi Kokkinakis lost the opening set of his Citi Open clash against Taro Daniel , but the Australian came back to win in three sets.
Kokkinakis has been in North America for a while now, having played at the Granby Atp Challenger event in Canada before making his way to the United States. He was in Atlanta as well, stunning Gael Monfils with a superb comeback, and now he's done the same thing to Taro Daniel.
The Australian isn't playing perfect tennis at the moment, but he's winning, and that's what ultimately counts. The first set wasn't very good as Daniel proved quite capable, taking it 6-2. The Japanese player has shown a lot of solid tennis on hard courts this year, so this wasn't that surprising.

Jennifer Brady made her long-awaited comeback to the Wta Tour recently, and while she didn't last long in the Granby draw, the American is excited about the future.
Brady, of course, is a very good tennis player. One that worked her way seemingly to the top of the game only to fail in eluding what so many seemingly do without any effort. We've all heard that ever-boring injuries are part of sports, and while it might be true, it doesn't make it any less brutal.
The brutality of life was the focal point of many stories, both written and captured on film, yet it always catches us by surprise. Jennifer Brady was at the top of her game when it happened, and it caught her by surprise.

Thanasi Kokkinakis made a return to the Atp Tour at the Atlanta Open where narrowly avoided a defeat to Gael Monfils.
The French veteran is back on the Tour, and he played a really solid match taking the opening set 6-1. Kokkinakis won the second set and then mounted a superb comeback in the final set to win the match 7-5 in the 3rd set tiebreak.
It was a fierce battle between the players who are on a similar level right now though Monfils wasted a great chance to win. He was up 4-0 in the tiebreak and Kokkinakis himself admitted after the match that he thought it was pretty much over.
At 0/4 I thought it was pretty much over... From there it's one point at a time. In a tie-break you can go down quickly and can come back quickly. I got a point on his serve and then...

Gael Monfils made a return at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown event in Los Angeles, and he was quite happy with the way it went.
The French player hasn't played since Roland Garros, where he played one spectacular match before pulling out. Monfils missing the grass season is nothing major, as it has been the case for many years. He was never that good on it either so focusing on the hard court season certainly makes sense.
Speaking after the Uts in Los Angeles, Monfils admitted to being happy with how things went as he now shifts focus to the Atlanta Open . Being back on the court healthy and competing on the Atp Tour is all he wanted, and it's a great feeling.
I was quite happy. I was hitting a strong ball. The backhand is so much better. That was a huge question mark before I came. Even today, I was smashing the backhand.

The draw for the 2023 Atlanta Open has been released and it's a star-studded field, especially for an Atp 250 tournament.

Scheduling has been one of the popular terms on the Atp & Wta Tours in 2023, and even the 2023 Eastbourne International didn't avoid a controversy.
It seemingly all started already at the Australian Open when Andy Murray and Thanasi Kokkinakis were forced to play until 4 Am . As the season continued to the clay-court part, the controversies continued with Italian Open having their own , and Roland Garros too .
There were always multiple reasons for it. One was the gender disparity. Often, women were not granted as many matches in the premier night slots as men. The other reason was the fact that the scheduling sometimes made it too difficult for fans to watch the matches because they were finishing too late.
Only a couple of days ago, on Sunday, when four final matches were played, the tournament organizers, and the Atp and Wta, didn't do a good job once again. All four final...

The second part of the first season of Netflix's Break Point will air in June as we'll get a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes.
This time, it will be about last year's Wimbledon including Nick Kyrgios 's run to the final and the US Open . Break Point has an interesting storyline earlier in the year with the Netflix Curse as players that appeared in the show were losing early at Grand Slams. The second part of the show will premier in June right before Wimbledon so perhaps we see the apparent curse in the works again.
The TV show was an interesting way to present a side of tennis that most tennis fans don't really know. Stuttgart (Germany), June 11 (Ians) Nick Kyrgios, who has been out of action for last seven months due to injury, is now fit and ‘super excited’ to make his comeback as the Australian competes as the eighth seed next week at the Stuttgart Open, where he is set to play his first singles match since last October in Tokyo.
The 28-year-old played in the doubles at the 2022 Atp Finals alongside Thanasi Kokkinakis, but has not competed this season after undergoing surgery to repair a small tear in his left lateral meniscus in January.
“I wouldn’t say it was major surgery, but I had quite a serious surgery on my knee. It’s taken me about five months to get back to even playing, moving and [ready to play] against these players,” Kyrgios was quoted as saying by the Atp Tour.
“It’s been difficult, but at times it’s been amazing just to be home with my family.

The 27-year-old is now considering a surgical intervention to address this persistent issue that has been hindering his potential after reaching the third round of the 2023 Roland Garros and losing in a four-set match to Karen Khachanov.

The second round of Roland Garros will see Stan Wawrinka take on Thanasi Kokkinakis and Nick Kyrgios can't wait to see it.
Nick Kyrgios is away from tennis due to knee surgery that has kept him away from the sport since January. The Australian is getting ready to return during the grass season in preparation for what will be a huge Wimbledon event for him.
He's expected to make a strong comeback on grass but for now, he's content watching sports from his couch. As a Boston Celtics fan, Kyrgios closely followed their NBA Playoffs matchup against Miami Heat, tweeting about the game. It was a disappointing end there but he's hyped about the upcoming Wawrinka-Kokkinakis match in Paris.

Daniel Evans lost in the first round of the 2023 Roland Garros but it was mostly his foot fault that overshadowed the match.
The experienced Brit was beaten by Thanasi Kokkinakis in three sets, but in the second set, it appeared that Evans was getting back into the match. However, after he was called for a foot fault, everything changed in the match.
The Australian started his comeback in the second set, eventually winning the match in straight sets. Evans was never able to recover and after the match, he called the moment disruptive and wrong.
"Disruptive, wrong, a few other things you could say about it. Then, yeah, and then 15-30 or 30-15 he hits. I serve on the line. His net cord goes over."
He also opened up a topic that players often talk about, while they are held financially responsible for their mistakes, it's not the case with the umpires.

After a very long time, Thanasi Kokkinakis is back to winning ways at the Roland Garros and he wants to keep the trend going.
On Sunday, the Australian recorded his first win in eight years on Parisian clay when he defeated the 20th-seeded Daniel Evans. It was Kokkinakis' third-ever win at the Roland Garros, and it will be very difficult for him to add more.
After beating one of the seeded players, already in the next round, he can meet three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka. In case of further success, Kokkinakis can play back-to-back matches against Russians Karen Khachanov and Andrey Rublev, before possibly taking on the 22-time major winner Novak Djokovic, and then Carlos Alcaraz.
If the World No. 108 made a surprising run to the final, he would then maybe face Daniil Medvedev or Holger Rune, and there seems to be no easy opponent for him at the tournament.

Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis will play doubles together again and it will happen at the 2023 Wimbledon.
The Special K's, as the Australian duo is referred to on the doubles court, had a really superb 2022 season. It all started with the Australian Open triumph, and they also continued their successful run in Atlanta, capturing another title and eventually securing their spot in the Atp Finals.
Although they won only one match in the competition that gathers the eight best doubles teams, Special K's proved that they are really special. Fans are yet to see Kyrgios and Kokkinakis on the tennis court together since their appearance in Turin, but that will change soon.
The two were set to compete together at the Australian Open, but since Kyrgios was forced to withdraw, their premiere in 2023 was postponed. Now, the Australian withdrew also from the Roland Garros, but he should be ready for Wimbledon.

Thanasi Kokkinakis will be playing in the second round of the Roland Garros for the first time since 2015 after beating Daniel Evans.
The Australian had an interesting love-hate relationship with the Grand Slam in the French capital over the past few years. Out of the all majors, he attended it the least times, but at the same time, it's the only Grand Slam at which he made it past the second round.
That success came in 2015 for Kokkinakis. Back then, he received a wild card and defeated qualifier Nikoloz Basilashvili and also stunned 27th-seeded Bernard Tomic. Then, the Australian lost to the world no. 1 and eventual champion, Novak Djokovic.
This year, Kokkinakis received the wild card again. But the draw for the 2023 Roland Garros wasn't so nice to him. In the first round, he was drawn against Daniel Evans, player he met once on the Atp Tour and lost in that match.
