Rob McDougal is a Director of Photography based in Newcastle upon Tyne with a base in London.
Lately he has been shooting Short films and working with a You Tube content creator to map out a cinematic style as he transitions over to Factual TV content.
Born in Newcastle Upon Tyne, Rob spent his childhood creating skate videos and Short Films. After studying a BA in Computer Animation and VFX, he discovered Cinematography, and has been obsessed ever since. Ten years on, he is now shooting music videos for Universal Music and Fiction Records alongside creating narrative content for Sky Arts and Creative UK.
He loves to collaborate closely with creatives, developing their thoughts and ideas. He strives to spark creative conversations about what best fits the story and that would then inform the lighting style going forwards. It's important to him to care and fully believe in the scripts he works on, and he really values that dedication from other creatives.
Equally, he believes in the peers that he stands beside. He puts trust in his crew and cares for them deeply. He's mental health first aid trained, and crew well-being on set is always a priority.
