Clifton Stommel is an American cinematographer best known for his work on the films of directors Didier Konings, Nick Cavalier, and Curt Sova.
He is a member of International Cinematography Guild, IATSE Local 600.
Clifton has filmed internationally for narrative and commercial directors. He began his collaboration with the Didier Konings in 2018 on the film Uncario, which went on to win Best Short Film at the Munich Film Awards in 2021 along with others including best Sci-Fi and best Cinematography at several other festivals.
As a self taught engineer, Clifton has developed several camera modifications and filming techniques which are a part of his unique approach to filmmaking. In 2015, Clifton independently developed and launched the first ever CFast to SSD memory interface bridge, known as the Atoch C2S, which has been sold and distributed to over a thousand Blackmagic camera users in over 40 countries worldwide.
Clifton is the owner-operator of StommelHaus, LLC as well as co-creator of StarSieve with his partner Brigitte Roka.
