Actor Lee Jung-jae will attend the Monte-Carlo Television Festival next month for the French press launch of Lucasfilm’s latest live-action series “Star Wars: The Acolyte,” which streams on Disney+. In the show, Lee plays a Jedi Master.
It was his role in the globally successful Netflix series “Squid Game” that first catapulted Lee’s career to an international level. Starring as Seong Gi-hun (No. 456), a financially struggling father who participates in a deadly survival game, his performance earned him the Emmy Award for best actor in a drama series, a first for a non-English speaking actor.
This tremendous success significantly elevated the career of Lee, who is now considered by many as the international standard-bearer for a highly creative and avant-garde Korean culture.
In “Star Wars: The Acolyte,” an investigation into a series of shocking crimes pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee) against a dangerous warrior from his past.

"Before the Empire, before the Menace, there was The Acolyte."
We're now just two weeks away from the premiere of the latest Disney+ live-action Star Wars series, and Lucasfilm has debuted an exciting first clip from the show along with a new TV spot.
In the extended sneak peek, we find Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) engaged in fierce combat with Mae (Amandla Stenberg), his former apprentice.
Or at least, who he believes to be his former apprentice!
Possible spoilers follow.
Based on what we can gather from recent leaks and the character name subtitle in last week's TV spot, this is not actually Mae at all, but her sister. Rumor has it that Stenberg is playing a dual role as a pair of twins, one good and one evil (the titular Acolyte), with the former blamed for her sibling's sinister actions.
The teaser also features some new footage, including...

‘WandaVision,’ a hit Marvel series focused on Wanda Maximoff and her grief, was praised for its innovative storytelling and deep character exploration. The show’s success led to two additional spinoffs: ‘Agatha,’ set to arrive on Disney+ later this year, and ‘Vision Quest.’
In October 2022, Deadline reported that the second ‘WandaVision’ series was in development, with Jac Schaeffer as head writer and executive producer. In May 2023, it was announced that Eileen Shim had joined the series as a writer.
Jac Schaeffer, initially set to lead ‘Vision Quest,’ shifted his focus to ‘Agatha All Along.’ Now, Terry Matalas is helming the series. With Matalas on board, Marvel is making its first new live-action series pickup in almost two years, marking a significant shift in its TV production strategy for Disney+. The next live-action Disney+ Star Wars series, The Acolyte, is set to premiere on June 5, and Lucasfilm has now released two new teasers, one of which might confirm (or at least hint at) a recent rumor that's been doing the rounds.
Possible spoilers follow.
The first promo once again sees Master Sol vow to track down his wayward apprentice, Mae, who has seemingly fallen to the Dark Side and become the titular acolyte (which she is referred to as for the first time here). We then see Mae confronted at the edge of a snowy cliff, where she professes her innocence: "I didn't do it... believe me!"
If she is being sincere here, it might just confirm a persistent rumor that actress Amandla Stenberg will actually play a dual role as twins, which means Mae could have an evil sister out there taking down Jedi and framing her sibling for the murders.

Lucasfilm released a new trailer for The Acolyte yesterday (see below) to mark this year's Star Wars Day celebrations, and a new poster for the next live-action Disney+ Star Wars series has now been unveiled at Ccxp Mexico.
Some fans on social media initially attempted to pass this off as our first look at Darth Plagueis, but a closer look (see the knives?) reveals that it's actually Amandla Stenberg's character, Mae.
Possible spoilers ahead.
Speaking of Master Sol's former apprentice, a rumor relating to this enigmatic Force-wielder has re-emerged with some additional details. According to Daniel Richtman, both Stenberg and Manny Jacinto will actually play dual roles as two pairs of twins - one good, one evil.

To mark this year's Star Wars Day celebrations, Lucasfilm has released a brand-new trailer and poster for its next live-action Disney+ Star Wars series, The Acolyte.
In addition to some exciting lightsaber action, the teaser reveals more story details, as Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) vows to bring his wayward former apprentice Mae (Amandla Stenberg) to justice.
Mae doesn't appear to be the only one taking down Jedi, however, as we also get a first proper look at the mysterious Sith villain who is behind the murders. His (her?) face is obscured (with a mask not too dissimilar to the ones Kylo Ren and his Knights wore in the sequel trilogy), which may indicate that this formidable warrior will ultimately be unveiled as an already established character.

MCU series ‘WandaVision’, focusing on Wanda Maximoff and her journey after a significant loss, received praise for its unique storytelling and deep exploration of characters’ emotions. It was successful enough to spawn two spinoffs: ‘Agatha’, set to premiere on Disney+ later this year, and ‘Vision Quest’, whose release date is still uncertain.
Last year, the WGA Directory mentioned ‘Vision Quest’ was expected to come out during the 2024-2025 TV season. Many fans were excited about it, but due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, several projects, including this one, faced delays and cancellations.
Fortunately, ‘Vision Quest’ wasn’t scrapped like some other shows. Recent rumors suggest it might hit screens as soon as 2026. Now, a few weeks later, there are new reports about the show’s production.

‘WandaVision,’ a popular Marvel series about Wanda Maximoff dealing with her loss, got a lot of love for its unique storytelling and digging into the characters’ feelings. It did so well that there are two new shows spinning off from it: ‘Agatha,’ coming to Disney+ soon, and ‘Vision Quest,’ which doesn’t have a release date yet.
Last year, the WGA Directory said ‘Vision Quest’ was expected to come out in the 2024-2025 TV season. Many fans were eager for it, but the SAG-AFTRA strike messed up a bunch of projects, and some got axed. Now, MyTimeToShineHello, a notable leaker and scooper, teased White Vision’s next appearance which we can only assume is ‘Vision Quest.’ The news are not good, if the rumors are true the show won’t see the light of day until 2026.

Let’s be crystal clear about something right up front. Paddy Considine shattered our collective hearts as the ailing King Viserys Targaryen in HBO’s epic fantasy drama “House of the Dragon.” After delivering a beautifully rendered portrait of a wise and stoic ruler throughout the season, he went out in a blaze of glory by delivering a devastating swan-song performance in “Lord of the Tides,” the eighth episode of the series, as a monarch in his twilight, withering away in agonizing pain, leaving a legacy of rivalry and blood-lust in a battle to the death over the coveted iron throne.
Social media was ablaze with tributes and hosannas after the episode aired, with fans and critics declaring that the acclaimed English actor gave the performance of his career. Whenever a popular book series gets a television or film adaptation, certain debates are bound to occur. There will be those who loved the books and believe that anything the adaptation changes from the original texts is awful blasphemy. There will be those who believe that the on-screen version thoroughly improved upon the source material. These debates between book purists and show watchers are often strident and unending.
When "Game of Thrones" was airing, these debates occurred just as they always do. But by the time the show's lackluster later seasons had aired, it seemed that the book defenders had more or less won the debate. In the show's early seasons, when they followed the plot of the book more precisely, the show was extremely well-written and near-universally beloved. As the show began to stray more from the source material, the quality cratered. When it wasn't able to ape directly...

The new “Game of Thrones” prequel “House of the Dragon” has run fast through the events of its “Fire & Blood” source material, with the first season covering a span of 20 years in eight episodes. In a Monday post on his blog “Random Musings,” original series author George R.R. Martin revealed that he hopes the series will continue on this pace to cover the entire Targaryen civil war (or the Dance of Dragons) over four seasons.
“There are only so many minutes in an episode (more on HBO than on the network shows I once wrote for), and only so many episodes in a season … If ‘House of the Dragon’ had 13 episodes per season, maybe we could have shown all the things we had to ‘time jump’ over… though that would have risked having some viewers complain that the show was too ‘slow,’ that ‘nothing happened.’ As it is, I am...

[Warning: This story contains spoilers for House of the Dragon, episode eight.]
House of the Dragon just aired what’s arguably its strongest episode yet: a game-changing hour that served as a finale of sorts for the show’s first eight episodes, as well as a pilot for the rest of the series.
In “The Lord of Tides,” all the major characters (save an ailing Corlys Velaryon) came together for what might be the last time at the Red Keep for a petition to determine Velaryon’s heir. But the real occasion was unspoken: dying King Viserys (Paddy Considine) desperately making a last-ditch effort to prevent a civil war among his feuding family.
Warning: contains spoilers for House of the Dragon episode 7 ‘Driftmark’.
House of the Dragon episode seven left Rhaenys and Corlys Velaryon without a son, Prince Aemond without an eye, and Rhaenyra and Alicent’s respective court factions the Blacks and the Greens without any doubt that they were at war – the “ugly game” for control of the Seven Kingdoms had begun. Despite King Viserys I’s weak pleas for togetherness, the blood of his family runs far too hot for forgiveness. Their enmity is now in the open, and as Rhaenyra and Daemon travel to King’s Landing from Dragonstone in next episode, ‘The Lord of the Tides’, that only promises to deepen.
Watch the teaser trailer below:
Here’s what fans can expect from House of the Dragon episode eight, directed by Geeta Vasant Patel and written by House of the Dragon producer and Light as a Feather screenwriter Eileen Shim.
