JZ Murdock was born on August 30, 1955 in Tacoma, WA. After a brief residence in Roda, Spain in 1958 his family moved to Philadelphia, PA. Then back to Tacoma in 1960. After serving in the USAF he graduated with a degree in psychology from Western Washington University in 1984. While at "Western" he took a year long team script/screenwriting series of classes. Just after graduation he attended director Stanley Kramer's series of film production seminars.
He retired to Bremerton, WA in 2016 from a career in IT work on some top level & front line teams around the PNW, including at US West Technologies and Regence BlueShield.
His films include his award winning films "Pvt. Ravel's Bolero" (2022) and "Gumdrop", a short horror (2020), and others.
His true crime biopic screenplay, "The Teenage Bodyguard", found a Blacklist coverage wondering why it wasn't a film yet (he wonders that also, there's even been a true crime podcast on it). His horror comedy screenplay, "Gray and Lover The Hearth Tales Incident" made it to semi-finalist in the Circus Roads Films screenplay contest, his short screenplay "Popsicle Death" was a 13 Horror screenplay contest Finalist.
He is the author of both non-fiction books as in the 2022, "Suffering Long Covid", and fiction books like the epic horror sci-fi novel, "Death of heaven", and his "Anthology of Evil" short horror / Sci Fi collection story series, and others. He has also been published in various horror and non-fiction anthologies and magazines.
