After 10 seasons at the pressure cooker of Saturday Night Live, Cecily Strong comes well prepared, much loved and properly steeled to her New York stage debut as the solo star in an Off Broadway revival of Jane Wagner’s The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe. Good thing, too, since jumping into a role so identified with the iconic Lily Tomlin must surely demand a degree of self-confidence to equal the comedy and acting chops required.
Tomlin was already a star when she performed the original Broadway production of The Search… in 1985, but her acclaimed, Tony-winning turn became an enduring showcase for the actress, a performance captured for a wider audience in a 1991 film adaptation. She even returned to Broadway in a 2000 revival.

I Know What You Did Last Summer is not getting an encore on Prime Video.
Deadline broke the news late Friday that the streaming service has canceled the YA horror series after just one season.
News of the cancellation is somewhat surprising.
The show garnered mixed reviews, but there was a decent amount of buzz, which typically translates to viewership.
However, the streaming service never releases raw viewership statistics, so really any show can be canceled at any time.
The good news for fans is that the central mystery was pretty much closed up at the end of I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1.
Written and executive produced by Sara Goodman, I Know What You Did Last Summer is based on Lois Duncan’s 1973 novel, which was also the basis of the iconic 1997 film.

The killer has used Courtney's intuition against her. The fiercely loyal and rebellious voice of Wai Huna became the next untimely victim on I Know What You Did Last Summer Season 1 Episode 6.
"Least You Had A Spare" had Courtney desperately try to find her daughter as Riley's life hung in the balance. Unfortunately, she got lured into a deadly trap that snuffed her out. And the killer played some games, which led the Og crew farther away from saving Riley in time.
We had the chance to chat with Cassie Beck, who plays Courtney, about her memorable episode. We discussed everything, like the deadly trap, Courtney's relationships in town, and her determination to find Riley.
Check it out below!

The Amazon Original YA horror series “I Know What You Did Last Summer” premiered on Wednesday night with an outdoor screening at The Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles. Based on the iconic 1997 slasher movie which was adapted from Lois Duncan’s 1973 novel and starred Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Ryan Phillippe, the eight-episode series maintains the same initial set-up as its source material.
The series follows a group of friends who are bound together after they cover up a tragic accident that occurred on the night of their high school graduation. One year later, they find themselves targeted by a violent stalker who has discovered their dark secret.
Series star Madison Iseman told Variety that she was already a big fan of the cult classic. “I’ve always loved any kind of scary movie, especially the 90s slasher,” Iseman said. “It’s like the best...

The timing is ripe for an all-new version of “I Know What You Did Last Summer” to be revived: The 1997 film starring Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr., Ryan Philippe, and Sarah Michelle Gellar was a contemporary piece with the original Neve Campbell-led “Scream,” which is soon returning with a much-hyped new sequel-slash-reboot movie, and slasher pop culture is now at a perfect millennial nostalgia touchpoint. However, unlike January’s upcoming “Scream,” Amazon’s eight-episode “I Know What You Did Last Summer” series isn’t also a continuation of the original series (including the 1998 sequel “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer”), despite the recent passing of the torch from the original cast. Instead, writer and executive producer Sara Goodman has created a whole other loose adaptation of the 1973 Lois Duncan novel of the same name.

The cast of Amazon’s upcoming horror series I Know What you Did Last Summer got a pleasant surprise during the series’ New York Comic Con panel Friday as the stars of the original 1997 film dropped by for some quick “fan questions.”
While appearances by Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe and Jennifer Love Hewitt were pleasant surprises for the Nycc audience, their words of encouragement and excitement meant more for the talent and creative team of the upcoming show.
“It feels like they’ve given us their blessing; that’s hugely meaningful to me and to all of us,” said showrunner Sarah Goodman. “The last thing we want to do is undermine what they’ve created. We moved to the next generation with full respect to the movie and to the actors that are in it.”
Set to debut October 15, the YA horror series is a modern take on the 1997 slasher.

An understandable if tricky to navigate instinct during these many months of quarantine is the instinct to create meaningful art out of These Times. Even as the entire world goes on pause, creativity marches stubbornly on, hoping to make sense out of senseless things. But with no end in sight, it’s just about impossible for any art about the pandemic made during the pandemic to shed much light on what’s happening besides the fact that everyone feels like they’re losing their minds. That’s held true for TV shows about life in isolation that lean heavily on social distancing and Zoom. Something like Freeform’s “Love in the Time of Corona” or HBO’s “Coastal Elites,” while well-intentioned, failed to capture much about this era beyond the fact that it’s surreal. On the face of it, “Connecting…”, NBC’s new show about socially distanced friends shot in quarantine,...

If you’re confused as to who is actually able to compete for the newly announced virtual Tony Awards this fall, you’re not alone. The Tony Awards Administration Committee announced a new cut off date of February 19, 2020. That means that the 2019-2020 Broadway season was cut incredibly short.
Musical races are most heavily affected by the shortened season. “West Side Story” will have to wait until next year to compete as it opened after the February 19th eligibility cutoff date. Other scheduled revivals of “Caroline, or Change” and “Company” were postponed due to the Broadway shutdown. As such there will be no Revival of a Musical category this year. Other categories, like Best Musical and Director of a Musical, will likely see their number of nominees reduced to three due to a limited number of contenders.
Luckily, there are plenty of plays in contention since many of these non-musical outings premiere in the fall.

The animated microseries Star Wars: Forces of Destiny did a great job of including a range of fan favourite characters from across the saga in its eight episode first season. Driven by its female stars, the three-minute installments featured the likes of Princess Leia, Rey, Jyn Erso, Padme Amidala and Ahsoka Tano. Not to mention Anakin Skywalker, Yoda, Chewbacca, R2-D2 and more in supporting roles. Thankfully, the familiar faces will keep on coming in the upcoming season, as two more big names have been added to the line-up.
Jedi News are reporting that the latest issue of Star Wars Insider features an interview with Lucasfilm Story Group member Cassie Beck, who reveals that both Finn and Han Solo will make appearances in upcoming Forces of Destiny episodes. The good news is that John Boyega will reprise his role as the reformed Stormtrooper. And though Beck didn’t comment on Han’s voice artist,...
