Indian cinema was never the same after S.S. Rajamouli’s epic period actioner Baahubali: The Beginning and its sequel Baahubali: The Conclusion came out. The visionary director raised the bar for emotionally charged storytelling, epic war action scenes, and powerful performances. The films not only captivated the audience in a big way but also set the box office on fire, breaking myriad records.
But an interesting thing happened after the release of the second film, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. Some viewers pointed out surprising similarities between the Baabubali sequel and the cult animated film The Lion King, which came out in 1994.
Similarity No.1: Basic Plot
The first similarity was the basic plot itself, which revolves around how a rightful and deserving heir returns to rule the kingdom after many years and to take the throne back from a tyrannical ruler.

By now, we’ve all heard of Rajamouli’s Eega cracking box office records in Tamil. The Hindi version comes to us with a tremendous pre-release expectations. Shall we just say, we were Eega to see this film? On paper, Makkhi must have sounded like a corny adventure saga about a fly’s vendetta spree against a man who would go to any lengths to win over a girl who rebuffs his every gesture. Sudeep’s effectual destruction by the fly has to be seen to be believed.

After much confusion the Hindi version of the first shot of Ram Charan’s Peddi has arrived and honestly, while I was mighty impressed with the Tamil version, I have my doubts with this Hindi version. The basic plot of the film seems an extension of Aamir Khan’s Lagaan.
The official synopsis of the film on IMDb says, “In 1980s rural Andhra Pradesh, A spirited villager unites his community through sports to defend their pride against a powerful rival.” Now, this is an intriguing plot and even if having its soul in Lagaan, the story still seems powerful.
My basic problem with Peddi’s first shot probably is a huge language barrier. Earlier, most of us watched South Indian films in the 90s with a weird dubbing and accent that did not match with the actor on screen.

This debt, incurred for other projects overseen by producer Gnanavel Raja, had led to mounting tension between the companies.
The stakes were heightened when Reliance requested the Madras High Court to halt the distribution of Kanguva and the Ott release of Thangalaan, another Studio Green project. While Studio Green had made partial repayments, a significant balance remained.
However, at a pivotal court hearing on November 8, it was revealed that the outstanding amount had been settled, with ₹18 crore contributed by Mango Mass Media on behalf of the producer.
