Netflix's new supernatural horror adventure series, The Irregulars, is based on the Baker Street Irregulars characters from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes novels.
I am creepily thrilled with the gory, gooey, hematic mess left on the floor.
The debut season is full of dark ambiance and disgusting blood splatter.
You'd have to forgive me if I were expecting a tweeny-adventure show. The lead characters are young, indeed. But this is adult horror fare. And I ate it all the hell up.
As we were fortunate enough to view the entire season, let's review chapter-by-chapter to sum it all up.
Chapter 1: An Unkindness. We are introduced to the gang of former workhouse orphans. I refrained from screaming out, "Please, sir, can I have some more?" 38 times in the first few minutes (I'll take that pat on the back!).
While the series does have a monster-of-the-week structure, the...

A tale of fearsome monsters with supernatural powers and an inter-dimensional battle to save the world, it’s fair to say that The Irregulars is not based on a true story. That doesn’t mean, however, that the new 19th-century set Netflix series doesn’t have the odd crossover with historical fact.
One crossover is the character of Leo, a privileged youngster who escapes from his gilded prison to see London for himself. In insalubrious Baker Street, he stumbles upon Bea, Billy, Spike and Jessie – fellow teens with considerably fewer means, who are on the trail of a baby thief. Leo’s quick mind and familiarity with the establishment make him a vital addition to the quartet, and soon, he’s part of their supernatural-crime-solving gang. Like Cinderella though, when the bell strikes a certain hour, Leo (Harrison Osterfield) has to abandon his new friends and dash off home.

Strange happenings are afoot in London in the new Netflix series “The Irregulars.” Scrapes with the metaphysical in and around the busy streets of Victorian England, all sussed out with a mix of deduction and intuition is the provenance of many a Sherlock Holmes story. Though “The Irregulars” is far from the first TV series to take the classic Holmes mythology and subvert it for its own purpose, none of the others have alighted on quite the mixture that powers this new eight-episode season.
Rather than foreground any of the central figures in the standard Doyle repertoire, this fashions a loose-knit group of five purpose-seeking teenagers who stumble into the same circles that the violin-playing literary icon usually travels through. They’re led by a pair of sisters, Beatrice (Thaddea Graham) and Jessie (Darci Shaw), each looking to fashion a new path in life after a harsh childhood spent mostly in a workhouse.

What is it about the Sherlock Holmes story that keeps us coming back? Part of it, surely, is the fantasy of all-knowingness — the inherently compelling idea that a single person can contain within his skull the key to cracking all mysteries. Another element, though, is the aesthetic of Victorian London, an atmosphere that’s as dank and moody as it is easy to conjure onscreen, and whose mists and alleys lend the pleasurable sense of there being sufficient secrets to keep even a polymath detective busy for years to come.
“The Irregulars,” a new Netflix series, keeps half of that equation, but ditches the first. In this show, created by Tom Bidwell, a group of teens, together, lend a sort of teamed-up sleuthing power to Holmes and Watson’s operation. At the center of the group lay Bea and Jessie (Thaddea Graham and Darci Shaw), two sisters burdened with misfortune...

Just when you thought you’d seen all there was in the world of Sherlock Holmes, along comes The Irregulars, a unique, dark and compelling series, that delves into the murky world of a small collective of misfits, tasked with solving crimes for the aforementioned detective. To mark the launch on Netflix – this Friday, March 26th – we had the pleasure in speaking to several members of this impressive young cast. Below you can watch interviews with Thaddea Graham, Darci Shaw and Harrison Osterfield, as well as with JoJo Macari and McKell David.
And finally we speak to Henry Lloyd-Hughes and Royce Pierreson, who play Sherlock and Dr. Watson, respectively. And look out for a game we played in each interview, quizzing the talent on their knowledge of Sherlock Holmes, as we read out a list of titles, and they had to guess which are real Sherlock stories, and which we made up.

Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo have gained a reputation for being the two biggest goofballs in the McU cast, with both the Spider-Man and Hulk actors infamously dropping major spoilers for their Marvel movies over the years. Ruffalo, for instance, accidentally livestreamed the beginning of Thor: Ragnarok on social media. And in this latest example of their antics, which Holland has just shared on his Instagram, the British star accidentally crashes Ruffalo’s interview on the set of Avengers: Endgame.
The video sees Holland enjoying some downtime on set with friend and fellow actor Harrison Osterfield. Tom then decides to entertain himself while running through the corridors as if Osterfield is chasing him. What he doesn’t know though is that Ruffalo is in the middle of an interview just around the corner.
“Sorry @markruffalo for ruining your interview,” Holland writes in his caption. “I’m not sure why [sic] we were doing but please enjoy!

Right from the start, George Clooney and producing partner Grant Heslov demanded period authenticity for the hellish World War II aerial combat missions in their miniseries remake of Joseph Heller’s black comedy, “Catch 22.” That put the onus on production designer David Gropman and cinematographer Martin Ruhe to tackle the exterior and interior aerial combat missions, and to put us up close and tight inside the B-25s with Christopher Abbott’s Yossarian and his fellow bombardiers.
“We all agreed that the aerial work had to be realistic and [intense],” said Ruhe. “That’s why we shot as much as possible with real planes in the air.” However, they could only afford two functioning B-25s because of the cost of transporting them from the U.S. to Sardinia, where they shot on an abandoned runway near the Olbia Airport. The cinematographer shot with Alexa Minis mounted to all of the...

So it's been interesting to follow the Will He/Won't He? of whether or not Spider-Man will appear in Avengers: Infinity War. First there was the natural assumption that he would be, since it sounds like every frickin' Marvel hero ever is going to be in the movie. Then there was Marvel Studios seemingly going out of its way to say he would not show up by releasing a cast list that spoiled other surprises while omitting Tom Holland's name (For the uninitiated, Holland is the new custodian of the Peter Parker/Spider-Man character). And Then there was Holland letting the cat out of the bag that he Would pop up in Avengers: Infinity War after all, during an interview with an Italian news outlet.
That brings us to a recent Instagram Livestream video, posted by Holland onto his own profile, where he seemingly "accidentally" let slip that he's...

Marvel now have years of practice when it comes to keeping essential plot details under wraps, and allowing just the tiniest, most tantalising snippets of information out. It’s almost as if they want to keep fans on the edge of their seats. The latest such snippet comes from the Instagram account of Spider-Man: Homecoming lead actor, Tom Holland, as he continues to film his scenes for the upcoming blockbuster.
The image depicts Holland, along with fellow actors Harrison Osterfield and Jacob Batalon, sitting outside the building that houses the headquarters of Porsche. While it may seem like an innocent shot of young thespians enjoying some downtime in Atlanta, Georgia, eagle-eyed Marvel fans will note that this is the building that doubled as the brand new Avengers HQ in the film Captain America: Civil War.
The clues are certainly beginning to add up. We have long had confirmation that Robert Downey Jr...

Instead of meeting in Peter Parker's bedroom in Queens, NY, will Spider-Man: Homecoming see Iron Man and the Wall Crawler meeting in Upstate NY at The Compound? A new Instagram photo from Tom Holland revealed that he was recently at the Porsche Headquarters in Atlanta which doubles as the New Avengers compound during filming at Pinewood. The building was also used for that purpose in Ant-Man, the end of Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War. Peter showing up at the new Avengers HQ shouldn't really come as a surprise as it's likely his "internship" takes him to Stark Industries or The Compound and if Pepper and Tony are still on a break, it's highly probable that he and Tony won't be hanging out at Pepper's offices. He even captioned the photo, "The A Team," in reference to Jacob Batalon (who's playing Ned Leeds) and his friend and fellow actor,...
