There's a lot to love in Netflix's animated "Castlevania" shows. Based on the hit video game franchise of the same name, the sharply animated shows feature a fun alternate history to our own, where real-world events have been altered by the inclusion of supernatural beings like vampires and demons. There are some truly great characters with a lot of charm, some fantastically tragic antiheroes, and some good old-fashioned blood and gore. The story featured some grim moments that ideally should have been a topic of discussion, but Shônen Gahosha, the publishing house for Hellsing, allowed them as they never restricted Hirano.

Hirano once revealed that he was lucky enough to work with Gahosha, as it helped him portray the story of Hellsing in the exact way he wanted, which is a big deal for him considering it was one of his early works.

Yen Press, the American manga, graphic novel and light novel publisher, disclosed their best selling titles for the year 2023 on Jan 16, 2024. It was revealed in a video posted on their official Twitter account, which highlighted the feats of the publisher in the previous year.

Popular American publishing house Yen Press has released its official list of its best-selling manga, manhwa and novels for 2023, with some predicited winners but also perhaps a few surprises.

Yen Press revealed these highlights in a recent video posted to X (formerly Twitter). The platform published a total of 618 titles in 2023, with the top genres being fantasy, science-fiction, action-adventure, romance and horror, with Toilet-bound Hanako-kun being its best-selling manga series of the year. Meanwhile, Oshi no Ko., Vol. 1 was the best-selling individual volume of the year. "2023 was a big year for idols, villainesses, and stray dogs! It was also a big year for Yen Press, thanks to You!

Voice actress Aya Hirano, aged 36, and actor Masashi Taniguchi, aged 46, have officially announced their marriage on Jan 3, 2023.

The couple had recently co-starred in the stage play adaptation of Chainsaw Man, portraying the characters of Makima and Kishibe respectively, leaving fans pleasantly surprised by their real-life union.

The news of their marriage was revealed through their official Twitter accounts, where they shared statements expressing their joy and gratitude.

“At this time, Masashi Taniguchi and Aya Hirano have married,” the joint announcement read. “We will continue to express our gratitude and strive to improve as artists even more. We sincerely ask for your continued guidance and support.”

Despite the joyous occasion, the couple also went on to acknowledge the tragic events that have unfolded since the beginning of the year, expressing their heartfelt condolences to those affected. They pledged to contribute in any way possible.

Kyoto Animation's 2023 Music Festival will be streamed internationally to viewers around the globe.

As detailed on the event's official website and X (formerly Twitter), KyoAni will hold its 6th Annual "Fan Appreciation" music festival at Kyoto's Rohm theater from Saturday, Nov. 11 (17:00 Jst) to Sunday, Nov. 12 (17:00 Jst) this year. The festival will offer virtual tickets for viewers in several major territories outside Japan, including the United States, Canada, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines, among others. The ticket purchasing period for Day 1 of the event is set for Oct. 16-Nov. 25. For Day 2, it will be open from Oct. 16 to Nov. 26. The archived stream of the festival will be available for roughly two weeks, closing on Nov. 25 for Day 1 and Nov. 26 for Day 2.

Studio Deen's Boy's Love film, Sasaki and Miyano: Graduation is coming to Crunchyroll later this month.

Sasaki and Miyano's first cinematic entry, which chronicles the titular character's emotional departure from high school, debuted in Japanese theaters earlier this year. The anime streaming service Crunchyroll recently announced that the film will become available to stream starting Sept. 28 at 5:00 Pm Pt in all major territories besides Asia. To commemorate the upcoming release, Crunchyroll also revealed an English-subbed trailer for the film on its official YouTube channel.

Sasaki and Miyano's first theatrical installment features the same creative team as the anime series. Shinji Ishihira (Fairy Tail) and Yoshiko Nakamura resumed their respective roles as Director and Scriptwriter. Masaki Mayuzumi and Makii Fujii returned to their respective roles as Art Director and Character Designer. Miracle Chimpanzee, which performs Sasaki and Miyano's opening theme, also provides the theme song for Graduation.

Right when you thought that the Netflix adaptation of one of the most cult anime titles could not stoop any further, here comes the second season of the “Son of Ogre” arc to ruin the franchise even more.
