After several unsuccessful attempts in recent years, Ayushmann Khurrana and Anees Bazmee are finally collaborating. Peepingmoon.com has exclusively learned that Ayushmann is teaming up with Bazmee for a comedy entertainer set to be produced by Junglee Pictures.
The yet-untitled project is believed to be an out-and-out comedy with romantic undertones, featuring Ayushmann in another quirky character role he’s popularly known for. Although it’s yet unclear if it’s a horror comedy as reported in the media, the double-role movie previously discussed with Shahid Kapoor, or an entirely different project, sources ensure that it’s a typical Anees Bazmee entertainer packed with humor, romance, and drama.
Ayushmann reunites with Junglee Pictures for what would mark his fourth project with the company, following their three successful partnerships on critically and commercially successful movies—Bareilly Ki Barfi, Badhaai Ho, and Doctor G. The combination of these two hit forces with a...

The journey of the Indian Premier League (Ipl) has not always been easy for Shah Rukh Khan and his team, Kolkata Knight Riders. Any decision he takes regarding his team is sometimes appreciated and sometimes questioned by the media or fans. Kkr Vice Captain Nitish Rana(Photo Credit –Instagram)
Nitish Rana, the attacking left-handed batter and part-time off-spinner, is a key player for the Kolkata Knight Riders (Kkr) in the Ipl 2024. But there’s more to him than just his impressive cricket skills!
Nitish Rana’s journey from Mumbai to Kkr stardom
Nitish Rana started making his mark in the Ipl with the Mumbai Indians. However, it was after being bought by Kkr in the 2018 auction that his career truly took off. Kkr recognized his batting prowess and retained him in the 2022 Mega Auction for a cool 8 crore. He’s even been able to play international cricket, representing India in a single Odi and a couple of T20Is against Sri Lanka in 2021.
Leadership runs in Rana’s blood (sort of!). When Shreyas Iyer was unavailable due to his injury in Ipl 2023, Rana stepped up and donned the captain’s hat for Kkr.

Durban, July 13 (Ians) The International Cricket Council (Icc) Chief Executives’ Committee has endorsed modifications to the over-rate sanctions in Test cricket to strike a balance between the imperative of maintaining over-rates and ensuring fair remuneration for players as players now won’t lose 100 percent of match fee under new regulations.
Under the revised regulations that will be applied from the start of the current World Test Championship cycle, players will be subjected to a fine equivalent to 5 percent of their match fee for every over that falls short, with a maximum penalty capped at 50 percent.
Notably, if a team gets bowled out prior to reaching the 80-over mark and the new ball is not yet due, no over-rate penalty will be imposed, regardless of any potential delays. This amendment supersedes the existing threshold of 60 overs.
“The Icc World Test Championship has injected renewed energy into Test cricket giving it a compelling context.

London, July 11 (Ians) Claiming that “it is time for the global game to reset”, the McC World Cricket Committee (Wcc) has proposed for the International Cricket Council (Icc) to establish two strategic funds — one to sustain the Test cricket programme across the world and other for the development of the women’s game.
To help identify nations in need of support to sustain Test cricket, the Wcc has asked Icc to undertake a Test match financial audit to analyze the difference between operational costs and commercial.
This need could be subsequently addressed via a separate Test fund, established to protect the sanctity of Test match cricket, the Wcc recommended following the first meeting of 2023 in Dubai, in which it concluded that the game was at a crossroads with intervention required.
The committee has now released specific recommendations for the Icc to help ensure the long-term prosperity of the men’s and women’s international games.

New Delhi, June 29 (Ians) The Indian Premier League (Ipl) franchise Delhi Capitals announced on Thursday that assistant coaches Ajit Agarkar and Shane Watson have left the side, nearly a month after the team finished ninth in the 2023 season of the tournament.
“You’ll always have a place to call home here. Thank You, Ajit and Watto, for your contributions. All the very best for your future endeavours,” said the franchise on its social media accounts.
Agarkar joined the franchise as an assistant coach in February 2022, with Watson coming in a month later. During their time at Delhi, the franchise didn’t manage to make it to the playoffs in the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Agarkar has played in 26 Tests, 191 ODIs, and 4 T20Is for India, and was a member of the inaugural Men’s T20 World Cup winning team in 2007.

New Delhi, June 13 (Ians) Former Bcci president Sourav Ganguly has advised the Indian team to play fearless cricket in order to end the long title drought at International Cricket Council (Icc) events.
Fans had high hopes from India at the World Test Championship final, but they suffered a crushing defeat against Australia at The Oval.
With another loss, India’s prolonged hunt for their first Icc title since 2013 continues. After the Champions Trophy win in 2023, India have featured in four semifinals and four finals of major Icc events but haven’t been able to cross the final hurdle.
“In the last 10 years, they played four finals. It’s not that they’ve been absolutely poor. They have just not won the big finals, hopefully that will happen. As someone who has seen Indian cricket closely. My only advice is to play without fear when you get to these big moments.

New Delhi, June 13 (Ians) Former Bcci president Sourav Ganguly has said that the board was not ready for Virat Kohli to step down as India Test skipper, adding that it was his personal decision and the star batter can only reveal why he left the captaincy in the longest format of the game.
Ganguly’s latest remarks come in the wake of fans calling for the reinstatement of Kohli as India’s Test captain after the Rohit Sharma-led side suffered a 209-run defeat to Australia in the World Test Championship final. However, Kohli hasn’t been at his best with the bat in Test cricket in the last three years.

London, June 11 (Ians) India head coach Rahul Dravid believes his bowlers could have done better on The Oval pitch, where they allowed Australia to pile on 469 runs in the first innings of the World Test Championship (Wtc) Final and admitted the team had “big players” who could have formed a solid partnership to chase down a daunting 444.
On Day One of the clash, Travis Head (163) and Steve Smith (121) took full advantage of a lacklustre Indian bowling line-up to stitch a 285-run partnership and take Australia’s first innings total to 469. It meant India played catchup throughout the match despite a late fightback from Ajinkya Rahane (89), and Shardul Thakur (51) with the bat in the first innings.

London, June 9 (Ians) As he returned to action in the longest form of the game after a gap of more than a year, experienced middle-order batter Ajinkya Rahane achieved a milestone — becoming the 13th Indian batter to score 5000 or more runs in Test cricket.
Rahane, who played his last Test against South Africa at Cape Town in January 2022, struck a half-century to rescue India from a precarious 151/5 at the end of the second day’s play in the World Test Championship Final against Australia at The Oval here.
The 25-year-old from Maharashtra, who was batting on 29 overnight, completed his half-century off 92 deliveries and went on to share a vital partnership of 109 runs for the seventh wicket with all-rounder Shardul Thakur
At the end of the opening session on Day 3, Rahane was batting on 89 off 122 deliveries. Though he got out soon after the resumption of play, without adding any run to his score,...

London, June 8 (Ians) In the run-up to the World Test Championship Final between India and Australia at The Oval, there was a huge debate over whether ace off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin will make it to the playing eleven or not.
With 474 wickets in 92 matches at a strike-rate of 51.8, including 32 five-wicket/innings hauls, keeping Ashwin, the top-ranked Test bowler, out of the marquee clash as India preferred four fast-bowlers has invited criticism from former cricketers of both nations.
The Oval pitch, which looked green, assisted the seamers for the first hour or so under overcast conditions. But as the sun came out and clouds began to move away, it turned good for batting.
Travis Head (146 not out) and Steve Smith (95 not out) feasted on a lacklustre Indian bowling line-up to stitch a mammoth 251-run unbeaten stand for the fourth wicket as Australia reached 327/3 at the stumps on Day 1.

It is not merely his ranking, but the fact that Ashwin is an all-wicket exponent and therefore potent even on pitches favouring faster bowlers.
India selected a side virtually for the first session of the match. The weather forecast was sunshine for the greater part of the game. Indeed, the second hour of the opening morning was sunny; and easier for batting than at the start of the Australian innings.
Once you win the toss with four quick bowlers in your pick, inserting the opposition is a no-brainer. Predictably, that is what Indian captain Rohit Sharma did. The Indians perhaps got carried away by the grass on the pitch and the temporarily overcast sky. Such conditions can be deceptive. While the track undoubtedly looked green, it was dry and there was no residual moisture underneath. This was because London, after a wet spring, hasn’t experienced much rain in the past 2-3 weeks.

With some of the biggest names in cricket battling it out, fans are being treated to a showcase of skill and talent. However, as with any competition, there are always teams that fail to live up to the expectations.
Three teams — Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings — have been eliminated from the playoff race. Capitals were the first team to be eliminated, followed by Sunrisers and Punjab Kings.
Why did Delhi fail?
Delhi Capitals have arguably been one of the worst teams in the competition this season, finishing their campaign with just 10 points from 14 matches.
The team’s internal struggles in finalising their starting lineup, coupled with underperforming key players, have contributed to their early elimination from the competition, making them effectively the first team to be knocked out.
DC’s batting line-up consists of high-quality top-order batsmen such as David Warner, Prithvi Shaw, Mitchell Marsh, Phil Salt and Rilee Rossouw.

New Delhi, May 17 (Ians) Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan reckons as Delhi Capitals have shifted their focus on the next season of Ipl, former India cricketer Sourav Ganguly should now be given the role of team’s head coach.
“Sourav Ganguly’s presence in the Delhi dugout is a big deal. I think if Dada is given the responsibility of coach as well, he can make a big difference in this team. Dada has knowledge of the psychology of Indian players. He knows how to run the dressing room and Delhi should definitely take advantage of that,” Pathan told Star Sports.
“At the time of the toss, Warner has said that his team has now started preparing for the next season and in this context, it would not be wrong to see Ganguly in a changed role.”

New Delhi, May 15 (Ians) The soft signal rule, which has caused widespread debate in the cricketing world, could be abolished from international cricket, starting from the 2023 World Test Championship final between India and Australia to be held from June 7-11 at The Oval in London.
A report in Cricbuzz says the change in the soft signal rule is on its way, starting from the playing conditions for the Wtc final.
“The change, understandably approved by Sourav Ganguly-headed cricket committee of the Icc, has been conveyed to the two Wtc finalists — India and Australia. The new rule will be part of the PCs for the June 7-12 game at The Oval,” it added.
According to Icc rules, a “Soft Signal is the visual communication by the bowler’s end umpire to the third umpire (accompanied by additional information via two-way radio where necessary) of his/her initial on-field decision prior to initiating an Umpire Review.

New Delhi, May 15 (Ians) The International Cricket Council (Icc) on Monday said on-field umpires will no longer be required to give the contentious soft signal ruling when referring decisions to the TV umpire effective from June 1, 2023, the starting date of the Lord’s Test between England and Ireland.
“Umpires will no longer be required to give a soft signal while referring decisions to the TV umpires. The on-field umpires will consult with the TV umpire before any decisions are taken,” said the Icc in its statement.
To incorporate this change, the Icc changed the playing conditions of international matches after the Chief Executives’ Committee ratified recommendations from the Ganguly-led Men’s Cricket Committee which were also endorsed by the Women’s Cricket Committee.

New Delhi, May 12 (Ians) Time and again, it’s been the batting, which has let Delhi Capitals (DC) down in the ongoing Ipl 2023 and the David Warner led side will look to sort it out when they face a desperate Punjab Kings (Pbks) in the Match No 59 of the season at Arun Jaitley Stadium, here on Friday.
Both teams are coming off crushing defeats in their last matches respectively. Delhi lost to Chennai on a spin-friendly Chepauk track while Punjab Kings suffered a last-ball defeat against Kkr at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
The Capitals are placed at the bottom of the table with eight points from 11 matches and even if they win their next three matches, it will only take them to 14 points, which might not be enough to earn them a place in the top four.

New Delhi, May 5 (Ians) Former Bcci president Sourav Ganguly on Friday said that Ajinkya Rahane has always been a good player for India and hoped that the seasoned batter will make most of the opportunity if he features in the team’s playing XI during the Icc World Test Championship final, set to be played from June 7 to 11 at the The Oval.
The 34-year-old Rahane, who was out of the India team since the Cape Town Test against South Africa last year after an extended run of low scores, recently made his comeback to the Indian side after being named in the side for Wtc final courtesy his spectacular form in the ongoing Ipl 2023.

New Delhi, May 5 (Ians) Various sportsperson have voiced their concerns about the protesting wrestlers. But former India skipper and ex-Bcci chief Sourav Ganguly, when asked about his take on the issue on Friday, said he would not like to talk on the matter without having complete knowledge.

Tendulkar won the World Cup, innumerable Man of the Match and Series awards, scored the first-ever Odi double ton, made the highest number of centuries, the highest number of runs, most caps for the country… he did it all but his critics, which are very less in numbers, also keep reminding fans about his failures on big days.
No doubt, Sachin carried the burden of pressure and expectations of Indian cricket fans throughout his career but he also failed on a few days, when the country wanted him to lead from the front with the bat and win it for Team India.
One such day was March 23, 2003, when India played an intimidating Australia in the Icc World Cup Final in Johannesburg. The Sourav Ganguly-led Indian cricket team was on a roll in that World Cup in South Africa, where they reached the final with just one defeat in the tournament.

New Delhi, April 12 (Ians) Delhi Capitals’ Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly has said that his players will have to bat better and put up more runs on the board in their upcoming matches to reverse the downturn in their fortunes in the Indian Premier League (Ipl) 2023.
Delhi Capitals lost a last-ball thriller to Mumbai Indians at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on Tuesday, doing down by six wickets as Mumbai Indians bowled them out for 172 before chasing the total down in 20 overs. Delhi Capitals have lost four out of four so far in the tournament.
Speaking about the match, Sourav Ganguly said, “The loss certainly hurts, especially because of the way this team has played since 2019. But these things happen in sports. It’s never easy when you lose. There are so many youngsters on our side and we’ll take time to be a good team.”

On a pitch at the Arun Jaitley Stadium which was dry and offered assistance to spinners, Axar was in fine touch, and continued his dream run with the bat to get his maiden Ipl fifty in 22 balls and would make 54 eventually.
Warner, on the other hand, began well, but was unable to break free from the shackles later due to lack of timing and was finding fielders consistently, taking 43 balls to reach a laborious half-century. Though Warner got his third fifty of the competition in a 47-ball 51, it didn’t have enough power to change Delhi’s end result.
After Delhi slumped to their fourth loss of Ipl 2023, Axar revealed Warner had been trying hard to get back to his attacking self, but has been unable to do so. "No one has asked him (to be the anchor of the innings). Even in the last two-three games, when he has been trying to hit,...

New Delhi, April 3 (Ians) Delhi Capitals’ bowling attack will be under focus in a bid to bounce back in Ipl 2023 in the comfort of their home ground when they host Gujarat Titans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday.
The two teams have met only once in Ipl, during last year when Gujarat emerged victorious by 14 runs. Tuesday’s match is also the first time Gujarat will play an away match as part of the tournament returning to the home-and-away format.
Back to playing at their home base for the first time since 2019, Delhi will be itching to put up a much-improved show in all departments of the game after being underwhelming in a 50-run loss to Lucknow Super Giants in their tournament opener.
Their bowlers lacked the cutting edge with the ball, ground fielding was sloppy, and the batting line-up was blown away by Mark Wood’s raw pace.

New Delhi, March 29 (Ians) Delhi Capitals are set to sign Bengal wicket-keeper batter Abishek Porel as a replacement for the injured Rishabh Pant for the upcoming Ipl 2023.
As per an ESPNcricinfo report, Porel’s signing comes following a series of practice games at a week-long preparatory camp of the franchise in the national capital.
Apart from Porel, the three other uncapped wicketkeepers — Sheldon Jackson, Luvnith Sisodia and Vivek Singh — was put through a series of match simulation exercises and were monitored by the Capitals coaching group, headed by director of cricket Sourav Ganguly and head coach Ricky Ponting, over the past week.
Eventually, Capitals decided to go ahead with Porel, who during his first full season with Bengal in domestic cricket, impressed with his glove work. However, he failed to make big scores across formats, scoring just 22 runs in his three outings in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

New Delhi, March 29 (Ians) Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting is excited about Ipl 2023 moving back to the regular home and away format after three seasons of Covid-19 disruption. But at the same time, he admitted that it will be hard on players with a lot of travel involved.
In Ipl 2023, Delhi Capitals will be constantly on the move. In their schedule for the league stage, a pattern has emerged — they play one match away, then one game at home and then travel for the next away game.
“It’ll be harder on the players with much more travel in this Ipl. But this is part and parcel of franchise cricket. I think more travelling makes the tournament more exciting. We’ll get to play in a lot of different venues and in front of many different groups of fans,” Ponting said in a media release issued by the franchise.

New Delhi, March 10 (Ians) The McC World Cricket Committee said in a statement that it has unanimously concluded the game is at a crossroads and has recommended an urgent intervention from various leaders to ensure international and franchise cricket can thrive together harmoniously.
It also expressed concern over the growing disparity in the amount of international cricket played by a minority of member nations compared to others; a situation which they feel is clearly neither equitable nor sustainable.
“The majority of the committee’s meeting centred on the future of the game, specifically what global cricket might look like in ten years’ time should it be left to evolve organically. The purpose of such foresight was to examine how international cricket can be protected, amidst a global cricketing schedule that is increasingly filled with short-form franchise tournaments.”

New Delhi, Feb 24 (Ians) The McC World Cricket Committee (Wcc) has shown unanimous support to the law regarding the act of bowlers running out non-strikers over leaving their ground early, calling the law not only correct and necessary but issued a ‘call for calm’ to the global game.

New Delhi, Feb 20 (Ians) Former captain and ex-Bcci chief Sourav Ganguly hailed India’s performance after their win in the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia and said that the hosts play better than any other team on spin-friendly pitches.
Ravindra Jadeja’s best bowling figures in an inning in Test cricket (7/42) along with Ravichandran Ashwin’s spin masterclass helped India rout Australia by six wickets in the second Test within three days to go 2-0 up in the four-match series on Sunday.

Pay parity for international cricketers was initiated, which means the match fees for women’s players are now at par with their male counterparts across formats.
Recently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (Bcci) led the way for the formation and selling of franchises as well as media rights for the upcoming Women’s Premier League, to be held in March 2023. It has made the five-team Wpl the second-most valuable women’s sports league in the world, behind only the 12-team Women’s NBA in the US.
There was also the adoption and upgradation of a new digital interface, which would help the state associations approve and recommend to the Bcci release of fees to players digitally.
Also, an inaugural U-15 girls one-day tournament has been started from this season to unearth more hidden talent and nurture them to rise through the ranks in women’s cricket. The...

England, chasing a revised target of 364 from 48 overs, never got going and lost wickets at regular intervals as Zampa (4-31), Pat Cummins (2-25), and Sean Abbott (2-45) helped the hosts bowl out England for 142 in 31.4 overs to hand their archrivals biggest defeat ever in 50-Over format.
A number of records fell at the McG on Tuesday as Head and Warner put England to the sword with a brilliant opening partnership. During their...

London, Nov 11 (Ians) Former England skipper Michael Vaughan has slammed the Indian team think-tank for not making the most out of the talent and explosiveness of Rishabh Pant during the Men’s T20 World Cup.
Pant, the left-handed batter, was picked for the semifinal against England ahead of Dinesh Karthik due to his ability of taking down spinners in the middle overs. But India were unable to match-up Pant with England’s spinners, Adil Rashid and Liam Livingstone, as captain Jos Buttler finished their overs quickly before the left-handed batter arrived at the crease in the 19th over.
“How they have not maximised someone like Rishabh Pant is incredible. In this era, put him up the top to launch it. I’m just staggered by how they play T20 cricket for the talent they have.
“They have the players, but just do not have the right process in place. They have to go for it.

Kolkata, Nov 4 (Ians) A public interest litigation (Pil) has been filed at Calcutta High Court against the removal of former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (Bcci) President.
The Pil, filed by advocate Ramaprasad Sarkar, is likely to be heard on Tuesday.
Sarkar’s argument is that Ganguly was removed from the Bcci chief’s post despite there was a clear order from the Supreme Court that he could continue in that chair for another three years. “The apex court order also cleared the way for Jay Shah to continue as Bcci Secretary for another three years till 2025. However, despite Shah continuing to remain in his chair, Ganguly was removed,” he said.
He also said that being the former captain of the Indian cricket team and also former player of the Bengal team, Ganguly is the pride of Bengal. “This is an insult for the state.
