Cannes TV trade fair MipTV may be its most boutique in recent years, but shows are coming onto the market – or screened at the parallel Canneseries TV festival which begins Friday – that will whet buyers’ appetites. Some roll of buzz from the London TV Screenings or Series Mania. Others are completely fresh, or pretty much off the radar.

This year’s Met Gala will be a garden party.
Vogue announced Thursday that the 2024 gala — taking place May 6 — will coincide with the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute’s “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” exhibit. Dress code for the evening is “The Garden of Time.”
Anna Wintour’s co-chairs for the evening include Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth. This year will mark Hemsworth’s first time at the ball, with the three other co-chairs having attended in the past. “Garden of Time” is inspired by J.G. Ballard’s 1962 short story of the same title
The announcement was made on Vogue’s social channels along with a video of text messages Wintour sent to the co-chairs asking if they’re free on May 6.
“Anyone got a Garden of Time outfit I can borrow,” Hemsworth wrote in an Instagram post alongside the text message chain.

Jared Leto certainly knows how to make an impression. The actor made a splash at the 2023 Met Gala when he dressed up as Karl Lagerfeld's cat, Choupette. It's not Leto's first time interacting with the designer either, as the actor is slated to play the late fashion figure in a biopic, per The Hollywood Reporter. Leto even managed to charm Lagerfeld while the designer was alive; according to Wwd, Leto told Lagerfeld, "You know, one day I have to play you in a movie," to which Lagerfeld responded, "Only you, darling, only you."
Plenty of women have also fallen for Leto's charm over the years. You may recall that the Oscar winner and 30 Seconds to Mars frontman dated Cameron Diaz back in the day. You're probably also aware of that now-famous photo of then-girlfriend Scarlett Johansson trying to kiss him while he checked his cell phone, but how...

Jared Leto isn't afraid to take risks when it comes to the Met Gala. On Monday, the 51-year-old actor and musician walked the Metropolitan Museum of Art steps in New York City dressed as none other than the late Karl Lagerfeld's cat, Choupette. According to USA Today, Leto declared to photographers on the carpet in French, "C'est moi, Choupette!"
Leto appeared to have the most fun as he struck silly poses on the red carpet and linked up with Lizzo and his "WeCrashed" costar Anne Hathaway. He kept up the antics even after changing out of the full bodysuit and carried around the cat costume head to afterparties. Later, on May 5, Leto shared some more photos of his feline self with other stars on Instagram, writing, "Cat selfies from my camera...

“The Good Place” and “She-Hulk” actor Jameela Jamil took to Instagram to slam the many celebrities who attended the 2023 Met Gala, which honored the late fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld. Met Gala attendees paid tribute to Lagerfeld in various ways, including Jared Leto and Doja Cat dressing up as Lagerfeld’s cat, Choupette. Jamil noted that many of the celebs in attendance this year were outspoken feminists, despite Lagerfeld’s bigoted comments against fat women. The fashion designer infamously told the German fashion magazine Focus in 2009, “No one wants to see curvy women.”
“Last night Hollywood and fashion said the quiet part out loud when a lot of famous feminists chose to celebrate at the highest level a man who was so publicly cruel to women, to fat people, to immigrants and to sexual assault survivors,” Jamil wrote (via Entertainment Weekly). “And all the women’s publications, and spectators online, chose to gleefully ignore it.

As usual, the 2023 Met Gala was a fashionable star-studded event with appearances from the biggest names across music, entertainment, sports, and, of course, fashion. This year's event, held on May 1 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, welcomed everything from pregnancy reveals (courtesy of Serena Williams and Karlie Kloss) and date nights to couple debuts, solo returns, and family outings to the Met's red carpet. However, there were also a lot of notable faces absent, and many fashion fans are wondering why.
The biggest surprise this year was Blake Lively, a Met Gala staple, announcing days before fashion's biggest night that she wouldn't be attending. Her husband, Ryan Reynolds, also opted out of attending to, instead, handle some soccer business across the pond, according to him.
But others like Ariana Grande, Bella Hadid, Timothée Chalamet, Kaia Gerber, and even the late Karl Lagerfeld's cat, Choupette (the designer was this year's...

The 2023 Met Gala was a celebration of Karl Lagerfeld, meaning the May 1 event was an elaborate showcase of vintage Chanel looks and modern interpretations of the designer's work. However, one slightly more nontraditional aspect of Lagerfeld's life led to several of the night's most memorable looks: both Jared Leto and Doja Cat wore particularly unforgettable tributes to Lagerfeld's beloved cat, Choupette.

The designer leaves behind a complex legacy, as he was known for misogyny, fatphobia, and homophobia in addition to his groundbreaking work in fashion design. But his legendary love for Choupette is a particularly sweet aspect of his history, making her a logical muse for more adventurous attendees. The elegant Birman belonged to Lagerfeld for a decade and has spent her life in the lap of luxury.

At Monday’s Met Gala, Doja Cat wowed and meowed as she channeled — fittingly — Karl Lagerfeld’s beloved pet cat Choupette. And Jared Leto even took the feline fashion a step further, showing up in a full-on cat suit.
Doja Cat is known for her daring looks; during Couture Fashion Week in Paris earlier this year, the singer and rapper made headlines for her look in head-to-toe red body paint and 30,000 red Swarovski crystals (applied by makeup artist Pat McGrath and her team) for the Schiaparelli Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2023 runway show. And Leto — who Nick Jonas said “came as a furry” — is also known for his experimental style.

One of the most talked about Met Gala guests has arrived.
Kim Kardashian turned up to Monday’s event wearing custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture by Daniel Roseberry, a design that featured a molded corset in blush satin underneath a draped skirt and top made from more than 50,000 freshwater pearls and 16,000 crystals. According to Schiaparelli, the look took a dozen artisans more than 1,000 hours to create, as each strand of pearls was strung and draped to her body. Kardashian accessorized the look with a choker, pearl drop earrings, ruffled sleeves that flowed into a long train, and ivory heels.
Upon hitting the carpet, Kardashian spoke with Vogue’s special correspondent Derek Blasberg about the inspiration behind the custom look. “I wanted to feel glamorous,” she said, noting that while she normally feels pressure to deliver something major, she didn’t this year. “I just wanted to have a good time. At the 2023 Met Gala red carpet, stars including Cardi B, Doja Cat, Jared Leto and more paid homage to the late Karl Lagerfeld (and his pet cat, Choupette), who is the subject of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s latest Costume Institute fashion exhibit.
The museum’s annual fundraiser was co-chaired by Penélope Cruz, Michaela Coel, Roger Federer, Dua Lipa, and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, who has organized and presided over the event since 1995. Titled “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” this year’s Costume Institute collection honors the life and legendary career of the late designer who passed away on Feb. 19, 2019, and features more than 150 pieces including sketches.
Met Gala guests often have embraced outrageous custom looks inspired by exhibition themes, like 2019’s Camp: Notes on Fashion. But affection for Lagerfeld the man and a love of his work may result in a carpet tilted more toward elegance than costume.

No one has ever accused Karl Lagerfeld of being too modest. In a wide-ranging Q&A with The Cut, the famed fashion designer gives a glimpse into his life of glamour—and, in doing so, reminds readers just how out of touch he is with the modern world. For example, Lagerfeld says his pampered pet, a cat named Choupette, "adores" private planes. "You know, the problem with private jets is that even if you have a big one, if you have many people [aboard], then it is a nightmare. More than three or four, forget about it. I remember I came back from Moscow and brought all my assistants. It was the worst flight, because they asked for drinks and this and that," he complains. "I like to sleep in...
