Gage Allen is an American Film Director, Producer, Writer, Cinematographer, Video Game Trailer Editor, Sound Designer, Motion Graphics Artist, Creative Director, Gameplay Capture Artist, CEO, and Forbes 30 under 30 lister.
Born in Winnemucca, Nevada, Gage lived in the United States during his early life until his family moved to Durango, Durango, Mexico. There, Gage found his passion for film during the 10 years he was to spend living in Mexico, creating numerous short films and video game inspired media. In 2010, Gage, now fluent in Spanish, moved back up to the United States due to the consistent danger of the Drug Cartel war that surrounded their last three years of staying in Durango.
Choosing to reside in the Pacific Northwest, he continued writing scripts and directing short films. Allen eventually took these skills into the video game industry, directing game trailers, cinematics, and more, most notably for Pacific Drive (2022-2023), Divinity: Original Sin II (2019), Baldur's Gate 3 (2020-2021), Path of Titans (2022-2023), Mythforce (2022-2023), Wyrdsong (2022), Pistol Whip (2020-2023), Stellaris (2017-2018), The Long Dark (2019-2020), and several other games. His work has received over 200 awards from various shows in the industry, and reached over 100 million views. He is among the highest awarded game trailer directors in the world.
In 2016, Gage founded Player One Trailers, a full-service game trailer company that creates professional game trailers and other media for indie and AAA studios/publishers globally. Player One Trailers went on to become one of the highest awarded agencies in the games industry. Gage was then named to the 2021 Forbes 30 under 30 list in Gaming, at the age of 24.
In 2020, Gage expanded his company by opening up a second branch called Player One Stories, a place for him and his team to create original stories in game worlds they loved. One of the first assets to be released was This Is Battlefield, a short film directed and written by Gage Allen that went viral across the games industry, using cinematic footage captured of real players in random multiplayer matches that were unaware they were being recorded. This was followed up by a similar premise in Gage's second film called This Is Forza Horizon, released in 2021.
In 2022, Gage and Player One Stories released Episode 1 of Destiny: Solas, an original show based in the world of Destiny, done using a format Gage created called Immersiplay. Immersiplay, as Gage described it, is the combination of various styles of filmmaking, on top of genres of content like Let's Plays, Roleplays, and Gameplay. Heavily inspired by the crafted nuance of E3 demos from the last 20 years, Gage wanted to take the cinematic immersive feeling of movement and gameplay, and use state of the art visual effects, animation, and audio design, to create entire moments within a game that are fake, but made to appear real. This resulted in Destiny: Solas, where the Guardian character is given a voice, and entirely new lines of dialogue are created to blur the lines between what was in the game originally, and what was created solely for the show. Gage had been working on Destiny: Solas for six years.
