“Top Chef” wasted no time throwing the contestants’ into the heat of the competition, going straight into the Elimination Challenge in last week’s season premiere, “Chef’s Test.” Some chefs passed their test with flying colors while others struggled. So who went out in episode two, “Living the High Life”? Read on to find out.
David Murphy was the first chef ousted from the competition, leaving 14 on the main show competing for a chance to win a feature in Food and Wine magazine; an appearance at the Food and Wine Classic in Aspen, Colorado; and $250,000 in prize money: Manny Barella, Kaleena Bliss, Kevin D’Andrea, Alisha Elenz, Danny Garcia, Valentine Howell Jr., Dan Jacobs, Savannah Miller, Kenny Nguyen, Laura Ozyilmaz, Charly Pierre, Amanda Turner, Rasika Venkatesa and Michelle Wallace.
Manny won the Elimination Challenge in “Chef’s Test,” so he has immunity from elimination, but he doesn’t want to get too relaxed.

“Top Chef” started its 21st season last week with 15 cheftestants vying for the grand prize, but the show revealed there will be a 16th contestant entering the kitchen: Soo Ahn will fight his way through “Last Chance Kitchen” for a chance to win a spot on the main show and ultimately win the whole competition. In past seasons Brooke Williamson, Joe Flamm and current host Kristen Kish won “Lck” and then came back to win the grand prize. Can he make that arduous climb?

In 2018, Chicago chef Joe Flamm was crowned the winner of Top Chef: Colorado. The meal that clinched his victory was an ambitious Italian feast consisting of tortellini en brodo, ribeye with a smoked bone marrow sauce, and a wagyu-dusted play on tonno vitellato — a showcase of pure culinary prowess.
That same year, social media coordinator and amateur baker Elena Timman won the debut episode of Netflix’s Nailed It! with what was meant to be a Sylvia Weinstock-inspired wedding cake. The prize-winning cake’s prevailing components: it was upright, edible, and bore a texture that the judges deemed “Ok.” While a greatly limited skill set would have likely gotten Flamm laughed out of the kitchen, it was enough to earn Timman $10,000 and heartfelt praise from the judging panel, which included the late Weinstock herself.

On last week‘s “Top Chef” Kelsey Barnard Clark earned her second win of the season, putting her in a comfortable and confident position going in to tonight’s penultimate episode with the Final 4. In terms of record she still trailed Eric Adjepong‘s three wins and only one low score, but edged out Michelle Minori and Sara Bradley each with only one win. Three chefs were promised a trip to the finale, so after taking inspiration from their own cultures and fusing it with Macanese ingredients, who earned their spot?

Last week, as “Top Chef” 16 headed to Macau, China, while building to its big finale on March 14, Michelle Minori won the Quickfire Challenge with her clever cuttlefish noodles with Chinese beans and lotus root. Kelsey Barnard Clark (see photo above) nailed the Elimination Challenge by mixing her Southern flair with the tastes of Macau by serving a mushroom broth loaded with peas, greens, orange rinds, Portugese sausage, cashews, cilatro and chives. Even hard-to-please Padma Lakshmi declared it beautiful.
And, as predicted by our poll last week when Adrienne Wright earned zero votes in our Gold Derby poll that asked which of the five remaining chefs most deserved to win, she made the judge’s least-favorite dish for an event celebrating Chinese New Year. Serving a small bite consisting of a fried sticky rice cake, hoisin braised pork belly and roasted chili aioli just didn’t cut it with judges Tom Colicchio and Graham Elliot.

There are just three more episodes to go on Bravo’s “Top Chef” Season 16 before the finale set in Macau, China airs on March 14. Tonight, a fifth chef will be leaving on episode 13, which is devoted to the theme of Chinese New Year and the Year of the Pig.
Those who answered our poll gave us a big whopping clue about who they think that person might be. Adrienne Wright, a Boston-based chef, is the only player left who has never won an Elimination Challenge. And for the past two weeks, she earned back-to-back low scores. Maybe a extreme change of venue will put her back on her game. She got a goose egg, nada, zilch, zero votes.
Somewhat surprisingly, D.C.-based chef Eric Adjepong, who has claimed the prize in three Elimination Challenges and has never received a low score, is tied with Bay-area chef Michelle Minori, each getting 29% of the vote.

It shouldn’t be too surprising that a male chef leads the final six remaining players on “Top Chef” so far this season. Eleven of the 15 winners so far have been male. There’s been some progress since Stephanie Izard in Season 4 became first woman to come in first. But it took six years until No. 2 Kristen Kish claimed the “Top Chef” title, Since then, Mei Lin (Season 12) and Brooke Williamson (Season 14) rose to the top as well.
But Eric Adjepong (seen above), just one of two men still kicking on Season 16, has come by his favorite status with 43% predicting he will be this season’s champ in the best way possible – by making great food, often with African flavors. True, he has yet to win a Quickfire Challenge but he has never been a low-scorer. As for Elimination Challenges, Eric rules as the only player to win three – the last two back-to-back.

Philly native Eddie Konrad underwhelmed in a Muhammed Ali-themed challenge on “Top Chef” this week, but he has a chance to return by going against “Lck’s” current champ who hails from San Francisco, Michelle Minori. As host and judge Tom Colicchio tells us, “Will Michelle rise to victory and rejoin the ranks? Or will Eddie dig deep and prove he wants it more.”
Eddie walks in with confidence, his knife bag a-swinging. Tom asks Michelle if she thinks she can beat him. “I want to. Eddie is tough.” She then admits she was not expecting to see Eddie on the after-show. “He’s one of the strongest chefs here, I think.” Not to put any pressure on the pair, but Tom reminds them that since “Last Chance Kitchen” will be shutting down for Season 16 of “Top Chef,”whoever wins goes back into the competition and joins five other players.

As Dorothy once said about Oz, people come and go so quickly on “Top Chef.”
Last week, San Francisco area chef Michelle Menori (above) won the music-inspired challenge in Nashville. But this week’s basketball-themed assignment of making court-side dishes that were served at the Rupp Arena at the University of Kentucky led her to make ribs whose sauce was good but the meat itself was too wet.
So welcome to “Last Chance Kitchen” where Menori will be subjected to basketball puns including whether current Lck resident David Viana, a New Jersey chef, might block her shot to redeem herself. She strides into the cooking area “ready for war.” David loves Michelle as a person but “she’s going down.”
Host and judge Tom Colicchio asks if she surprised to be eliminated. She admits she was. Tom says he is giving her another chance to make her best game-day dish.

Somehow I missed the fact that a new “Top Chef” season – No. 16, to be exact — premiered two weeks ago. Thank goodness, my DVR remembered for me. While “The Great British Baking Show” has taken over the Bravo staple’s prime seat at the dining table of my heart when it became available on these shores, “Top Chef” is a close second in fulfilling what I crave in a cooking competition show.
The Food Network’s pantry of watching options continues to entice me. But they rarely fully satisfy my appetite. “Iron Chef America” is too beholden to a ticking clock and, like many food-related contests, is contained in a single space. I like the chef judges on “Chopped,” especially Alex Guarnascelli, but the format only occasionally allows for surprises and twists. I can tell the minute someone puts a crispy fish fillet atop a moist ingredient or pours on sesame...

“Top Chef” season 15 ended on March 8, 2018 with host Padma Lakshmi revealing the winner chosen by two renowned chefs — Tom Colicchio and Graham Elliot — and award-winning food writer Gail Simmons. Chicago native Joe Flamm edged out New Yorker Adrienne Cheatham for the title of “Top Chef: Colorado.”
Flamm staged an impressive comeback after flaming out in the competition in episode 9. He won the right to return by his performance on “Last Chance Kitchen.” Heading into the final, he had won four challenges while Cheatham had prevailed in just two. In the end, he proved to be too tough to beat, with his dishes also rating top marks from culinary experts Nancy Silverton, Jonathan Waxman and Curtis Duffy.

Joseph Flamm may have been voted out of “Top Chef” midway through Season 15, but he didn’t let that stop him from claiming the ultimate prize on Thursday, March 8. And the winner of Top Chef is... Season 15 of Bravo's longrunning reality hit competition series has come to an end, and dare we say this was one of the best seasons in awhile?! Left to battle it out in TV's toughest culinary competition heading into Thursday night's finale were Adrienne Cheatham and Joe Flamm, with Flamm returning to the competition after winning Last Chance Kitchen. But in the end, only one chef's name was called out by Padma Lakshmi as the winner of the Colorado-set season, and it was Joe! Those judges sure do love them a Last Chance Kitchen comeback, don't they? "I can't believe it, I don't even know. It feels f--king amazing," he said. "I'm...
