Hamid Saeidi is a Grammy Award-winning Iranian-American musician, composer, producer, and Santoor artist. He composes and performs traditional and modern Persian, Iranian Folk, and New-Age music. He is the first Iranian musician to win a Grammy Award.
As a solo artist he has released two studio albums and performed at the Dolby Theater, Royce Hall, and LACMA, as well as internationally with "Hamid Saeidi and International Performers". He is a co-founder and member of the music group, Opium Moon, whose eponymous album won a Grammy Award in 2019 and formerly toured internationally with recording artists Mamak Khadem and Omer Faruk Tekbilek.
The Farhang Foundation commissioned original multimedia compositions by Hamid for "Imaginary Knots" for the foundation's annual "Celebration of Persian Culture" at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).
Saeidi is an international advocate for peace and has spoken and performed at TED Mumbai as well as teaming up with Taylor Hanson and co-producing, Baraye (the Voice Project with 16,000 Voices), in solidarity with 16,000 Iranian political prisoners.
Early Life - Hamid Saeidi (born in Tehran, Iran) began studying Persian classical music when he was 15 years old and studied under several teachers including Majid Kiani. He received a Music Degree from the Iranian Academy of the Arts pursued a MFA in music composition studying under Farhad Fakhreddini and Vartan Sahakian.
