The event officially kicked off on September 17, and brand new original movies will debut on Saturdays at 8p/7c from now through October 28, 2023.

HBO Max is expanding its kids and family programming slate with B-Loved, a ghostly romance two-part special event starring Peyton List (Cobra Kai), along with three live-action acquisitions, including all three seasons of Hank Zipzer, based on the book written by Henry Winkler and Lin Oliver, inspired by Winkler’s life.
B-Loved (working title), from Endeavor Content and Wonder Worldwide, stars List as Bea, a free-spirited teenage ghost who forms a special friendship with the new boy in town, Cole, whose house she has been inhabiting for over 100 years. With the help of a magical ring that allows Cole to see Bea, they’ll rediscover the meaning of being alive, but also the importance of letting go. Written by Black List Nicholl Fellowship winner, Cesar Vitale, the special will be directed by Emily Ting (Tall Girl 2). It’s scheduled to premiere in time for Valentine’s Day 2023 on HBO Max.

“World of Dance” has narrowed the field to the very best performers of the season, but there are only four slots available in the World Final. Two of those were decided last week when Jefferson y Adrianita and Geometrie Variable out-danced four other acts. So which two will join them in Wednesday night’s season finale? Fans have been placing their bets here in our predictions center. We’ve combined those forecasts to calculate our official racetrack odds for tonight’s show.
The six acts vying for the last two slots include three from the Junior Division (under age 18) and three from the Upper Division (age 18 and up). From the child and teen set we’ve got hip-hop duo Bailey and Kida, contemporary trio Mdc 3 and contemporary soloist Keagan Capps. Representing the adults are the fusion team Oxygen, the hip-hop crew UPeepz and the contemporary duo Jake and Chau.

Contemporary dancer Kurtis Sprung comes to “World of Dance” with an impressive resume: he’s got a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and Choreography, and he danced and choreographed for Cirque du Soleil. But does he have what it takes to win the million-dollar grand prize on the competition series? NBC shared with Gold Derby an exclusive preview of his Qualifiers performance to “Torches” by X Ambassadors. Watch it above.

Derek Hough thought his performance was “really beautiful.” There was a certain “awkward” quality to the way the dancer shifted his momentum in different directions that Hough liked. Hough even pegged right away that Sprung has a circus background due to his “creature-like” movements. But “I wanted to be more drawn in,” said the judge.

“World of Dance” is “one of the biggest opportunities I’ve ever had,” said 13-year-old Keagan Capps in the third week of Qualifiers on the NBC competition series. She’s from a small town in Oklahoma but the teenage contemporary dancer actually performed to Gabriella‘s cover of The Cranberries‘ “Zombie.” And she’s so damn flexible it was virtually a contortionist act. Watch her performance above.
“Show off!” said Jennifer Lopez as soon as Capps was done with her routine. Derek Hough added, “Sometimes when I see that it looks like Gumby, and it looks uncontrolled, but you had so much control and so much stability in everything that you did. It was so wonderful to watch.” Ne-Yo noted that “when a dancer can do that, they tend to overdo it. It’s like, ‘Look, hey, I’m super-flexible,’ and is that it? Is that all there is?” But...

The Kings, a hip-hop dance crew from Mumbai, has found international glory with their victory on American reality television show "World of Dance", taking home a cash prize of $1 million.
"The Kings are official 'World of Dance' royalty. Sending big love to our champions," read a post from the official Twitter handle of "World Of Dance".
Judges Jennifer Lopez, Ne-Yo, and Derek Hough stood up in awe of the finale performance of the NBC show by the all-men group The Kings, which performed a high-octane sequence involving stunts in slow-motion.
The 14-member Bolly-Hop squad, involving males aged 17-27, was consistently getting ace scores during its run on the show.
Among their competitors were Canadian contemporary dancer Briar Nolet, the sister duo of Ellie and Ava, VPeepz, a hip-hop group from the Philippines, and Unity La, a 10-person squad from Southern California.

Half of the “World of Dance” season three finale was dedicated to the battle for the world championship, but the first half of the show was a reunion of sorts. Special performances brought back a few favorites from past seasons including Sean and Kaycee, Ian Eastwood and season two champions The Lab. But I was especially impressed by the returns of season two finalists Michael Dameski and Charity and Andres, who joined forces with judge Derek Hough for a performance that would have been competitive for the win if it had been part of the actual competition. Watch it above.
Dameski was the “World of Dance” runner-up last year (though he would have been my personal pick to win), while Charity and Andres finished just behind him in third place. As far as I’m concerned they’re two of the strongest contemporary acts the show has seen thus far,...

After 12 weeks and 5 rounds of competition, the “World of Dance” season 3 finale took place on Sunday night, May 5, with the million dollar grand prize up for grabs. So who won the World Final, and who fell short? Find out below in our live blog with all the minute-by-minute developments as they happened.
Last week’s Divisional Final decided the four acts that would face off in the finale: The Kings (Upper Team Division), Briar Nolet (Upper Division), VPeepz (Junior Team Division) and Ellie and Ava (Junior Division). But that might not have been all. It was announced during the Divisional Final that the judges would have the option to select one eliminated contestant to send through to the World Final as a wild card pick. That wild card (if there was one) wasn’t revealed during that episode, so fans had to wait until tonight to find out who else made it through.

The Kings have run roughshod over the competition this season on “World of Dance,” and going into this weekend’s World Final for the million-dollar grand prize, fans who have made their predictions here in our predictions center think the coronation is about the be complete. They get leading odds of 21/50 of becoming the season three champions. Is there any chance of an upset? Maybe, just maybe.
The Kings are a dance crew from Mumbai, India, who have blended unique cultural references into their hip-hop style. They exploded out of the gate with a monster score of 97.7 during the Qualifiers. Then they won their Duel with a 99.3. They easily survived the Cut with another 97.7. And they dominated the Upper Team Divisional Final with their best score yet, 99.7. Their lowest score is higher than most other acts’ personal bests.

“World of Dance” is about to end its third season, and for the third time in a row there’s a contemporary soloist in the World Final competing for the million dollar grand prize: Upper Division champion Briar Nolet. But so far only hip-hop dancers have ever won the show. Can Nolet succeed where Eva Igo and Michael Dameski failed? Make your predictions here in our predictions center for Sunday night’s grand finale.
Eva Igo became a fan favorite when she competed on the show during its first season. She made it to the World Final, but was narrowly beaten by hip-hop duo Les Twins in a battle that came down to literally one-tenth of a point — so close, yet so far. Igo even tried her luck on the show again in season two, but she was upset midway through the competition, knocked out during the Duels by Avery and Marcus.

The three acts who survived the Cut in each division now face off one last time to decide the division champs. The Upper Team Division has been the most competitive field all season. But “World of Dance” fans we’ve polled in our predictions center thought The Kings would have the Divisional Final in the bag. Were they right?

“World of Dance” introduced a new twist this year: the Redemption Round. After the head-to-head, single-elimination Duels, the two eliminated acts with the highest scores got to perform again for a chance at one last wild-card slot in the Cut. Well, three of those redeemed acts ended up surviving the Cut, and now they’re on their way to the Divisional Final. Could all three make their way to the World Final? Could one of them even win the million-dollar grand prize? That would be the ultimate redemption.
Contemporary soloist Briar Nolet lost her Upper Division Duel to hip-hop-ballroom duo All Ready. But she won her redemption dance, and then in the Cut she ended up with the highest score in the division (95.3), while All Ready were eliminated. Sweet revenge! Now our readers think Nolet is the favorite to win the Upper Divisional Final too.

The “World of Dance” judges also served as mentors during The Cut, which concluded on Sunday night, April 21. But I wonder if Jennifer Lopez‘s counseling might have significantly affected the outcome in the Junior Division. Her advice to former front-runner Lauren Yakima might have hurt the young contemporary dancer more than it helped her. Watch Yakima’s routine above.
Yakima got the highest score in the Junior Division during the Qualifiers (95.7), and then she got the highest score again during the Duels (96.0). But Lopez thought her Duels performance needed more of an emotional hook to go along with her intense athletics. She likes routines that tell a story, especially from contemporary dancers, and she wanted Yakima to open up and let herself be more vulnerable on stage.

The contemporary duo Derion and Madison have made it to the Divisional Final on “World of Dance” along with their Upper Division rivals Briar Nolet and Poppin John. That was thanks to the big score they earned during the Cut. But they took a chance when they presented their routine on the show. As you can see from the behind-the-scenes rehearsal footage above, they had a different ending in mind from the one they showed the judges.
“We all know the experience of being in a relationship that you don’t know why you’re staying,” Derion explained about the meaning of the dance. That’s evident in the passionate push-and-pull through their performance set to The Weeknd‘s “Call Out My Name,” but the routine originally ended with Derion making a flying leap over Madison, missing her as she ducks out of the way. When they brought that routine before the judges,...

The “World of Dance” competitors made it through both the Qualifiers and the Duels, so it’s time for the third round of competition, the Cut, which is aptly named because it chops the remaining field in half: six acts go in, but only three come out in each division. Find out below in our live blog with all the minute-by-minute developments as they happen.

They’ve made it through the Qualifiers, and they’ve made it through the Duels. This weekend “World of Dance” enters its next round, the Cut, which is aptly named since it will cut the field in half. Will Upper Division soloist Briar Nolet advance to the next round? NBC has released a preview of her performance (watch it above), but we’ll have to wait until Sunday night to find out what the judges thought.
I think Nolet is one of the most outstanding acts of the season with clean, precise, flowing movements and almost unparalleled acrobatic skill. Since “World of Dance” premiered in 2017, some of its biggest breakouts have been contemporary solo dancers like teenager Eva Igo in season one and Aussie Michael Dameski in season two. So why have contemporary soloists struggled so much for recognition in season three? Midway through the season, several such dancers have been eliminated or made it through by the skin of their teeth. Are the judges being too hard on them this year, or does this crop of contenders not measure up to the high standards Igo and Dameski set?
There has been one major exception to the contemporary soloist curse this season: Lauren Yakima, who bears some resemblance to Igo and also shares her heart-on-her-sleeve emotional style. Her Qualifiers and Duels performances were the two highest scoring routines in the Junior Division all season, and deservedly so — her moves would be the envy of Neo in “The Matrix.” But...

Contemporary solo dancers have had a hard time getting the time of day from “World of Dance” judges this season, with contestants like Derek Piquette and Aydin Eyikan getting eliminated and Briar Nolet barely squeaking through thanks to her redemption dance. It seems like the judges have bundled up all that support and given it to Junior Division soloist Lauren Yakima, though it’s not hard to see why. The teenage dynamo is reminiscent of another judges’ fave from the first two seasons of the competition: Eva Igo. Will Yakima make it as far as her predecessor? You’d think age and experience would be an advantage in an elite competition like “World of Dance,” but the kids keep showing up their elders. The winners of season two were the hip-hop junior team The Lab, and based on the results we’ve seen so far, the kids could wipe the floor with the grownups again this year.
The junior and senior dancers won’t face off until the world final at the very end of the season, when the winners in the Upper Division, Upper Team Division, Junior Division and Junior Team Division will square off for the million dollar grand prize. The 10 junior teams who made it out of the Qualifiers faced off in five head-to-head Duels. The winners of those battles advanced to the next round of the competition. Then the two highest scoring dance crews that lost their Duels faced off at the end of the night in a redemption round for one last wild card slot. By the end of the night six teams remained in...

Fans don’t get a vote on “World of Dance,” the NBC competition series that is pre-recorded and decided only by the trio of judges: Jennifer Lopez, Derek Hough and Ne-Yo. But if they did get a vote, I have a feeling Briar Nolet would be hard to beat. After she performed during the Qualifiers, she was the overwhelming favorite of the readers we polled. And she was even more dominant in our poll following the Duels, even though she barely made it to the next round. So why haven’t the judges’ scores kept up with the audience response? Scroll down for our poll results at the bottom of this post.

“World of Dance” judge Ne-Yo warned us when he said that there are no underdogs on this show because everyone is world class, but even then it’s hard to imagine a surprise like we saw on Sunday night in the Duels. Coming out of the Qualifiers, the top four highest scoring acts in the Upper Division were Tobias and the EZTwins, Dd Flection, Derek Piquette and Denise and Josh. But when the Duels were over all four were eliminated while the bottom six moved on to the next round. What does that mean for the next three divisions?
The scores from the Qualifiers didn’t carry over to the Duels, but the highest scoring acts from the first round had a distinct advantage: they got to pick their opponents. You’d think they would have picked opponents they could beat, and perhaps they thought they did. But one by one the front-runners went down.

Derek Piquette was one of the “World of Dance” contestants this season I was rooting for the most coming out of the Qualifiers, where he had one of the highest scores in the Upper Division. The “So You Think You Can Dance” alum will soon undergo a double hip replacement, so depending on how that goes this might be his last dance competition at such an elite level. How did he do in round two, the Duels? Watch his performance above to find out.
Because Piquette scored so high during Qualifiers he got to pick his opponent for the Duels, and he took a big risk by choosing the contemporary duo of Derion and Madison. They only scored a point lower than him during Qualifiers, so perhaps he should have tried to pick off a lesser adversary. But there turned out to be a bigger bone of contention in his routine.

Contemporary soloist Briar Nolet wasn’t one of the highest-scoring performers during the “World of Dance” Qualifiers, and I think the judges lowballed her. So what happened when she came to the Duels and went head to head against the Latin/street fusion duo All Ready? Watch her routine above to find out.
Nolet explained to the judges that this routine was inspired by her struggle with epilepsy, which she was diagnosed with just a year ago after suffering through debilitating seizures. Jennifer Lopez praised her for her “emotional and psychological strength” and told her she was “unforgettable.” Derek Hough thought she was “powerful.” And Ne-Yo called her “phenomenal.” But when the rubber met the road and it was time to give her her scores, they still undervalued her. Especially Ne-Yo, whose reasoning I don’t quite understand. See what the judges had to say about her routine below.

After three weeks of Qualifiers on “World of Dance,” the competition has now advanced to the Duels. This single elimination round pits contestants in each division against each other: whoever wins moves on to the next round, and whoever loses is sent home on the spot … or maybe not. This year there’s a brand new twist in the Duels. For the first time, competitors who are eliminated may have a chance for redemption. So who moved forward in this grueling round, and who was left behind? Find out below in our live blog with all the minute-by-minute developments as they happen.
Because the Duels are a head-to-head round, your chances of success are only as good as who you’re up against. So a performer could theoretically win with a score of 81 if their opponent gets an 80, while another performer could lose with a score of 99 if their opponent...

Dd Flection are in another world — literally. The “World of Dance” season three hopefuls already won the show in their native Thailand. Now the contemporary pair have their sights set on the Us version, but they’ve got a long way to go before being named the best dancers on the globe for a second time. They may have made it through the Qualifiers with flying colors, but they’re among a highly competitive group of performers in the Upper Division. Who among the 10 acts in this field is the best? Scroll down to vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.
In the last two seasons the Upper Division on “World of Dance” has established itself as a dominant force. In season one the Upper Division champs Les Twins ended up winning the world championship, and in season two Upper Division winner Michael Dameski was a close runner-up.

Many dancers overcome hardships before appearing on “World of Dance,” and Briar Nolet is one of them. The contemporary soloist performed during the second round of Qualifiers, but before that we learned that her entire dance career nearly came to an end when she was a teenager and started experiencing seizures seemingly brought on by her dancing. She was eventually diagnosed with epilepsy, but that clearly didn’t stop her. The judges thought her routine was “stunning,” but did they give her the scores she deserved? Watch her routine above. Then read the judges’ comments below and let us know if you agree with them.
