During his childhood, Moritz discovered his love for film as well as photography early on, when his father took him to see the works of Robert Cappa and Irving Penn. While experimenting with his parent's analog camera, he was also fascinated by science in school. This almost led him to study medicine but, in order to pursue his passion for photography and film, he decided to do a Bachelor in Audiovisual Engineering. While studying film history as well as the technical aspects of photography and film, he gained working experience on set as a lighting technician and AC. When his desire to focus on the creative aspects of filmmaking took over, Moritz moved to Scotland to study cinematography at the Screen Academy Edinburgh. During his time in the UK, he worked on every project he could get his hands on as a DP. Back in Germany, he worked as a lighting technician in Berlin as well as at ARRI Berlin and continued his work as a DP. To further his knowledge, Moritz enrolled at the Hamburg Media School for a MA in Cinematography, where he shot various award-winning short films. Since his graduation, Moritz works as a freelance DP on commercials, feature films, TV-Shows, music- videos, and documentary film projects.
