Curse of Oak Island star Rick Lagina was emotional and seemed crestfallen at the end of Season 11 on The History Channel. However, Marty Lagina turned his thoughts to new ways to tackle the problems they encountered, paving the way for a probable Season 12 of the show.
Curse of Oak Island Ends With Rick Lagina Being Emotional
Curse of Oak Island fans want treasure. In fact, many of them are growing tired of theories about the sources of the possible jackpot. On social media, plenty of people complain about it. However, for others, it’s a fascinating journey through history. Additionally, if it were easy to find the treasure, it would have happened years ago.

Curse of Oak Island Season 11 ended with no treasure and lots of pitfalls. History Channel fans wonder if there will be a Season 12. Despite a desperate push to get through the Money Pit, the Garden Shaft. and other promising locations, Rick Lagina and his team ended on a low note. However, he’s keen to get back into it again, claiming that he’s not going to give up.
Will Curse of Oak Island Season 12 Happen?
The History Channel probably won’t cancel the series, because viewership is so good, per Forbes. While treasure wasn’t found, millions of people tuned in for the amazing history lesson. And, what a lesson it was in Season 11. Strong links between the Vikings and the Knights Templar suggested the two cultures assisted as the Knights faced persecution in Europe.

The Curse of Oak Island Season 11 ended last night, but not before the Fellowship of the Dig vowed to continue the search and even agreed on a whole new area for exploration next year.
The guys took one last shot with the borehole drill, putting down a core a mere eight feet to the north of the Garden Shaft inside the rock feature surrounding the shaft. Geo-scientists Dr. Ian Spooner and Dr. Fred Michel had taken more water samples and declared this was the spot to drill.
Marty Lagina and the others were clearly excited, and expectations rose when they reached the target depth of just below 100 feet. Unfortunately, the core was full of sand and clay.
There was palpable disappointment amongst the guys; Marty summed it up when he said once again they’ve come to the end of a season and they “don’t have the treasure or the story in our hands.

The Curse of Oak Island Season 11 ends with the guys having one last go with the borehole drill to find a treasure vault before they wrap up for the winter.
After 24 episodes of some serious ups and downs, the guys won’t pause for even a second as they squeeze every last available second out of the season to get more clues, answers, and treasures.
This year’s main thrust was rehabilitation and excavation of the Garden Shaft; however, that project came to a crushing halt after flood water came gushing in. The Dumas miners will be working on the problem behind the scenes, but our guys are worried that an ancient flood tunnel may have been breached.

This week on The Curse of Oak Island, the guys start drilling for precious metals in the Baby Blob area near the Garden Shaft.
Also, on tonight’s show, Rick Lagina and a few of the guys will continue their European odyssey, uncovering links between the Templar Knights and the Vikings. And there’s an “astounding” find at Nolan’s Cross.
The borehole drill team, led by geologist Terry Matheson, finally begins exploratory drilling in the Baby Blob area this week.
This area is a few feet west of the Garden Shaft, where geoscientist Dr. Ian Spooner claims there’s a large amount of precious metal buried between 80 and 120 feet.
The guys had previously held off drilling here so the Dumas miners could safely excavate the Garden Shaft. But with that project on indefinite hiatus, Terry and his team can finally move in.

The Curse of Oak Island team has begun excavating a new human-made circular stone feature in the swamp near Nolan’s Cross, which could be the spot where ancient Christian relics are buried.
This week’s episode started with disappointment. The rehabilitation and excavation of the Garden Shaft was the primary focus of this season, but it has been plagued with problems.
Dumas representatives informed Rick Lagina and the guys that approximately 479 gallons of seawater were currently gushing into the shaft, and pumping out such a quantity of water would make the whole structure unstable.
That means the project is on hold while the Dumas miners figure out what is the best option. Unfortunately, we are careering toward the end of the season, which sadly means that could be the end of the project for Season 11.
Thankfully, the guys have plenty to keep them occupied, and they’ve switched focus...

Rick Lagina & Marty Lagina Hunt For Treasure On Curse Of Oak Island
Fans who complain the show is lagging and too full of theories might feel happy to know that a particular book might help find some real treasure. Wouldn’t it be useful to find out someone had gotten hold of a book and put in illustrations and notes? It would almost be like finding a treasure map or at least clues to help find that treasure. This week on The Curse of Oak Island, the guys found multiple artifacts that featured precious metals such as silver and gold, and they found another item that could date back to the 12th century.
Also, this week, a researcher into Freemasons and symbols asked the guys if he could search the island for the Ark of the Covenant.
The archaeologists came up winners this week. Jamie Kouba found a piece that was 90 percent silver. The hand-forged piece was likely part of a decorative tassel.
The high silver content meant this was technically classed as actual treasure. Archaeologist Laird Niven admitted that in 40 years, he had never found anything like it.
So far, the guys don’t know how old it is or where it came from, but last night, that didn’t matter; they finally had treasure!
On the same day, Jamie also uncovered a copper button gilded with a thin layer of gold.

This week on The Curse of Oak Island, the guys dated two artifacts from the Garden Shaft as original depositor items, and a new expert explained how the Vikings may have aided the Templar Knights in bringing treasures to the island.
The Dumas miner guys pulled up a series of old-looking beams from 100 feet below ground at the bottom of the Garden Shaft. The team had assumed these were part of a tunnel; however, they did not find a tunnel-shaped structure.
The guys speculated that the tunnel’s walls and ceiling had been previously removed, leaving only the floor. It could be disappointing if they can’t find a defined tunnel; they obviously cannot follow it to the treasure.
Now for some good news. Blacksmith Carmen Legge and archaeo-metallurgist Emma Cullingan combined their brain power and technology to examine two small iron artifacts found with the wood beams at the bottom of the Garden Shaft.

A new convincing theory and discovery on The Curse of Oak Island shows the team is on track to recover treasure and ancient Christian relics at the bottom of the Garden Shaft.
This week’s episode of The Curse of Oak Island had nearly everything and only stopped short of the guys showering each other with untold riches.
It was a particularly exciting episode that showed the guys making real progress in the Garden Shaft as they uncovered a potential depositor construction and a fascinating theory that states they are on the right track to find the treasure.
Freemason and Oak Island researcher Christopher Morford was in the War Room with his interesting theory. He believes that members or descendants of the medieval order of Templar Knights constructed Nolan’s Cross as a marker, pointing to where ancient Christian relics, such as the Holy Grail, are buried.

The Curse of Oak Island is really ramping up the excitement on their primary project for this season as they commence exploring the long sought-after tunnel below the Garden Shaft.
Tonight’s show is Season 11, Episode 15, and The Curse of Oak Island guys call this episode On Target.
Much of the focus will be on tracing the tunnel route they’ve all but confirmed is lying at 95 feet just below the Garden Shaft and heading toward the high deposits of precious metals sitting in the Baby Blob area.
But fans can also expect much of the focus tonight to be on the swamp and Nolan’s Cross.
Last week, the team got the results of carbon-14 dating on a piece of wood from this tunnel, and it registered a super exciting date range of 1631 to 1684. Which obviously puts it in the realm of the treasure depositors.

The Curse of Oak Island team may have finally found evidence of long-term habitation on Lot 5 and directly linked the site with the Money Pit and the Garden Shaft.
The guys have long struggled to find evidence on the island that suggests treasure depositors had lived and worked there for the extended period necessary to create the Money Pit. On last night’s show, they may have cracked the riddle.
The archaeologists have spent the last few weeks examining a stone structure found under a circular depression on Lot 5. The structure increasingly looks like a super large complex that could have housed multiple people.
Last night, archaeologist Jamie Kouba encountered what she thought may have been a crude mortar at the site. Jack Begley remembered finding similar material in the spoils pulled out of the Money Pit, so the guys sent it to archaeometallurgist Emma Culligan for analysis and comparison.

The Curse of Oak Island team started celebrating on last night’s episode as they found clear evidence of the long sought-after tunnel under the Garden Shaft.
Finally, after weeks of frustration, the flooding in the shaft was dealt with, and Dumas began probe drilling at the bottom.
The Dumas guys began drilling at 90 feet and aimed straight down, hoping to hit something at about 95 feet. The Oak Island team stood on the surface, impatiently watching the monitors, and they were rewarded when the drill struck something at 97 feet.
The drill casing was brought back up to reveal a pretty hefty chunk of wood, which will be sent straightaway for Carbon-14 dating. They’ll be hoping for a date pre-1790s.
While this is not a definitive confirmation that they’ve located the tunnel, it does seem pretty likely.

This week, on The Curse of Oak Island, the guys were busy all over the island as they continued uncovering more features in the swamp and more jewelry and coins on Lot 5.
Billy Gerhardt has been happily digging in the southwest corner of the swamp for the last couple of weeks, and he appears to have uncovered some interesting features. Last week, he hit some wood timbers, which the guys reckon may be a dam used to create the swamp.
This week, Billy uncovered some more similar stones adjacent to the old stone roadway, which made the guys conclude that they were likely an extension of the possible 500-year-old road.
The team believes they are right at the edge of either the stone road or a wharf and right at a loading zone. They are now trying to figure out exactly where the swamp/road ended and where the beach began.

The Curse of Oak Island is back tonight, and it seems likely that the guys are planning what Marty Lagina likes to call a “big dig” to excavate a new anomaly that could be the Chappell Vault.
Viewers of tonight’s show, Season 11, Episode 12, named Digging Back In, can expect three areas of focus this week. Firstly, as the name suggests, the guys will likely continue digging downward in the search for the Chappell Vault.
Last week, geologist Terry Matheson revealed that he believes the borehole drill was hovering over the Chappell Vault. The Muon Tomography survey stated there was a possible object/void at about 180 feet below, and that data tied in with an obstruction encountered six years ago with a large caisson.

Eleven seasons into History Channel‘s The Curse of Oak Island, brothers Rick and Marty Lagina (above) still get giddy when a dirt-encrusted artifact turns up in their search for buried treasure on Nova Scotia’s Oak Island. “It’s like a shot of adrenaline,” Marty says. In the two-hour Season 11 opener (premiering November 7 at 9/8c), they have plenty of adrenaline-fueled moments. On Lot 5, a section of the island purchased by the Laginas in 2022, the team find a handful of ancient coins that they’ll bring back to expert Sandy Campbell. They also continue to explore the lot’s circular land feature, 13 feet in diameter, which yields another compelling discovery: a latch that, as analysis from their on-site lab shows, is connected to a historical figure that may be a part of the Oak Island treasure. “What the lab and the sciences have contributed to unraveling this mystery has been incredible,...

With the proliferation of both structured and unstructured reality programs, the TV academy chose to split the reality program category at the Emmy Awards into two separate categories in 2014 to better recognize achievements in both genres. This year’s unstructured entrant total of 65 is up 17 from last year. There were 44 in 2020, 54 in 2019, and 62 in 2018.

A shocking new discovery at Smith’s Cove on this week’s The Curse of Oak Island suggests that the origin of the enigmatic Oak Island mystery could date much earlier, and be much more profound, than we could have ever imagined! One of the most popular shows on the History Channel is “The Curse of Oak Island.” Two brothers, Rick and Marty Lagina, set sail for the island in search of hidden treasures purportedly on the island, yet undiscovered. One of the mysteries of Oak Island is its location, in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. From a global perspective not much news happens there save for an occasional weather event, making it perfect for a reality TV program. Where there is hidden treasure there is almost certainly a legend or two to accompany it, and Oak Island is no different.
