Prime Video’s best shows prove the platform has quietly built a powerhouse lineup.
When people talk about the best TV on streaming, Prime Video usually isn’t the first name that comes up… and fair enough. It didn’t start with a giant library or a huge brand identity. Over time, Prime Video has worked hard to build up a seriously impressive reputation for the original series. Quietly, show by show, it’s pulled together a lineup that’s not just good — it’s packed with award winners, cult favorites, and cultural juggernauts that actually made an impact. Once you zoom out and take a look at the full slate from the past few years, you realize it’s got way more to offer than you might expect. So if you’re wondering where to start, here’s my personal list of the top 10 all-time TV shows on Prime Video.

Fleetwood Mac's "Silver Springs" is one of their most popular songs, especially among Gen Z, but what is the story behind the 1977 track? Lead singer Stevie Nicks has been known for her female rage songs long before Taylor Swift took over the music industry. Swift even referenced the singer in her song "Clara Bow" from The Tortured Poets Department. However, Nicks's breakup songs were even more powerful when she was a part of Fleetwood Mac, and the band's lore was strong enough to inspire Taylor Jenkins Reid to write Daisy Jones & The Six.
Younger generations became acquainted with the band's history when Reid's novel was adapted into an Amazon Prime series starring Elvis Presley's granddaughter, Riley Keough. The Stevie Nicks-esque party girl had a connection with her bandmate, Billy Dunne, similar to Nicks's real-life romance with her bandmate, Lindsey Buckingham. Much of Fleetwood Mac's lore is connected to that romance,...

Last year, the Prime Video streaming service released the ten episode series Daisy Jones & The Six (watch it Here), based on the best-selling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid – a novel that was partially inspired by the complicated issues Fleetwood Mac band members Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, and Stevie Nicks dealt with behind the scenes. It isn’t directly the Fleetwood Mac story, but comparisons are unavoidable… and Steve Nicks soon let it be known that she loved the show and had watched its full run multiple times. She said, “It brought back memories that made me feel like a ghost watching my own story. It was very emotional for me,” and she joined many fans in hoping that there would be a second season. Since Daisy Jones & The Six covered the full story of Reid’s novel and was categorized as a limited series,...

Stevie Nicks has an idea for a second season of Daisy Jones & The Six.
In an in-depth interview with Rolling Stone published Thursday, the music icon reflected on the ending of the Prime series in which Sam Claflin’s Billy Dunne reunites with Riley Keough’s Daisy after encouragement from his wife to give his former bandmate a call after she passes away.
Though the series’ ending was left for the audience to debate on what truly happens and offered a feeling of possibility, Nicks ponders what could be if the show should ever have another season.
“I wish that it could go into what if … had Billy come back after Billy’s wife died and knocked on her door, and they decided to make that last record that I always hoped that Lindsey and I would make. That would make a fantastic second season,” Nicks said.

Two years ago, it was announced that Sam Claflin, who may be best known for playing Oswald Mosley on Peaky Blinders, Finnick Odair in the Hunger Games franchise, and Billy Dunne in Daisy Jones & the Six, had signed on to star in the supernatural thriller Bagman, from Hunger Games‘ home studio Lionsgate. The finished film received a theatrical release at the end of September, but it seems that few movie-goers noticed. Maybe Bagman will catch more attention now that horror fans will have the chance to watch it in their comfort of their own homes, as the film is set to receive a digital and VOD release this Friday, October 18th. It’s available for pre-order on Amazon, going for the price of $14.99.

In the series premiere of Disney+ and Marvel's latest project "Agatha All Along," Kathryn Hahn turns in a pitch-perfect performance as Detective Agnes O'Connor, with the entire episode mimicking the HBO hit "Mare of Easttown" before the "TV magic" is stripped away to reveal that Agnes is actually Agatha, a now-powerless witch. In the third episode, the show offers up its own take on another HBO favorite, "Big Little Lies." So, what popular series does the fourth episode, titled "If I Can't Reach You Let My Song Teach You," reference? The cast of Daisy Jones & The Six were set to take the stage once again according to series star Suki Waterhouse.
Waterhouse shared in a YouTube vlog on Thursday from the 2023 Lollapalooza festival that she along with the cast, which also included Sam Claflin, Riley Keough, Josh Whitehouse, Sebastian Chacon and Will Harrison, were supposed to perform at the Chicago-based music festival last summer.
“That whole thing was planned, we got people visas, like, it was an operation. And then the SAG strike happened, so we all decided that we should not perform at Lollapalooza,” the actress and singer recalled. Amid the strike, guidelines stated that the union’s affected members would be prohibited from all principal on-camera work — including acting, singing, dancing and stunts — on top of off-camera work, such as voice-acting and narration. All promotional activity such as interviews, award shows and podcasts were also not allowed by union members at the time.

How did “Daisy Jones and the Six,” the 10-part Amazon Prime Video Series, come together? Executive producer Lauren Neustadter, who serves as film and television president at Hello Sunshine – the production company in which she’s partnered with Reese Witherspoon – credits her husband Scott Neustadter for finding and wanting to adapt the Taylor Jenkins Reid novel in 2019. “He read the book and fell madly in love with it,” she recalls., “and he bet on our production company . I remember he received it on Friday of that Fourth of July weekend. By the time we had dinner, he’d finished it. I stayed up well into the night reading and I remember emailing Reese and saying, ‘I know you’re on vacation, but I need you to take your iPad to the beach. By the time I woke up, she was halfway through the book and we were like, ‘We have to do this.

Sam Claflin as Billy Dunne, Daisy Jones & the Six (Prime Video)
Claflin had no trouble slipping into the intense feelings of ’70s-era singer Billy Dunne. “Emotions were so on the edge for me at the time,” says Claflin. “Previously when I’d shot emotional scenes, I’ve needed a tear stick to help push me over the edge. But on Daisy, I didn’t need one ounce of help.”
For Claflin, it was partially his own divorce that still loomed over him, but also the fact that star-crossed love was not an unfamiliar concept. “I have experienced unrequited love, the chasing and the inability of making certain decisions in certain moments,” he says. “There were so many conversations between Billy and Camila (Camila Morrone), or Billy and Daisy (Riley Keough), that I have experienced firsthand or seen friends go through.”

When Daisy Jones & The Six premiered, a lot of viewers may have thought they'd seen the series' titular group play before. Well, they have seen (and heard) something very similar. That's because the band in Taylor Jenkins Reid's original novel was based on a real rock 'n' roll band, and a classic one at that. The trailer alone for the Emmy and Golden Globe nominated series shows off the tension between main characters Daisy Jones (Riley Keough) and Billy Dunne (Sam Claflin), a dynamic that mirrors that of Fleetwood Mac. The clothes, the attitude, and even the band logo are similar, right?...

Stevie Nicks is elaborating on why Prime Video hit Daisy Jones & The Six had her feeling “like a ghost watching my own story.”
In a new interview with Vulture, the Fleetwood Mac singer discussed how the show’s stars Riley Keough and Sam Claflin captured the essence of her creative relationship with fellow Fleetwood Mac member Lindsey Buckingham. The interview follows Nicks tweeting her response to the show, which was adapted from Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel, while watching the series back in August. Reid has previously said that she pulled from several ’70s bands for inspiration, including Fleetwood Mac.
While discussing the eerie similarities between her own life and what she was seeing onscreen, Nicks pointed to one specific element of Keough and Claflin’s dynamic as the biggest reason why she saw herself in their relationship.

For a writer whose specialty was his mad rush of words — careening, excessive, gloriously offensive and thoroughly “gonzo,” to use a word he may well have coined — Hunter S. Thompson has long been an irresistible image to put on screen. He was played by Johnny Depp in “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,” Bill Murray in “Where the Buffalo Roam” and a few others, and now it’s Willem Dafoe’s turn in Patricia Arquette’s directorial debut, “Gonzo Girl.”

When Kim Davis-Wagner and Justine Arteta signed on to cast the television adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s blockbuster rock ’n’ roll novel Daisy Jones & The Six, they knew they were up against the pressure of re-creating the magic of a beloved piece of IP — but they were also up against A Star Is Born. The Lady Gaga-starring musical drama hit theaters in 2018, and the industry was still captivated with the idea of seeing pop stars on the big screen. “The thinking was, there have to be other musicians [like Lady Gaga] who could be that good at acting,” says Arteta. “We knew that was possible, but really rare.”

A version of this story about Scott Neustadter and “Daisy Jones and the Six” first appeared in the Limited Series/Movies issue of TheWrap’s awards magazine.
Scott Neustadter wasn’t born when the rock ‘n’ roll scene depicted in “Daisy Jones & the Six” was taking place in Los Angeles in the late 1960s through the mid ’70s, and neither were most of the cast and creators of the limited series on Amazon’s Prime Video. But Neustadter and his writing partner Michael H. Weber, who’d written “500 Days of Summer,” “The Spectacular Now” and “The Disaster Artist” before they developed “Daisy Jones,” had to become experts in the era they recreated for the series based on Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel.
Did they get it all right? Of course not. (Read on for some nit-picking from somebody who is old enough to have been there.) But for the most part,...

This year’s first-round Primetime Emmy nominations ballot includes a total of 51 Best Limited Series hopefuls. This is down from 2022’s unusually high total of 61, yet still much higher than 2021’s 37, 2020’s 41, and 2019’s 35.
All 20,000 plus voting members of the TV academy have until June 26 to cast their 2023 Emmy Awards nominations ballots for programs. Unlike the Oscars, voters for the Emmys do not rank their choices and nominees are determined by a simple tally. After six years of not having to limit their choices in any categories, members’ selections can now not be greater than the number of eventual nominations for a given award, which, in this case, will be five.
Unlike comedy and drama series, which simply appear on the ballot by name, the limited series submissions include plot descriptions and cast lists. Which of the shows listed below do you think will land in the final lineup on...

Daisy Jones & The Six star Sam Claflin arrived at his final audition to play fictional 1970s rock star Billy Dunne without, by his own admission, the strongest grasp on the type of musician he was expected to embody.
His future showrunners had already taken a shine to the dimpled British actor, as had music supervisor Frankie Pine and producer Hello Sunshine’s president Lauren Neustadter, but one last hurdle remained before he could land the male lead in Amazon’s hot adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel of the same name. He had to sing live for the project’s music producers, Blake Mills and Tony Berg. Pine gave Claflin a shot of moonshine to soothe his nerves. The actor entered the storied halls of Sound City Studios, the Van Nuys building where Mick Fleetwood first met Lindsey Buckingham, and proceeded to kind of blow it. “I had prepared Elton John’s ‘Your Song,...

Hair department head MaryAnn Hennings first heard about the television adaptation of “Daisy Jones and the Six” while working on the film adaptation of “Where the Crawdads Sing,” two big projects produced by Hello Sunshine, the company founded by Reese Witherspoon.

It’s still unbelievable to think that Riley Keough didn’t have any real singing experience before starring in Amazon Prime Video’s “Daisy Jones & the Six.” Actually, most of the cast didn’t — which makes the tremendous sound of the band all the more impressive. “Daisy Jones & the Six” did what few other shows have done (perhaps “The Monkees” being the other most notable): turned a group of actors playing characters in a band… into an actual band.
But back to Keough for a second. Yeah, every story about her and “Daisy Jones” says the same thing: What? She hadn’t sang before? But she’s Rock Royalty. Some might argue it’s in the genes, but that’s just a fraction of it. Don’t sell Keough short. It was hard work and talent. And a lot more hard work. Keough and the “Daisy Jones & the Six...

Prime Video’s “Daisy Jones and the Six” ends with a look that says more than an entire monologue could express. After years of estrangement, former band members and creative soulmates Daisy Jones (Riley Keough) and Billy Dunne (Sam Claflin) reunite to fulfill one of the last wishes of Billy’s late wife, Camila (Camila Morrone). When Billy knocks on Daisy’s front door, he greets her with a smile; she, in response, has a look of reticence that slowly melts into a grin before the series smash cuts to the final credits.
Co-creator Scott Neustadter has compared the ending to “The Graduate.” “I hate happy endings,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “I’m really allergic to happy endings but I really love hopeful endings. There's no denying Daisy Jones and Billy Dunne were a match made in songwriting heaven. But past that, the central characters of "Daisy Jones & The Six" were always destined to clash to the point of ruin—and the proof is in the foreshadowing embedded in every line of the very first song Daisy and Billy (the enigmatic Riley Keough and Sam Claflin) collaborated on, "Honeycomb." The song is at once a look at a romance crumbling at the seams and an epitaph for a connection that, at the time of its writing and recording, had barely just begun.
"Honeycomb" was the first song the group worked on as a newly formed band called Daisy Jones & The Six, bringing together Daisy Jones the solo artist and The Six, a band of five formerly known as The Dunne Brothers. Billy brought his version of the song, one that he wrote long before...
