- Before he left for greener pastures, and before The Staccatos breakout hit, "Half Past Midnight" was released in 1966, and before the group signed a series of contracts with first Capitol Records, then MGM Records, and then with new label Lionel Records (of model train fame), and the group rose to international fame, fortune, and their nickname became the catchy name of their 1967 album "The Five Man Electrical Band," Dean Hagopian had been the group's lead singer for about two years (from 1963 to 1965) .
- The group was formed in Ottawa in 1963 and after twelve years and some bandmember defections, additions, and a two year American tour, the group disbanded in 1975.
- About one year after their 1967 album, "The Five Man Electrical Band" was released, in 1968, the group officially changed their name to (what had been their nickname) Five Man Electrical Band.
- After breaking up in 1975, the band regrouped (with some change of band members) in 1986, and have stayed together ever since (as of 2021).
