Woody Allen has largely been missing from the American entertainment scene for quite some time now. Majorly working in Europe, the director’s career in the US seems to have gone only downhill ever since the s*xual abuse allegations against him by his adopted daughter.

Yet the director is back now in American theatres with his latest romantic thriller, Coup de Chance. However, the director seems to have no plans to continue making movies, as he recently revealed in a new interview after making a shocking claim about the craft.

Luis Rubiales, the embattled former president of Spain’s soccer federation, has been banned from the sport for three years by FIFA, soccer’s world governing body, the Associated Press reports. The news comes after it was determined that he acted in breach of conduct during the World Cup final when he kissed a player allegedly without her consent after Spain’s win.
On Aug. 20 at the final in Sydney, Australia against England, Rubiales kissed forward Jennifer Hermoso on the lips as the Spanish national women’s team celebrated its historic first World Cup win.

Fall has officially arrived, and while the season is marked in Hollywood by a flurry of film festivals, it also marks the anniversary of the explosion of #MeToo across this industry. While the power brokers with skeletons in their closets hoped that this would be a passing fad, six years later this is our new normal. You never know where, or when, a shoe is going to drop — as it did in a big way this month for Russell Brand.
The extraordinary evolution of #MeToo is that not only is it surfacing harassment and assault, but it’s also challenging the power structures that have forever benefitted cis white men. It’s about bringing stories that have been diminished by those in power to light, as is the case with the buzzy new documentary “Copa 71” that I saw at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Luis Rubiales, the Spanish Football Federation president who’s been under enormous pressure to resign after spontaneously planting a non-consensual kiss on the lips of a women’s World Cup player during a medals ceremony, has finally stepped down — and the soccer leader did it during an interview with controversial BBC TV host Piers Morgan.
Rubiales grabbed Spain midfielder Jennifer Hermoso’s face and kissed her on the lips as the champions received their gold medals last month. Hermoso later indicated that the kiss was unwanted, and that she did not approve of it.
The besieged soccer president apologized, but for weeks defiantly said the gesture was done in a moment of “euphoria” and refused to resign his post. He called the dustup a “social assassination” and a “manhunt,” despite cries for his head from several top European sports governing bodies, players’ unions and prominent individuals over the past three weeks.

Coming hot on the heels of the 2023 Women’s World Cup - which saw 12 million viewers tune in to watch the final in the UK alone - this documentary about its little known predecessor 50 years ago was sure to attract attention. However, in the wake of the kissing scandal of Spanish football chief Luis Rubiales Rachel Ramsay and James Erskine’s film about the Mexican Women’s World Cup of 1971 takes on additional resonance.
Their film offers a traditional mix of talking heads, archive footage and academic observation but it’s packaged with care and served up with verve. US player and two-time World Cup champ Brandi Chastain will speak for most of us when, in the opening moments, she looks at footage from one of the packed Mexican stadiums in disbelief and says: “Why didn’t I know about this?” Leaving aside the fact that this isn’t quite the.

Madrid, Sept 1 (Ians) Spain coach Luis de la Fuente has handed a debut call-up to 16-year-old Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal for Spain’s forthcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers.
Spain play in Georgia on September 8, before facing Cyprus in Granada four days later on September 12 and Yamal looks certain to play some part in both games.
The youngster, who only turned 16 in July, is in line to become the youngest-ever player to play for Spain, while at the same time ruling out playing for another country, reports Xinhua.
Although Yamal was born in Spain, his father is Moroccan and his mother is from Equatorial Guinea, with Morocco reported to have been in contact with him over possibly representing his father’s homeland.
“He is different, and we haven’t looked at his age, we look at his ability and he is ready to play,” said De la Fuente.

Carlos Alcaraz was asked about the women's FIFA World Cup controversy, which is a big topic back home in Spain right now.
There is a big controversy brewing in Spain involving something that happened during the women's World Cup. Spain recently became world champions, and the ceremony saw the president of the Spanish Federation, Luis Rubiales, kiss one of the players.
The kiss wasn't consensual creating a huge controversy that has been the most talked about topic in Spain since it happened. There are strong demands for the president to step down from his function but he's let it be known that he won't do that.
Alcaraz, as a Spanish athlete was asked about it at the 2023 US Open and he shared his thoughts on the situation. The question came after his second-round win over Lloyd Harris , and the 20-year-old didn't want to comment a lot.

The mother of Spanish soccer president Luis Rubiales was taken to the hospital on Wednesday. Angeles Bejar was on the third day of her hunger strike in protest of FIFA’s decision to suspend her son for 90 days after he kissed player Jenni Hermoso at the World Cup final.
Bejar was admitted to Santa Ana Hospital in Motril, Spain. She was expected to hold a press conference before complaints of exhaustion and stress escalated into a medical emergency.
Bejar intended to protest her son’s suspension for “as long as [her] body holds out.”
“I don’t mind dying for justice because my son is a decent person and it’s not fair what they’re doing,” she wrote in a message on WhatsApp.
Following Spain’s first FIFA Women’s World Cup win on August 20, Rubiales grabbed Hermoso and kissed her on the lips. He was also caught on tape kissing several other players.

Madrid, Aug 27 (Ians) Sevilla’s disastrous start to the season continued on Saturday as the Europa League champions were stunned by Girona 2-1 at home.
Yangel Herrera put an impressive Girona side ahead in the 16th minute when he hammered home a loose ball after Sevilla failed to clear a corner, reports Xinhua.
Nemanja Gudelj leveled for Sevilla on the stroke of halftime as he controlled a clearance from a corner and volleyed home, but Aleix Garcia put Girona ahead 10 minutes into the second half with a good finish from a right cross.
Ivan Rakitic had the ball in the net for Sevilla shortly afterward, but his excellent shot was ruled out for a narrow offside. The home side was denied a penalty appeal in the last minute of normal time after the Var decided Rakitic’s free kick had hit David Lopez’s shoulder, rather than his arm.

Hermoso has said she did not consent to the kiss, which came during the team’s on-field celebration. The team’s players have said they will not play any more games as long as Rubiales is in charge.
FIFA said it removed Rubiales from soccer duties for 90 days “pending the disciplinary proceedings opened” against him Thursday.

Luis Rubiales, president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, admitted to making a “regrettable decision” following Spain’s decisive Women’s World Cup victory over England.
In his excitement and following Spain’s victory, Rubiales claimed to be caught up in the moment when he decided to give soccer star Jennifer Hermoso an unwanted kiss on the lips.
Facing widespread criticism following this unusual behavior, Rubiales initially appeared unhappy that he felt the need to defend himself, calling all those who condemned his actions in the heat of the moment “idiots.”

Madrid, April 19 (Ians) Spain’s referees have defended themselves from criticism of their performances this season with a strongly worded communique in which they have accused the Spanish football league (La Liga) of attempting to undermine their work.
Although they officiate in La Liga, referees in Spain are controlled by the Spanish Football Federation (Rfef) and relations between Rfef president Luis Rubiales and La Liga boss Javier Tebas are at an all-time low, with continued accusations between them, reports Xinhua.
This season has seen referees placed under greater scrutiny than ever, with criticism of many decisions and questions about reviews (or failure to review decisions) by the Var.
It was rumored that a meeting of referees in Madrid on Tuesday could even see Spain’s referees call a strike and bring the season to a halt; in the end, the referees limited themselves to a communique in which they criticized La Liga.
