Patrick Wilson is looking back at Watchmen and praising director Zack Snyder for being “ahead of the curve,” which he says ultimately led the way for films like The Avengers.
“Watchmen is the only movie of mine that I have watched front to back since a premiere — that movie is awesome,” Wilson said in an interview with ReelBlend.
Wilson joked that he wanted to share the film with his son “to fast forward through the scene with Malin Akerman in the ship.”
“I just wanted to look at it as an older guy, as a filmmaker. I knew Zack was ahead of the curve,” he added. “It’s weird to say that audiences weren’t ready for it. But you need a movie like that. You need movies to go so dark that then Avengers can go so light. I do believe in that.”

Stars: Peyton List, Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Brendan Meyer, Kelcey Mawema, Dylan Schombing, Miriam Smith, Jennifer Copping | Written by Damien Ober | Directed by Scooter Corkle
Two girls, Cotton (Kaitlyn Santa Juana) and Zooza (Peyton List), are trawling a garage sale when an old woman approaches them to tell them about the strange object on the table – it’s a “friendship game”, one that will tell you who your real friends are. So, of course, they buy the freakish object and get their friends Courtney (Kelcey Mawema) and Rob (Brendan Meyer) to play along. The object of the game? To place your finger on the object and reveal your deepest desires to the object and the group…

The Friendship Game is a Canadian horror movie directed by Scooter Corkle, starring Peyton List, Brendan Meyer and Jennifer Copping.
A teen and YA horror flick that could have been better. A promising premise, a disappointing production.
Premise
A group of friends come across a strange artifact that will put their friendship at risk. All the while, a hacker watches them with her spyware.
Movie Review
Do you know when a movie is not particularly well elaborated and the story is a bit disappointing? ‘The Friendship Game’ is one such example. Following a rather flat start, and despite it, you think to yourself, “oh, I will give it a chance.” Because the premise seems promising, and we expect it to tell us a story with multiple narratives, and think, “it might actually be worth the while.”
Unfortunately, that is not the case, but, hey, we did give it a chance.

"If your friendships don't survive the game, neither do you." Rlje Films has revealed an official trailer for The Friendship Game, a horror thriller from Canadian filmmaker Scooter Corkle. A group of teenagers in a small town discover a strange metal object that tests the resilience of their friendship. When one of the best friends goes missing after playing the game, our characters are forced to look inward, mostly through the eyes of our lead character Zooza as she wrestles with her fear of abandonment and resentment of her absent father. She must confront the monster within or no one will survive the game. Sounds freaky! This stars Peyton List, Brendan Meyer, Kelcey Mawema, Kaitlyn Santa Juana, and Dylan Schombing. I dig the cool Hellraiser-esque game object in this, but the rest of it looks like a super obvious and campy story about growing up and friends and trauma. Can't...

It looks like audiences have found their new favorite sci-fi fantasy series to watch on Sunday nights with Watchmen. The series created by Damon Lindelof and starring Regina King held strong in its second week out, garnering more than 1.3 million viewers Sunday night across all platforms.
Watchmen had some competition with Game 5 of the World Series and Sunday Night Football this past week but managed to retain most of its audience from last week’s premiere, with the 9 Pm airing drawing 765,000 viewers. The digital audience was within 4% of last week’s debut despite most new series declining in their second weeks.
Last week, the Watchmen premiere delivered 1.5 million viewers across all HBO platforms. HBO's Watchmen television series has a plot that seems fairly straightforward: law enforcement and masked vigilantes are fighting against a white supremacist group called the Seventh Cavalry. But there's a brief scene in the premiere in which sea creatures inexplicably fall from the sky that clues us into the fact that there are some other, crazier things happening. When Angela (Regina King) and Topher (Dylan Schombing) are driving home from school, sirens go off, and she stops the car so they can be splattered with small, gooey squid for about 10 seconds. She then calmly scrapes them off her windshield, and they resume driving.
Wait, what?
Truth be told, we don't know much about the squid thing yet. In the graphic novel upon which the show is based, Adrian Veidt wants to unite the world against a common enemy, so he plots to make everyone think the world is being...

Watchmen, Damon Lindelof’s anticipated series based on the award-winning Alan Moore graphic novel, debuted Sunday night to strong numbers, delivering 1.5 million viewers across all HBO platforms.

The first episode of HBO’s Watchmen series premiered last night and it was great! I loved what writer and creator Damon Lindelof has done with this show and the story that he’s set up, which is set years after the events of the graphic novel by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons.
This is just the beginning of what looks like will be an incredible show and we have a new trailer to share with you that shows us what we can expect in the upcoming episodes and it teases some twists and turns that will be coming. Obviously, if you haven’t watched the first episode yet, you probably don’t want to watch this until after you have.

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Watchmen” Episode 1, “It’s Summer, and We’re Running Out of Ice.]
Like a herd of cattle stampeding through a Tulsa ranch, the “Watchmen” premiere comes at you fast. Easily Damon Lindelof’s most tightly packed episode since “The Leftovers” Season 3 debut, “The Book of Kevin,” “It’s Summer, and We’re Running Out of Ice” builds a vivid new world on the foundation laid by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ graphic novel — and then it digs a new basement to boot. By opening with the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, Lindelof establishes a new (and true) starting point for his story, as well as a stark framing that sets the stage for the series’ central conflict: the white supremacists in the Seventh Kavalry and a police force led by a black detective, Angela Abar (Regina King).
In between, there are easter eggs galore for fans of the original comic book, more...

According to Watchmen series creator Damon Lindelof, the nine-episode show will be a self-contained story that will give viewers a complete resolution at the end. This series could only be one season, but that doesn’t mean it will be. We could get another Watchmen season, but Lindelof doesn’t know if it will happen.
While talking to Deadline, Lindelof explained:
“Does that mean that there isn’t going to be anymore Watchmen? Not necessarily. Does that mean that I will be working on subsequent seasons of Watchmen? I don’t know is the answer to that question. We designed these nine episodes to be as self-contained as the original 12 issues. We wanted to feel like there was a sense of completeness, to resolve the essential mystery at hand.”
I’ll wait and watch the series before I even decide if I want to see a second one. But, I am excited for the series!

We’ve got another new photo from HBO’s Watchmen sequel series to share with you that offers us another look at Jeremy Irons riding a horse. Irons is said to be taking on the role of Adrian Veidt a.k.a. Ozymandias in the series.
Showrunner Damon Lindelof also opened up about the group of white supremacists who will be a focal point of the series, and how race will be handled.
“We talked a lot about racism. We asked what’s the thing that’s causing a tremendous amount of anxiety in America today? The only authentic answer was race."
As for why the racist group in the series are wearing Rorschach masks, Lindelof explains he wanted to explore Rorschach’s alt-right views:
"I don’t wanna editorialise on whether or not Rorschach was a white supremacist. I don’t think he was, but he certainly had what...

War is brewing in the latest trailer for HBO’s Watchmen, so we’re going to get this out of the way early: We’re on whatever side Regina King’s Angela plays for.
If the reasoning put forth at the beginning of the clip is to be believed, Angela is driven by trauma, obsessed with justice and has experienced grievous injustice in her lifetime. But that doesn’t stop her from donning a mask and kicking down doors in the pursuit of good — even if that means, as she informs Don Johnson’s police chief Judd Crawford, getting a little rough.

HBO has finally released a proper full trailer for Damon Lindelof’s Watchmen series that actually gives us an idea of the story it is going to tell. This is our best look yet at the show, which is a continuation of the graphic novel by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, and it looks awesome!
The story set years after the events in the original story in an alternate history where masked vigilantes are treated as outlaws. It embraces the nostalgia of the original graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own.
This looks like a fantastically bold series that is going to tell a deep and complex story that is filled with interesting and unique characters. This is gong to be unlike any other comic book series that we’ve seen before, and I’m completely pumped up and ready to watch it!

When it comes to the comic book medium, there tend to be a handful of standout titles readers often regard as being akin to holy writ. More often than not, two of the most highly acclaimed contributions to the industry are swiftly referenced whenever a conversation such as this arises, and they’re both products of the 1980’s. These are, of course, Watchmen and Batman: The Dark Knight Returns.
When it comes to Watchmen specifically, that hadn’t been branched out until more recent years. Following the big screen adaptation in 2009, not much time went by before DC began putting out prequel miniseries under the banner of Before Watchmen. And more recently, they released a sequel of their own, Doomsday Clock, that integrates characters like Rorschach, Dr. Manhattan and Ozymandias into the DC Universe itself.

Comic book writer Alan Moore has never been happy with any of his work being adapted by Hollywood. He doesn’t like it that people mess around with his work! He wasn’t a fan of the Watchmen prequel comic series that DC published, he certainly wasn’t happy with Zack Snyder’s movie, and of course, he’s not happy about the upcoming HBO sequel series.
During the Television Critics Association, HBO's head of programming, Casey Bloys, was asked if Moore was still angry about the series and he responded, "I think that remains the case. That he’s not thrilled."
When the creator of the series and showrunner Damon Lindelof talked about Alan Moore, saying he has "made it very clear that he doesn’t want to have any association or affiliation with Watchmen." But, Lindelof still respects the writer and even called him "a genius”.

After dropping an Easter egg-rich new Watchmen trailer during the spotlight of Comic-Con, Damon Lindelof today tore right into the heart of the upcoming HBO series based on Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ classic late-1980s comic.
“What in 2019 is the equivalent of the nuclear standoff between the Americans and the Russians?” the sometimes-punchy Leftovers co-creator postulated during the Watchmen panel at TCA on Wednesday. “It is race and the police,” Lindelof said, answering his own question as star Regina King and Ep/director Nicole Kassell — both Leftovers alums — sat next to him on stage at the Beverly Hilton.
“There is no defeating white supremacy — it’s not going away,” Ep Lindelof explained of the hate groups that populate the nine-episode Watchmen. “There are no easy answers and grandiose solution,” he added, noting this was not going to play out like your standard superheroes saga on the small or big screen.

Alan Moore, whose popular graphic novel “Watchmen” will provide the basis for an HBO drama created by Damon Lindelof, is “not thrilled” about the new project, HBO programming president Casey Bloys said Wednesday.
That’s not a surprise: Moore has famously opposed attempts to adapt his work for the screen. Asked if Moore has changed his stance, Bloys said no.

It sure seems like another major “Watchmen” character from Alan Moore’s comic will be a big presence on Damon Lindelof’s upcoming adaptation for HBO.
The network dropped the first full-length trailer Saturday morning during San Diego Comic-Con, with the three-minute video (which you can view above) revealing that Dr. Manhattan is alive and well, still spending his time on Mars… that is until the end of the trailer, when a blue hand picks up a Dr. Manhattan mask in an empty street.
The series will debut in October.
Though HBO hasn’t shared any character details, it’s been reported that Jeremy Irons will play an older version of Adrian Veidt/Ozymandias, though the trailer showed a newspaper headline announcing his death. It also appears that Rorschach gained a cult following after his death, and Night Owl (or at least his Owlship) is still around as well.

Tick tock. Watchmen debuts this fall on HBO.
From Damon Lindelof, Watchmen is a modern-day re-imagining of Alan Moore's groundbreaking graphic novel about masked vigilantes. Zack Snyder was the last to bring it to vivid life on the big screen.

Don't look now, but Don Johnson is about to get popular again.
He's not going to be wearing pastels, but if HBO's Watchmen is as big as anticipated, he'll most definitely be enjoying a resurgence.
The DC Universe is spreading its wings outside of The CW and DC Universe's direct site to take Watchmen, based on Alan Moore's groundbreaking graphic novel about masked vigilantes, to HBO.
Game of Thrones Photos: Are More Dragons Coming?!
The trailer is incredibly unnerving in the way it reveals a life that was will be no more.
"We are no one, we are everyone, and we are invisible."
"They were hibernating when people thought they were gone."
"They came for everybody. All police."
"Are we safe?"
"I guess we have ourselves a reckoning."
The images that play out during the trailer offer big promises of a series that will have a lot to say.

HBO has released the first real teaser trailer for Damon Lindelof’s highly anticipated Watchmen series. As you’ll see, the trailer teases a count down to the end of the world.
This is our best look yet at the show and there are a lot of interesting aspects about it and cool visuals. I’m not entirely sure what is going on, but it looks like a revolution is building. The trailer definitely got me excited about what the series is going to deliver!
Watchmen is inspired by the graphic novel by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons and this series is a continuation of that story set years after the events in the original story. The series will be set in the same alternate history universe where superheroes are treated as outlaws, but the story will focus on a whole new present day setting and characters.
This series will expand on that universe,...

Tick tock. The new teaser trailer for “Watchmen,” our first significant look at the upcoming HBO drama based on the classic post-modern examination of superheroes, doesn’t promise much in the way of answers. But it does deliver some haunting visuals as well as a showcase for Regina King’s unnamed character, who appears to have some personal trauma haunting her enough to don a mask and badge.
Fans of the Alan Moore/Dave Gibbons graphic novel won’t find much in the way of familiar imagery here, which is in line with executive producer Damon Lindelof’s previous statements that the 1985 story of superheroes corrupted by their power will be used primarily as a jumping off point for the series.
“We have no desire to ‘adapt’ the twelve issues Mr. Moore and Mr. Gibbons created thirty years ago,” he wrote last year. “Those issues are sacred ground and they...
