Lots of celebs stepped out in their fashion forward looks for the premiere of Mission Impossible – The Final Reckoning at Palais des Festivals on Wednesday (May 14) in Cannes, France.

Cannes Juror Halle Berry, Heidi Klum with husband Tom Kaulitz, Eva Longoria, recent Oscar winner Zoe Saldana with husband Marco Perego, and Irina Shayk were just some of the names who stepped out to support the Tom Cruise-led film.

Some of Tom‘s former co-stars, like Jerry Maguire‘s Cuba Gooding Jr and The Mummy‘s Sofia Boutella were also seen at the event, as well as actress Andie MacDowell and fashion tastemaker Rahi Chadda.

Tom Cruise said goodbye to the “Mission: Impossible” franchise in electrifying fashion at the Cannes Film Festival, where “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” earned a five-minute ovation thanks in part to Cruise’s commitment to putting breathless and death-defying practical stunts on the big screen. The Cannes premiere was a massive event, with a 40-piece orchestra welcoming guests into the theater with the franchise’s iconic theme before the screening.

The audience lapped up the film’s special effects but the long run-time left some theatergoers bleary-eyed and exhausted. In the final stretch of the film, featuring death-defying acrobatics from Cruise, a handful of attendees got up and fled the Palais.

Though Cruise’s willingness to risk his life for “Mission: Impossible” has been covered relentlessly, what the Cannes audience did not expect was how much he was willing to bare all.

Three years after screening “Top Gun: Maverick” at the Cannes Film Festival, Tom Cruise has returned to the French Riviera to showcase his latest blockbuster stunt extravaganza, “Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning.”

Directed and co-written by frequent Cruise collaborator Christopher McQuarrie, the eighth and latest installment in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise is a direct sequel to 2023’s “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning.” That film introduced viewers to new characters like Hayley Atwell’s Grace, Esai Morales’ villainous Gabriel, Greg Tarzan Davis’ Degas, Pom Klementieff’s skilled assassin Paris and Shea Whigham’s Jasper Briggs. Paper Tiger, the new film from writer-director James Gray, has just revealed two major casting announcements. Per Deadline, Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow)and Miles Teller (Top Gun: Maverick)have been added to the movie’s lineup that already includes Adam Driver (Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens).

Johansson has been rumored to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, though she has personally denied these claims. Even so, her new co-stars have connections to Marvel. Teller is also known in part for playing Reed Richards in the Fantastic Four reboot released in 2015. Driver was also rumored to be up for the McU's Reed Richards in The Fantastic Four: First Steps before Pedro Pascal's casting.

Gray wrote and is directing the film, which will start production next month in New Jersey. Anne Hathaway and Jeremy Strong were previously cast in the roles, but exited the project due to other commitments. The casting reunites Johansson and Driver after 2019’s “Marriage Story,” for which they both earned Academy Award nominations.

Exclusive: James Gray is assembling another A-list cast for his next feature film, Paper Tiger, as sources tell Deadline that Scarlett Johansson and Miles Teller are set to co-star opposite Adam Driver in the upcoming pic.

Gray is writing and directing with production set to start next month in New Jersey. Johansson and Teller step in for Anne Hathaway and Jeremy Strong, who had to drop out due to other commitments.

The film will be produced by Rodrigo Teixeira under his Rt Features banner and frequent collaborator Anthony Katagas under Ak Productions alongside Raffaella Leone, Gary Farkas, Marco Perego, Carlo Salem, and Andrea Bucko. The 46-year-old Emilia Perez star walked the red carpet with her husband Marco Perego at the 2025 Academy Awards on Sunday (March 2) at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

The 46-year-old Emilia Perez actress was honored with the American Riviera Award during the 2025 Santa Barbara International Film Festival on Wednesday (February 12) at the Arlington Theatre in Santa Barbara, Calif.

This competent but somewhat predictable drama, which strobes between settings in Mexico and Texas, emerged two years ago under the title The Absence of Eden to very little fanfare or even much notice beyond the festival circuit.
