Evan Dane Taylor was born on October 10, 1986, in Yokosuka, Japan. He is the son of David, a Retired US Naval Intelligence officer, and Susan Reyes Taylor, a health insurance broker. His mother is first generation Filipino American. His father is of African American and Native American ancestry. After his father was stationed in Japan and in the Philippines, Evan was mostly raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He began martial arts at the age of 7 under his father's co-worker, Retired US Navy Seal Frank Cucci. Evan competed and taught martial arts through high school and into college. He received a Bachelor of Science from Old Dominion University in Biochemistry. After college Evan moved to New York City to pursue a career in film. He utilized his background in martial arts as a stunt performer, then to fight coordinator and assistant stunt coordinator on TV series The Punisher, Daredevil, Hit and Run, The Peripheral, and Law and Order: Organized Crime. He studied at the The Neighborhood Playhouse, The Upright Citizens Brigade, and The Barrow Group: NYC Theatre Company to expand his career from stunts to acting. Evan landed small stunt acting roles in The Enemy Within, Jessica Jones, and Daredevil. Evan will make his debut in the upcoming Lionsgate film Plane, playing Datu Junmar.
