Exclusive: LA management house 3Point0 Labs has acquired digital content agency Thirty Three Media.
Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed, but this marks a second recent investment for Marquel Martin’s 3Point0 Labs, following the launch of its talent and literary division earlier this month.
Thirty Three Media is social- and digital-first content agency that works with brands, entertainment figures and athletes such as Mma star Francis Ngannou. In that sense, it is a strong fit with 3Point0 Labs, whose founder Martin is the manager of UFC heavyweight champion and boxer Ngannou.
Further tying the two companies is the fact Thirty Three founder Randy Faehnrich is a producer, creator, and former head of social media at the UFC, where he oversaw huge growth at its social channels. Thirty Three counts Ngannou, who lost his recent heavyweight boxing clash with Anthony Joshua, on its books along with UFC stars...

Former Alamo Drafthouse and Regal exec joins event distributor that just added 1,000 theaters to its network
As movie theaters continue to recover from the pandemic, newly formed cinema event company Iconic Events has named former Alamo Drafthouse and Regal executive Steve Bunnell as its CEO on Wednesday.
The hire comes as Iconic has made deals with theater chains representing over 1,000 locations to add them to their network. Founded last year by former Cinemark CEO Tim Warner and former Village Roadshow co-chairman Michael Lambert, Iconic is looking to become a competitor in a space long dominated by Fathom Events, and which is becoming more popular with movie theaters trying to find as many revenue streams as possible to make up for a year’s worth of lost profit thanks to Covid-19.
Over the past three months, Iconic has grown from a dozen test locations to over 150 theaters with live event capability.

Update: Jorge Masvidal has signed to replace Gilbert Burns in a title match for the welterweight crown this Saturday at UFC 251 in Abu Dhabi against Kamaru Usman.
The need for Masvidal as a last-minute replacement came when Burns fell ill, reportedly with coronavirus. But signing is just phase one of the deal. Now Masvidal and Usman have to be tested for coronavirus. If they pass, they will be cleared to fly to Abu Dhabi.
Masvidal had previously been negotiating with the UFC to fight Usman, but terms couldn’t be reached. That’s when Burns was given a shot. Masvidal and Usman have a prior history of animosity, getting into a shouting match at the last Super Bowl’s media row.
Earlier: UFC 251 is reportedly cutting Gilbert Burns from its UFC 251, where he was scheduled to face welterweight champion Kamaru Usman on July 11 in a title fight.
