Liam Gallagher of Oasis and John Squire of The Stone Roses have revealed “Mars to Liverpool,” the latest song from their forthcoming collaborative album. Additionally, they’ve confirmed a release date for the self-titled LP, which is slated for March 1st, as well as announced an initial run of supporting tour dates.
The song follows Gallagher and Squire’s debut single together, “Just Another Rainbow.” Their upcoming album — which we named as one of the most anticipated albums of 2024 — was produced by Greg Kurstin and features Joey Waronker on drums.
The duo’s supporting tour, which launches in the UK beginning on March 13th, features a live lineup of Gallagher, Squire, and Waronker, as well as Barrie Cadogan on bass. Jake Bugg will appear as special guest on all shows except in Brooklyn. Tickets go on sale Friday, February 2nd.

The BBC is reportedly preparing to renew its crime drama Strike, which is based on the Cormoran Strike books by Jk Rowling.
The news comes weeks after the broadcaster apologised to the Harry Potter author after its news hosts failed to challenge a guest who called the author transphobic.
A sixth season of Strike has yet to be confirmed. However, Deadline’s Jake Kanter reports that the deal is close to being made.
The Independent has contacted the BBC for confirmation.
Season six will adapt The Ink Black Heart, the sixth novel in Rowling’s detective series, which she wrote under her pseudonym, Robert Galbraith.
The adaptation sees Tom Burke take on the role of gruff private investigator Cormoran Strike alongside Holliday Grainger as his partner Robin Ellacott.
Earlier this month, the BBC received 200 complaints after host Evan Davis allowed a guest on Radio 4’s Pm show to claim Rowling...

Jake Bugg admitted that he’s never seen an episode of Happy Valley, despite singing the show’s theme tune.
From the hit BBC show’s debut in 2014 to its finale in February, its opening and closing music has been soundtracked by Bugg’s single, “Trouble Town”.
In a recent interview, the singer admitted that although his song is considered a key part of the Sarah Lancashire-led drama, he is unfamiliar with it.
On Friday’s (3 March) edition of Hometime with Bush & Richie on Absolute Radio, Bugg was asked about the process of an artist allowing their music to be used as part of a TV programme and separated from a wider musical release.
“You want it to be a thing that reflects well on the music and it has to kind of have some connection,” Bugg noted.
“People tell me that it works and it’s hard, I think [as a] writer,...

Chicago – These are strange and isolating times for everyone. As someone who thrives on covering concerts, during the pandemic I sometimes feel like a part of me is missing. Luckily, one recent quarantine phenomenon that has helped me and other live music addicts fill the void is the surge of live online performances.

It’s March 2019 and actor Otto Farrant is sitting in his car listening to heavy metal at top volume. Over the din, he’s screaming out the words to Jake Bugg’s ‘Seen it All’ (‘I’ve seen it all/I’ve seen it all now/I swear to god I’ve seen it all/ Nothing shocks me anymore.’) He changes songs, trying another, then another, and another. For an hour. For two hours. It leaves him and his voice totally drained.

Happy New Year! It's been a tumultuous year for me and for many of us of a certain age. I lost a brother. The world lost a slew of pop culture -- Carrie Fisher, Alan Richman, Craig Sager, John Glenn -- and music icons -- Bowie, Prince, Leonard Cohen, George Michael, et al. One comfort for me was music and my rediscovery of vinyl. The warm, comforting sound of analog became my daily meditative fix. Quite literarily. Seeking out vinyl "nuggets" became a quest to help me deal with my own pain and depression. Chasing down albums that I owned thirty years, abadonded at the advent of those shiny new things called compact discs. Restorative analog power reigned o'er me. One of my chief caveats: I would not purchase anything on vinyl that I already owned on compact disc. Well, that rule didn't last long as I found comfort in...

Syd Arthur - On an On (Harvest)
If one makes the pronouncement that their band "hails from Canterbury, England," one might assume that progressive rock might ensue. And while their Wikipedia page lists them as a "psychedelic jazz band, formed in Canterbury in 2003 by brothers frontman Liam and bassist Joel Magill, drummer Fred Rother and violinist Raven Bush," they sound more like a prog-pop band to my ears, albeit one of the best I've heard in ages. I happened to finally catch them in concert last week opening for the most-excellent UK-based singer-songwriter Jake Bugg at Terminal 5 in NYC. Strange pairing, but having missed them last year at the Mercury Lounge, I simply had to go. I admit that their name alone -- Syd Arthur, named after The Madcap Pink Floyd founder Syd Barrett and Love leader Arthur Lee, who may or may not be construed as a prog rocker...

What a year in rock music! There, I said it. Too much to take in. Like a rowboat taking in more water than I can bail out. I keep getting new music recommended to me by friends, publicists, old lovers, dudes on subways, songs blasting in hipster boutiques; freakin' new music was everywhere. I got tipped to U.K. acts such as punk rockers Sleaford Mods, poetry rapper Kate Tempest, and folkster Jake Bugg; there was a new pop rock opus by Dan Wilson, and soulful Brooklynite Selena Garcia, and much more. I could barely compile my "best of/favorites of 2014" list knowing that I'll probably discover even more music after I've completed it. But here goes...my ten favorite tracks from 2014, a few essential reissues, and my ten favorite albums, yes, albums, like on real heavy duty vinyl, with two sides and everything.

“Harry Potter,” “Twilight” and “The Hunger Games.” These franchises make up the Mount Rushmore of Ya adaptations and studios are falling over themselves to pick up the rights to any Ya novel they can get their hands on. It’s therefore surprising that it’s taken this long for Lois Lowry’s “The Giver” to finally get the big screen treatment, so The Weinstein Company is making up time by putting the marketing machine into overdrive ahead of the film adaptation’s release next month. The “Harry Potter” series notwithstanding, every Ya franchise worth its salt has a curated soundtrack meant to whip the kids into an iTunes buying frenzy, and “The Giver” is no different. Set for release on August 5th, the soundtrack, The Giver: Music Collection, will span 10 songs with offerings from Capital Cities, Jake Bugg, Aloe Blacc and OneRepublic, which is the band behind the soundtrack’s first single.

"So I raised it with [Chase & Status] and said, 'I've got the feeling that you guys have this interesting relationship' and they told the most amazing story.
"The extremity of that story is just crazy. It was made out of pure love and admiration but it's a good example of a high intensity disagreeing moment."
Lowe also explained that he finds it difficult bringing...

Zane Lowe has promised "compelling" interviews with artists on his upcoming MTV series Soundchain.
Ed Sheeran, Nas and Biffy Clyro are among the musicians who will feature on Lowe's new show, which sees him speak to a different act each week about their career and background.
"We keep it really simple, and try not to reinvent anything," he said at a Q&A in London today (June 25). "If you get the right subject matter then it can be a compelling watch. It's about concentrating on their journey."
The BBC Radio 1 DJ said that the show is unique as it provides a historical document about different artists in 2014.
He explained: "What's really cool is that all these artists, a lot of them are really new. It's quite rare to speak to someone like Ed Sheeran and go, 'Let's go back', because he's too busy looking forward.

We’re kidding about the last part, you should definitely still hit up your local record store, if you’re lucky enough to still have one, and pick up some other favorites, but you won’t have to fight folks for Jake Bugg’s latest. Los Angeles - Jim Carrey's status report on "Dumber and Dumber To": "We just finished up." Speaking to a small group of reporters on the red carpet at a David Lynch Foundation event in the Beverly Wilshire, the actor and comedian had nothing but kind words to say about the "Dumb and Dumber" sequel, set for a November 14 release this year. "It's just really fantastic getting together with the old group again," Carrey said, referring to "Dumb and Dumber" writers/directors Bobby and Peter Farrelly and co-lead Jeff Daniels. "I just saw an assemblage of the new movie… it's just so fun, it's almost a dissociative experience now. Harry and Lloyd are kind of their own people, like they actually exist. And they're not me, that's for sure." He said climbing back into his character Lloyd Christmas' shoes was no sweat across from Daniels' Harry Dunne, like "no time had passed at all.

At one point, judge Keith Urban, introduced a guy named ,Jake Bugg, on to sing a song. After all that, we finally got down to Ryan, revealing that the mega cute hottie, Kristen O'Connor, also landed in the bottom 3 to join Mk and Malaya. From there, Ryan revealed that Mk was safe,...

While "American Idol" Season 13 Rush Week was pretty brutal, the atmosphere during the show's Top 13 elimination show was still tense. Malaya Watson, Mk Nobilette and Kristen O'Connor were the first three singers sent to the bottom. Which one went home?
In the end, Kristen was sent packing. There is a save, which expires at Top 6 week, but clearly the judges weren't going to use it the very first week -- and they didn't. Here's how it went down:
The first group brought onstage to hear results was Malaya, Jena, Alex and Ben. While Ben, Alex and Jena were sent to safety, Malaya was sent to the first stool of doom. (That wasn't too shocking since her rendition of Bruno Mars' "Runaway Baby" was all over the place -- in a bad way.)
The second group included Mk, Sam, Majesty and Dexter. Ryan Seacrest sent Dexter, Majesty and Sam to safety,...

You know, I was a big Candice Glover fan last year. I was rooting for her almost from the beginning and I was pleased when she won. But when Ryan Seacrest mentioned during Wednesday's show that Candice Glover would be performing tonight, it took me way longer than it should have to remember who Candice Glover was. "American Idol" would also like you to forget that Nikki Minaj and Mariah Carey were ever judges. Things were pretty tight after Wednesday's performances. I think Malaya Watson made the biggest mess of her song, but I don't think she's going home. I'm assuming that Ben Briley, one of my four favorites last night, is safe, so he's the guy in my picture. Everything else is up in the air, so click through for my full live-blog! 8:01 p.m. Et This is new! The "Idol" Group Lip-Synch is being done as a walk-and-sing through the "Idol" backstage.

In case you missed yesterday's Brit Awards (which is likely, as it was only live-streamed in the U.S.), there were several performances of note. There were also plenty of artists you've probably never heard of (John Newman, Chloe Howl, Ella Eyre, Tom Odell, Jake Bugg, Rudimental — look them up!), and so many moments that will make you realize that, yes, England does have slightly better music taste than us. If you missed any of it, we can tell you that (1) Beyoncé was there; and (2) Brits also adore Pharrell. Here were the best moments.I won't bury the lede: Here's Beyoncé's performance of "Xo," her newest single (once "Drunk in Love" ends its radio reign.) She swayed to the downbeat track in a shiny dress. Start praying now that this song eventually gets some signature choreography.
