Exclusive: Zero Gravity Management has signed Arthur de Larroche, the writer, director and producer behind acclaimed indies Remy & Arletta and Clairevoyant. Reps for the filmmaker there will include Cameron Cubbison and Elissa Friedman.
“I’ve waited a long time to find the right team. People who support my drive and passion for film,” said De Larroche in a statement to Deadline. “Cameron and Elissa are those people and I’m lucky to add them to my team.”
Most recently, De Larroche helmed Remy & Arletta, a coming-of-age drama based on the same-name bestseller by Micaela Wittman, which hit theaters in limited release this fall and will debut on streaming in the spring. Written by and starring Wittman, the film centers on her character Remy, who latches onto her best friend Arletta (Riley Quinn Scott) as a coping mechanism to deal with her alcoholic and abusive mother (Amy Benedict).

Exclusive: The coming-of-age drama Remy & Arletta written by and starring Micaela Wittman (Shirley), which we were first to report on, has been acquired by indie distributor Synergetic for North America. Also starring relative newcomer Riley Quinn Scott (Apple’s Truth Be Told), the film will get a limited release in the U.S. starting October 13 before hitting VOD.

Exclusive: Riverside Entertainment is expanding into scripted content with the coming-of-age LGBTQ+ drama Remy & Arletta, written by and starring Micaela Wittman (Clairevoyant), and the nihilistic thriller Manodrome, starring Academy Award nominee Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network) and Academy Award winner Adrien Brody (The Pianist).
The Los Angeles and Nashville-based production company, known for its unscripted success with the SXSW music doc Bluebird and the Magnolia Network series Making Modern with Brooke and Brice, came aboard both projects after production wrapped to assist with finishing funds and creative in post, also signing Wittman and her fellow multi-hyphenate Arthur De Larroche (Clairevoyant) to a first-look deal. Brian Loschiavo, Jeff Molyneaux and Pastor Alvarado will exec produce both Remy & Arletta and Manodrome on behalf of Riverside, which they lead as partners.

Kino Lorber has acquired distributor Artsploitation Films from its owner and president Ray Murray. Murray and his team will remain with the business as a Kino Lorber brand and division. The deal for Artsploitation, which releases international genre and cutting-edge specialty films, adds 100 titles to Kino Lorber’s library that now has more than 4,000.
Kino Lorber said its new Artsploitation division will acquire rights to 6-8 future theatrical titles per year to bring to market under the banner “Artsploitation, A Kino Lorber Company,” as well as direct to digital and home entertainment releases. It will take over exclusive distribution of all previous Artsploitation titles for all digital media, home video, educational and repertory theatrical markets.
Previously, Kino Lorber handled ancillary media distribution for Artsploitation as a third-party label, as it continues to do for the likes of Zeitgeist Films, Cohen Media Group, Greenwich Entertainment, Palisades Tartan, Virgil Films, Menemsha, Raro Video and others.
