William Shatner has not lost his sense of adventure, wonder, or humor. But he has a serious message. The actor who originated the role of Captain Kirk on Star Trek may not have gone where no man has gone before, but he has touched the sky. His view from Blue Origin’s Ns-18 suborbital flight that launched and landed Oct. 13 opened his eyes to a world he thought he knew, but he now worries about its fragility.

William Shatner has reached the final frontier.
At 90 years old, the “Star Trek” actor entered space aboard Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin space shuttle on Wednesday morning, becoming the oldest person in history to boldly go where no man has gone before.
Also on board the second Blue Origin flight were Chris Boshuizen, a former NASA engineer and co-founder of Planet Labs; Glen de Vries, the co-founder of Medidata; and Audrey Power, Blue Origin’s vice president of mission and flight operations. The shuttle lifted off from Launch Site One in Texas, taking its passengers 62 miles above Earth’s surface and past the Kármán line, the boundary between Earth’s atmosphere and outer space. Shatner and the crew will experience around four minutes of weightlessness on board the shuttle.
The flight was originally set to take off on Tuesday, but it was delayed a few days ago due to bad weather and heavy winds.

Jeff Bezos’ spaceflight company Blue Origin announced it was delaying an upcoming flight that was meant to carry “Star Trek” actor William Shatner aboard. The delay was made due to anticipated winds. The flight was originally scheduled for Oct. 12.
“Due to forecasted winds on Tuesday, Oct. 12, Blue Origin’s mission operations team has made the decision to delay the launch of Ns-18 and is now targeting Wednesday, Oct. 13,” a Blue Origin spokeswoman said in a statement. The new flight is target to lift off from Blue Origin’s Launch Site One in Texas on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m Cst.
Shatner, famously known for playing Captain James T. Kirk in the 1960s TV series “Star Trek,” is set to become the first member of the show’s cast to make the journey to space. Perhaps more notably, Shatner, at the age of 90 years old, will also be the oldest person to ever go to space.
