Krista Erickson
Krista Erickson is a Gemini nominated journalist who started her career
in 1999 in her hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada as a researcher
with a focus on investigative journalism. In the fall of 2003, she
hosted CBC News: Canada Now and rose through the ranks of CBC Manitoba
first as an associate producer as well as local reporter. She took over
hosting duties for CBC Manitoba's supperhour newscast CBC News at Six
in 2004. Erickson carried out investigative research for network
programs such as "It's a Living" and "CBC News: Disclosure", "Country
Canada" and the CBC's local investigative unit: The ITEAM. Erickson was
nominated by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television for a Gemini
Award in the category of Best Lifestyle/Practical information segment
for a reality TV style documentary she hosted and co-produced for
"Marketplace" called, "Love and Little White Lies." Her studies include
Arts and Sciences at the University of Winnipeg (1996) and Red River's
Creative Communications program (1997-1999). Kristen has an interest in
languages and has studied both Spanish and French. She has also studied
music extensively, playing several different instruments including the
piano for which she attained a grade eight level with the Royal
Conservatory of Music. A frequent contributor to CBC network programs,
Marketplace and The National, Krista joined CBC's parliamentary bureau
as a network correspondent in 2006. She specialized in public safety,
national security issues and consumer affairs. She left the Canadian
Broadcasting Corporation after eleven years for Sun News Network in
2010. She spends her time cooking, working out and taking care of her
dog, a Jack Russell terrier named Winston (after the great British
Prime Minister).
