Born in Shimla, India, Karan is a Montréal, Québec, Canada based writer, screenwriter and filmmaker. He started his career with a docu-fiction Faceless (2012) which explored white supremacy and racism in the visible LGBTQI+ communities of North America, and showcased at various international festivals. His other credits include Pieces of Me (2016), At Home in the World (2013) and Mum Singh (2022) which have screened at film festivals around the world. His short fiction project Pass the Salt, Please, was part of the prestigious Cours écrire ton court sponsored by SODEC, Québec and a feature film project Zoya iman Ayaz, received screenwriting mentorship from the Canadian Film Centre. An alumni of the Banff Creative Arts Writing Program, Karan's work focusses on South-Asian and Queer representation in cinema.
