Adaptations of Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes have been a television staple for years, and the series Elementary was no exception. Running for seven seasons on CBS from 2012 to 2019, Elementarystarred Lucy Liu as Dr. Joan Watson to Jonny Lee Miller’s Sherlock Holmes. Six years after the series ended its run, CBS now has a new Holmes-esque series, Watson, and Liu is talking about whether Elementary could be rebooted.

In a recent interview with ScreenRant, during which Liu was promoting her new action-comedy Old Guy, the Emmy-nominated actress addressed a possible Elementaryrevival. “I don’t think about it, because it feels like we really had closure on it,” Liu told the outlet.

The CBS detective drama welcomes Younger star Debi Mazar on Sunday’s episode titled “It Serves You Right to Suffer,” and only Et has the exclusive sneak peek at the Aidan Qiunn-directed installment.

Sherlock deduces that the murder is quite unusual, though unforeseen (and rather conspicuously timed) incidents are threatening to muck up the standard timeline for the investigation.

When Elementary returns for its third season on Thursday (10/9c, CBS), Joan Watson (Lucy Liu) will give Sherlock Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) a rather chilly reception when he returns to New York. A handsome man boards the subway, choosing a seat next to a beautiful woman. They make eye contact, then look away. He says “good day” to her (in Russian), she responds in kind—and then the onslaught begins:

Woman: “How did you know I was Russian?”

Man: “Korovka. Russian chocolate. You have a smudge.”

[Woman wipes her face. There's a pause.]

Man: “Good luck at the performance tonight.”

[She looks at him quizzically.]

Man: “Sorry. I noticed the indentations on your fingers. At first I thought violin, but the spacings are a bit too wide, and there’s no markings under your chin. So, cello.”

According to a recent report from TV Line, the Elementary season 3 peeps have just hired actor, Raza Jaffrey (left), to come on and portray Joan Watson's new man, named Andrew. Andrew is described as being "the anti-Sherlock, an oasis of normalcy in a life that is still rife with strangeness and drama. Sherlock, who is trying to get in Joan’s good graces after almost a year away in London, will tread lightly around Andrew in the beginning. But he can only ever mind his manners for so long." Raza Jaffrey's acting credits include roles in "Smash," Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, BBC spy drama Spooks (aka Mi-5). He’ll next be seen playing a lieutenant-colonel in Pakistan’s intelligence service in the new Homeland season 4. Elementary season 3 is currently due to debut on Thursday night, October 30th at 9pm central time on CBS.

On top of the casting news that Spooks and Smash's Raza Jaffrey is joining Elementary season three in a recurring role is the tidbit that the third run will take place almost a year after the previous season finale.

As reported in TVLine, Jaffrey is to play Andrew, a boyfriend of Joan Watson's and "the anti-Sherlock, an oasis of normalcy in a life that is still rife with strangeness and drama". Will he eventually become Joan's Mary Morstan, the wife who remains behind the scenes for the majority of Sherlock and Watson's adventures in the original stories, and whose character received a drastic rewrite in the recent BBC series in which she's played by Amanda Abbington?

Now, thanks to TV Line, we have a face to go with the character as actress ,Ophelia Lovibond (left), is all set to play her. It's also reported that Kitty will rival Joan Watson played by Lucy Liu. Kitty’s reasons for partnering with Sherlock, are nebulous and her new arrangement with him will have continuous repercussions for his relationship with Joan. After a solid episode last week that gave Joan Watson some of her most interesting material this season, Elementary returns with a more Sherlock-centric episode that, barring his interactions with his brother and nemesis, stands out as one of this year’s highlights for the character. Viewers will be forgiven for not remembering Sherlock’s friend, Allistair (Roger Rees), from the sixth episode of the first season. It’s an unusual decision to bring a character like that back in this capacity, but it shows some strong series memory and gives Sherlock plenty to think about in the episode.

Learning that Allistair has died initially seems to not affect Sherlock that much (not that we would know anyway, since Sherlock doesn’t talk much about...

If there’s any justice in this world, ‘Jonny Lee Miller Sings The Songs of Frozen (Whilst Wearing A Massive Prom Dress)’ will be an extra on the Elementary season two DVD. There can be little more cheering than the thought of Miller’s twitching, upright Sherlock Holmes belting out a heart-felt cover of Let It Go in pink chiffon. That mental image is TV Prozac.

As was much of this week’s episode, give or take a few grisly murders.
