This article contains spoilers for "What If...?" season 2.
"What If...?" season 2 only just premiered on Disney+ and brought with it another round of fascinating adventures through the multiverse. The Marvel Cinematic Universe could have turned out any number of ways -- had certain characters made different choices along the way. This new season kicks off with a Nebula-focused episode titled "What If... Nebula Joined the Nova Corps?" As the title implies, it sees the adopted daughter of Thanos taking something of a hero's turn as a member of the Nova Corps. But that gritty hero's journey almost wandered down a dark path.
Showrunner A.C. Bradley recently sat down with IGN to break down the show's second season. In discussing the season premiere, which was written by Matthew Chauncey, Bradley explained that the whole thing came about simply because the show's creatives love Karen Gillan's work as Nebula (and...

This article contains spoilers for season 2 of Marvel’s What If…?
Season 2 of Marvel’s What If…? is full of great episodes, from Nebula’s film noir mystery on Xandar to Hela’s well-earned redemption arc. But there’s one episode that stands above the rest and introduces a new powerful hero into the MCU.
What If…Kahhori Reshaped the World? tells the story of Kahhori (Devery Jacobs) and her tribe, who live in a world where the Tesseract crash-landed on Earth in the Haudenosaunee Confederacy. The Tesseract resides in a lake, which transports those who enter its waters to another realm full of harmony and unimaginable power. Kahhori is transported there while running from the Spanish colonizers who seek to take her homeland. Kahhori convinces the now-immortal members of this realm to travel back home with her to stop the invasion and protect their people.

In the latest season of ‘What If…?’ fans were in for a surprise as Vin Diesel did not return to voice Groot. The premiere episode showcased a scenario where Nebula, now with the Nova Corps, teams up with unlikely allies like Howard the Duck, Miek Korg, and Groot to save Xandar from Ronan’s clutches and Nova Prime’s dark plans.
While Groot played a smaller role in the episode, it was evident that a different voice actor, Fred Tatisciore, took on the role, marking the first time someone other than Vin Diesel voiced the beloved character. Diesel has been the consistent voice of Groot in all previous Marvel Cinematic Universe projects, earning a substantial paycheck of around 55 million dollars for his contributions.
The reasons behind Diesel’s absence from voicing Groot in ‘What If…?’ remain unclear. However, it’s worth noting that not all live-action actors reprised their roles...

‘What if…?’ Season 2 already premiered the first three episodes. The first one dealt with the scenario in which Nebula, after defecting from the Black Order, joins the Nova Corps and saves Xandar from Ronan’s occupation and Nova Prime’s sinister plans.
She has gotten quite a big help from Howard the Duck, Miek, Korg, and our favorite Guardian of the Galaxy, Groot. Groot appeared in the first episode in a couple of scenes, and despite not having a major role, the end credits revealed that Groot was, for the first time in forever, voiced by a different voice actor as Voice actor Fred Tatisciore took over for Vin Diesel.
Diesel returned to voice absolutely all projects that featured Groot, both the adult and baby versions. Vin Diesel has earned around 55 million dollars for voicing Groot in four Marvel Cinematic Universe projects. This means Vin Diesel earned almost 14 million dollars per movie,...

By the looks of the first episode, MCU’s anthology of alternative narratives doesn’t come back empty-handed right around Christmas. The episode is of wish fulfillment in strange, tumultuous ways, as this version of Nebula’s path replaces absolute loss with the warmth of something she’s secretly craved all her life. The only thing that would make the deal even sweeter is if the classic crime thriller vibes of Nebula’s time in Xandar continued through the rest of the season.

Why Is Nebula In Xandar?
Nebula and loneliness have always been sort of synonymous. But the Nebula that the Watcher gets us acquainted with is now truly alone—lost in the vast cold of space in its literal sense. Ronan, the accuser, has taken her problematic family away from her. And, in the absence of her sister and her Infinity Stones-obsessed father, Nebula has a...

Marvel Studios has more than 20 projects in the works, focusing on both big and lesser-known characters from the comics, and in the last few days, rumors have been going around that the execs are looking into more characters to expand the Disney+ selection of the shows.
And even though the historic SAG-AFTRA strike affected productions across the board, and some previously announced and rumored projects are stuck in limbo, we occasionally get a piece of news or rumors confirming that they are still happening. In the last seven or so years, one project involving Nova was heavily rumored. It made sense to introduce him earlier due to the Guardians of the Galaxy connection to Xandar and the heavy involvement of Nova Corps with issues surrounding Ronan and Thanos.
Now, at first, the project featuring Nova was supposed to be a movie until it was rumored that it’s going to...

"Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" scribe Jeff Loveness may have brought his experience in creating whacky science-fiction tales due to his time as a writer on "Rick and Morty," but his intimate knowledge of Marvel Comics stems directly from the superhero books he worked on. Loveness has written for both Marvel and DC, as well as for the independent publisher Boom! Studios, covering "Shazam!," "Spider-Man," and "Nova." The latter is near and dear to Loveness' heart, so it's no surprise that the writer has a few ideas about how the character can translate to the screen.

Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, running down a list of Marvel characters in consideration for live-action, confirmed Marvel Comics' cosmic superhero "Nova", has "immediate potential" and will be showcased as a "Marvel Studios Special Presentation", for streaming on Disney+, similar to the production of Michael Giacchino's "Werewolf By Night" and "The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special":
"...when the last surviving member of the elite 'Nova Corps', 'Rhomann Dey', is dying, he selects New York high school student 'Richard Rider' to replace him. Rider is given the uniform and powers of a 'Nova Centurion' but little instruction on how to use them. Calling himself 'Nova', Rider becomes a superhero, fighting 'Condor', 'Powerhouse', 'Diamondhead', the 'Corruptor' and the 'Sphinx'.
"Rider discovers Dey's space ship orbiting Earth and uses it to journey to 'Xandar' with 'Doctor Sun', 'Powerhouse', 'Comet' and 'Crimebuster', where they join Xandar's war against the 'Skrulls'.

Marvel has just concluded their 8th show on Disney+, rounding out the Phase 4 experiment in a definitive way. While fans await the next stage of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s plans for the streaming service, it’s a great time to reflect on the tropes and trends that are beginning to emerge as Kevin Feige’s studio grapples with a slightly different medium.
The need for a big bad has driven every series in the superhero genre. It’s rare to see a show from Marvel or indeed DC that doesn’t settle on a major antagonist to steer the narrative, rather than consistently sticking to a villain of the week formula with shorter arcs. However, while Marvel Studios has maintained that formula for their Disney+ shows, it’s also become commonplace to see the foe actually revealed in the conclusive episodes. It seems that...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe featured a long build-up to Thanos before the Mad Titan finally took center stage in "Avengers: Infinity War." The villain made a cameo at the end of 2012's "The Avengers," played by stand-in Damion Poitier. But it took two more years for the villain to make a proper debut in "Guardians of the Galaxy," played by Josh Brolin, who would also portray the villain in "Infinity War" and its sequel, "Avengers: Endgame."
Thanos only appears in two scenes in "Guardians of the Galaxy," but he's the one who sets the story in motion: He wants the movie's MacGuffin, an orb containing the Power Stone. So he sends his daughters Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Nebula (Karen Gillan), along with hired help Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace), to get it. The quest for the orb winds up bringing the Guardians together.
