Manish Dayal is the first actor of The Resident to step behind the camera for an episode, February 22’s “Hell in a Handbasket.” For the star, who previously directed the short film Fifteen Years Later, “it was a bit of happenstance” that it turned out to be this episode, he tells TV Insider. “The schedule lent itself for me and my character to sort of step aside a little bit for a couple of episodes in order for me to direct this. I read the script and it was terrific. It’s an ambitious episode with the opening stunt that kind of takes you into sort of three or four different storylines all happening at one time.” Tom Griscom/Fox And those storylines have three women — Dr. Billie Sutton (Jessica Lucas), Dr. Kit Voss (Jane Leeves), and Nurse Jessica Moore (Jessica Miesel) — at the center of them. “These powerful women...

The Resident is doing a great job at offering that perfect balance of personal arcs and development and fascinating or informative medical cases.
It's all one can ask for in a medical drama, and The Resident Season 5 Episode 13 has us thoroughly invested in Billie's face-off with the despicable Porter, rooting for Leela and Bell, and wrapped up in the medical cases.
A little Gigi sprinkled in is the cherry on top.
It's a mark of how well this series manages its cast and the respective storylines that even when characters are missing, it doesn't feel as if the installment is lacking.
Conrad is often the glue that keeps everything together, but it doesn't necessarily require him to be front and center with his respective arc.
He held much of this hour together with a fascinating case with an influencer, but it was Billie, Leela, and Jessica who had personal arcs...

"I have so many things I want to tell you..." Screen Media Films has unveiled an official trailer for a comedy called Family Squares, which is a fun name riffing on the classic "Hollywood Squares" TV game show. It's also a reference to this being a Zoom collective film, featuring segments shot remotely by each of the actors. It's a story inspired by director Stephanie Laing's own mother's passing in 2019, eventually made during the pandemic. The film is about a family matriarch, Grandma Mabel, who passes away suddenly but in her last days tries to bring her dysfunctional family together. Digitally. The ensemble cast includes June Squibb, with Ann Dowd, Judy Greer, Billy Magnussen, Casey Wilson, Henry Winkler, Sam Richardson, Margo Martindale, Timothy Simons, Zoe Chao, Scott MacArthur, Elsie Fisher, Jessica Miesel, and Maclaren Laing. Narration by Rob Reiner. Of course it's rated R only for the language. It doesn't look so bad,...

Our favorite nurse, Jessica, is in the clear. Well, one of our favorite nurses, of course. Sorry about that Nic.
The good news is, as far as Jessica's survival goes, The Resident Season 3 Episode 7 ended with her eyes opening, and we can release a sigh of relief that one of the cutest love stories on the series is still going strong.
In other news, is there a sign-up sheet for punching both Cain and his new lackey Logan in the face? I want in.
It may be a long line, though, and Conrad and Bell could be at the front of it. Ironically, it seems likely that Bell will swing first.
He was on edge and distraught throughout this hour, and if looks could kill, Logan would probably be deader than the dead.
But first, Jessica.
It's a comfort that the delightful Jessica Miesel is still sticking around. While she's...
