We’ve been craving it. They’ve teased it. The legendary French duo, Justice, has been promising new material for 2016 and we’ve been left frothing at the thought. Keeping the hype at a rolling boil, Justice just made a surprise appearance on Busy P’s Nts radio show for a two hour guest mix, twisting our arms with more anticipation.
This mix is everything that isn’t Hardwell, Snails, or Diplo, contorting disco, house, synth rock, and a slew of sub-genres into one eclectic treat. Spanning the decades, the mix packs the best from Nicolas Godin, Hudson Mohawk, Mr Oizo, Death From Above 1979, Jackson and His Computer Band, and so many more. Press play above, and get caught up on some dance music history.
As if that wasn’t enough, Justice has already cast their dominion over New Year’s Eve, scheduling a DJ set alongside Gesaffelstein and...

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 won’t be released for the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 on the same date as the Xbox One or PlayStation 4 version, Activision has announced.
As is becoming the norm, it seems, last-gen versions of cross-generation titles are receiving less and less precedence over current ones. It does make sense, after all. The Xbox One and PS4 are now the primary console platforms, and while Activision haven’t stated whether the development of the last-gen version of Tony Hawk will be outsourced to another studio – it wouldn’t come as any surprise if it has.
The current-gen version is still on course for an October 2 release, with the 360 and PS3 versions following a month later in November.
In addition to the above news, Activision have also released the entire track list that’ll you be listening to while skating and grinding your way around town. Check it...

If Death From Above 1979 had finished their music video for the song "Dead Womb" (from their first, five-song Ep "Heads Up" in 2002) the duo had a plan to try and get some air time for it. They were going to tie the tape of "Dead Womb" to a brick "and throw it through a window at MuchMusic," the Canadian music/comedy TV network, headquartered in their hometown Toronto. Nothing ever came of The Plan, because Sebastien Grainger and Jesse Keeler couldn't managed to shine off the video. But now, you can see what... glories could have been, should that brick have made it way into the Much channel building. Today, HitFix debuts unreleased footage of "Dead Womb," which is featured in the new documentary centered on the noisy dance-punk band, "Life After Death From Above 1979." "We filmed ['Dead Womb'] at my dad's work after hours (in a warehouse) when no one was around one weekend,...

As we previously reported, album sales are at a record all-time low in the U.S. Last week, album sales totaled 3.97 million for the week, marking the first time the tally has dropped below 4 million, unprecedented in the SoundScan era (which kicked off with tracking sales data in 1991). Billboard -- who has a partnership with SoundScan -- is the first to report album and sales news, the good, the bad and the ugly. Today it was reported that sales are slightly up from that grim news last week, 5% only (to 4.2 million), due to Ariana Grande's fresh "My Everything." But still, that makes it trending low, which Ed Christman said is only to be expected. "The weekly average number of album sales fell from 4.75 million units in the first quarter to 4.55 million units in the second quarter. In the first 8 weeks of the third quarter, the average has fallen further to 4.2 million.

If there was ever a man who strode this earth that epitomized the opposite of Twitter culture, it was Stompin' Tom Connors. Yet the Canadian music icon who passed away suddenly on March 6 at the age of 77 nonetheless became a trending topic as his countrymen and women let fly their sadness in 140 character bursts.
And not just regular folk either, but Connors' musical peers who clearly respected the man whose 300 song catalogue was like an encyclopedia of Canadiana. Everyone from legendary children's entertainer Raffi to hipster icons Death From Above 1979 found themselves expressing their mourning on Twitter.
Here's a collection of reactions from the Canadian musicians who saw Stompin' Tom Connors as an ideal to aspire to. R.I.P.

Death from Above 1979 is a band of its word. After announcing in September that they would be performing new tracks during their Canadian tour, the band delivered two new songs and an “Encore Final Jam” at a show in Ontario last night. The tracks are the band’s first new material since 2004’s You’re a Woman, I’m a Machine, Death from Above 1979’s first and only full-length album....

After five years apart, Death From Above 1979 reunited in 2011 to perform at various festivals like Coachella. Apparently all that went pretty well, as the group is still together and, according to the group, even writing new songs. And soon enough, they’ll be testing those songs out on the road: In a post on the duo’s blog, member Sebastian Grainger writes, “We’re going to throw our little musclebound babies to the lions and see who survives. We tried just jumping into the studio, but the songs lacked spirit. They lacked life.” Unfortunately for American fans, it ...

I apologise in advance, though not that far in advance seeing as this is the start, if this review is somewhat curt and to the point. A stark contrast to usual rambling passages of inanity that my reviews tend to entail. I’ve a busy schedule at the moment – who’d have thought moving could be so hectic? I’d thought it was a simple case of just fucking off, but apparently not. I mean, just touching upon the highlights, there’s packing (a gathering together of useless crap, shit clothes, food, bottles of spirits and all of my books – they matter most, besides alcohol), there’s trying to rush finish a bunch of Open College of Arts modules that I sort of implied on my Uni application would be finished by the start of the course, there’s generally having to be both hyperactively excited and paralytically anxious simultaneously,...

4 (four; /ˈfɔər/) is a number, numeral, and glyph. It is the natural number following 3 and preceding 5.
There it is then.
Four.
The number.
Just another number. One of an infinite amount in fact. So what’s its significance? Why should Bloc Party use it as the title of their latest release? Their comeback album even. Well, I mean there’s the glaringly obvious fact that this is their fourth album. Though that’s too easy for Bloc Party, too straightforward. I mean there could well be a basis in that simple fact, but it seems more significant than that.
Given the tensions running through the band around the time of their last album, Intimacy, subsequently leading to the hiatus that this album sees them returning from, Four as an album has more of an importance to the band and their career, than just any other fourth album.
