Life of Pi is a film directed by Ang Lee and starring Suraj Sharma.
Life of Pi is my favorite movie so don´t expect anything except wild acclaim for it.
Story line
After a shipwreck a boy is forced to live with a Bengal tiger in a lifeboat with no other options but to get along with each other.
The Movie
Life of Pi… what a marvelous movie! I have seen it several times and yesterday I couldn´t resist the temptation of watching it again and it is still as great as ever. Visually it is prodigious and what it tells… original, interesting, mystical and profound. It has everything to merit my five stars. One of the best movies I have ever seen.
Let us start with the story. We get to know Pi (with a sense of humor) and his family, who own a zoo. Unfortunately, the...

The cinematically grandeur hall of fame that is known as the Sanjay Leela Bhansali epics has another film to its feature wall. The era, the costumes, the sets… everything is at the scale of the veteran filmmaker modus operandi. Yet there is something about Bajirao Mastani that doesn’t fall into the niche as perfectly as its predecessors. It isn’t that Bhansali isn’t appropriate as a director for the historical and politically enticing tale of forbidden love. But somewhere in the research for the costumes, dialect, history and big screen adaptation of Nagnath S Inamdar’s Marathi novel Rau, we have missing pieces that point back to the veteran and his writing team, which includes himself, Mallika Dutt Gharde and Prakash Kapadia.
The story of love that destroyed the lovers themselves but stood strong in their hearts is quite familiar to most. We have enough examples. Bajirao Mastani...

Mumbai, March 18: Ayush Tandon, the boy who endeared himself to millions in "Life Of Pi", for which director Ang Lee won an Oscar, has now taken up a challenging role of a demoralised boy who later became one of the youngest and finest missile scientists in forthcoming biopic "Harry".
The biopic will see how a young boy Hirji, who was not only demoralised, but had severe speech impediment and minus-20 percent academic performance, becomes one of the youngest and finest missile scientist, and then the highest paid software developer in Britain. He achieved it all through his grit and willpower.

The versatile Ang Lee brings Yann Martel's tale of shipwreck and spirituality to the big screen in magnificent fashion
The Taiwan-born Ang Lee rapidly established himself in the 1990s as one of the world's most versatile film-makers, moving on from the trilogy of movies about Chinese families that made his name to Jane Austen's England (Sense and Sensibility) and Richard Nixon's America (The Ice Storm). If he revisits a place or genre it's to tell a very different story – a martial arts movie in medieval China (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) is followed by a spy thriller in wartime Shanghai (Lust, Caution), and a western with a Us civil war background (Ride With the Devil) is succeeded by a western about a gay relationship in present-day Wyoming (Brokeback Mountain).

Life Of Pi | West Of Memphis | Pitch Perfect | Boxing Day | Dabangg 2
Life Of Pi (PG)
(Ang Lee, 2012, Us) Suraj Sharma, Irrfan Khan, Ayush Tandon, Rafe Spall, 127 mins
All that was missing from Yann Martel's 2001 novel was the visuals, and boy does this provide them. In Lee's hands the tall tale of an Indian boy stranded on a lifeboat with a tiger is credible, captivating and, above all, ravishing to behold. It's rare to see big special effects seriously applied to something so non-generic, and the result is a one-off story teeming with life, colour and action – from gripping shipwreck action to close-up tiger terror to hallucinogenic ocean wonders.
West Of Memphis (15)
(Amy Berg, 2012, Nz/Us) 147 mins
Viewers of the Paradise Lost trilogy will already be familiar with the case of the West Memphis Three: teens accused, then convicted, of killing three young boys in a supposed Satanic ritual in 1993 despite highly questionable evidence.

Irrfan Khan is on a roll this year, first off his role in The Amazing Spiderman and now he features in the cinematic adaptation of Yann Martell’s best selling novel Life of Pi. Both films are two of this years biggest Hollywood films and now having already worked with two Oscar winning directors, Danny Boyle and Ang Lee, Irrfan Khan is clearly becoming the International Indian actor of choice.
Ang Lee’s film charts the journey of a young boy called Pi’s, who is shipwrecked across the Pacific Ocean and explores his fascinating relationship and survival instinct with Bengal Tiger Richard Parker, the only companion and survivor on his lifeboat for 227 days. Irrfan Khan plays the older Pi, who recounts his life-changing story to a writer played by British actor Rafe Spall. Here’s what he had to share…

Life Of Pi
Stars: Suraj Sharma, Irrfan Khan, Rafe Spall, Adil Hussain, Tabu, Ayush Tandon | Written by: David Magee | Directed by: Ang Lee
Ang Lee’s latest film is based on the award-winning novel, by Yann Martel, which tells a story a writer goes in search of, after being told it’ll make him believe in God. Narrated by the subject of that story, it tells the incredible tale of Piscine Molitor Patel, known as Pi, a boy from Pondicherry in India, who survived for over seven months at sea on a lifeboat with a tiger.
Life of Pi was considered to be one of the more difficult books to adapt into a film, possibly because of the challenges of filming the majority of the scenes, which are set in the Pacific Ocean. But with the technology we have now, it’s all possible. CGI is now just an accepted part of big budget film-making,...

Life of Pi
Starring Irrfan Kahn, Suraj Sharma, Ayush Tandon
Directed by Ang Lee
Rated PG-13
I bought a paperback copy of The Life of Pi by Yann Martel some seven years ago and never actually got around to reading it. When it came to me to review the film, I decided to read the book beforehand to better understand how a supposedly unfilmable book could become a successful motion picture. Having both read the book and seen the movie, I have to admit I'm still not entirely sure what to say. It's a success, there's no doubt about that, but it's difficult to say why or how.
No matter what medium, Life of Pi is the story of Piscine Molitor Patel (played at different ages by Irrfan Kahn, Suraj Sharma, and Ayush Tandon), the son of a zoo keeper in Pondicherry, India. His family decides to move to Canada,...

Film: "Life of Pi"; Director: Ang Lee; Cast: Irrfan, Suraj Sharma, Tabu, Adil Hussain, Ayush Tandon, Gerard Depardieu, Rafe Spall; Rating:***
A much−awaited film released amidst a lot of buzz, 'Life of Pi', is thought−provoking too. It makes you debate the existence of God and ponder over human values.
In a way, that is the crux of the film, as Ang Lee sets out to convey this message through his protagonist Pi Patel, in a visually powerful and aesthetic film.
In a poignant, yet, simply told story, of animal instinct vs intrinsic human values of trust and friendship, which involuntarily tugs at your heart strings, Lee seamlessly amalgamates God's three creations − man, animal and nature.

It’s a movie about a kid stuck on a slightly big lifeboat with a Bengal tiger. How bad could it be? Especially when there are CG flying fish around. I mean, CG flying fish! I wish I could catch one of these days. What kind of bait would you use? Flying cheese? Nightcrawlers? Anyways, check out the first clip from Ang Li’s “Life of Pi”, featuring intro by the director himself. Four years in the making? I can believe that. After all, it probably took him four years to convince someone to let him make this thing. The story of an Indian boy named Pi, a zookeeper’s son who finds himself in the company of a hyena, zebra, orangutan, and a Bengal tiger after a shipwreck sets them adrift in the Pacific Ocean. Starring Suraj Sharma, Tobey Maguire, Gérard Depardieu, Irrfan Khan, Tabu, Adil Hussain, Ayush Tandon,...

Critics are eating up Ang Lee's "Life of Pi" following its Nyff debut on Friday. Raves praising the film's immersive, spectacular use of 3-D, its inspirational pantheistic message and strong performances from the three actors playing Pi are in the majority, with a few outliers wishing for heftier substance over CG smoke and mirrors. Review roundup below. Here's coverage and video of the "Life of Pi" Nyff press conference and a Q & A with ex-Fox co-chairman Tom Rothman (below). And in the latest Oscar Talk Podcast, Anne Thompson and Kris Tapley discuss the film's Oscar chances. Todd McCarthy, The Hollywood Reporter: Lee looked at 3,000 candidates for the role (deliberately avoiding Bollywood talent) and found an unknown whose emotional facility is quite impressive. Ayush Tandon is captivating as the sponge that is young Pi, but absolutely imperative to the film’s success are the heart, lucidity and gravity Irrfan Khan provides.

Mesmerizing and brilliant work of art opens The New York Film Festival on the evening of September 28.
Most film lovers are well aware or smart enough to understand that adapting novels into features can be a difficult process. When it’s a well received or beloved piece of work, such as Yann Martel’s Life of Pi, the translation can be even trickier. Quite often, you have loyal fans who feel specific details that either they found precious or deeply connected with, must be preserved in the translation. To do so for everything would be nearly impossible and disastrous for the final product, which in fact is a narrative feature, a completely different medium. Life of Pi has passed through the hands of many directors who were candidates to helm the film, some of them unlikely choices, others, seemingly brilliant. It’s been a little over ten years since Martel...

Ang Lee's Life of Pie movie gets a first poster, which is just the image from the film. The image itself is wonderful, but we've seen this before and I was expecting something a little more intriguing for the Twentieth Century Fox release. The adventure drama opens November 21st, 2012, with a cast including Tobey Maguire, Irrfan Khan and Tabu, Gérard Depardieu. Siraj Sharma, Adil Hussain and Ayush Tandon. Life of Pi is a magical adventure story centering on Pi Patel, the precocious son of a zookeeper. Dwellers in Pondicherry, India, the family decides to move to Canada, hitching a ride on a huge freighter. After a shipwreck, Pi is found adrift in the Pacific Ocean on a 26-foot lifeboat with a zebra, a hyena, an orangutan and a 450-pound Bengal tiger named Richard Parker, all fighting for survival.

Leave it to Ang Lee to make a movie about a kid stranded on a lifeboat with a bunch of zoo animals, including one ferocious, hungry 450 lb Bengal tiger. But that’s what the director of “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” has done with “The Life of Pi”, an adaptation of the hard-to-adapt book by Yann Martel. Here’s your first look at the 3D movie, featuring star Suraj Sharma and his pet tiger. The tiger, along with all the animals in the movie, are supposed to be CG. Yes, that’s a CG tiger right there. I guess it would be kind of hard to make a real tiger “act” on a boat. He might get, you know, frustrated, and you probably don’t want a 450 lb Bengal tiger getting “frustrated” around you. It co-stars Tobey Maguire, Gérard Depardieu, Irrfan Khan, Tabu, Adil Hussain, and Ayush Tandon. The story of...
