Halle Berry can’t let go of psychological thrillers.
The Oscar winner turned up in Las Vegas on Wednesday during Lionsgate’s studio presentation to promote its new film, Alexandre Aja’s Never Let Go, which brings Berry back into a genre she explored more than 20 years ago, in earlier work like Gothika. But this one pushed her to new limits.
Set for release on Sept. 27, Never Let Go centers on a mother and her twin sons as they try to protect themselves from evil lurking in and around their home. Needing to stay connected at all times — always by a connection of ropes — they hold tight to one another and never let go. However, one of the boys questions if the evil is real, triggering a terrifying fight for survival. Anthony B. Jenkins, Percy Daggs, Matthew Kevin Anderson, Christin Park and Stephanie Lavigne also star.

Update: A trailer for Never Let Go was shown during the Lionsgate panel at CinemaCon today, and JoBlo’s own Lance Vlcek was in attendance. Here’s a description of what he saw: “Halle Berry and her two kids are living in a cabin after the world ends. This cabin has a rope/pulley system & they must be attached to you when leaving the house. The monsters/entities (they are very vague on what the threat is but its something that is physical) can’t get you with the rope attached to you and so they (monsters?) are trying to convince one child to doubt the rope safety. They want them to detach and if so, we see that it would put them in grave danger. The kids are twins born in a house that they have never left because of the dangers on the outside. The creatures (which you...

Rosamund Pike is getting brutally honest about the wellness industry.
The Academy Award nominee, 44, recently talked with The Guardian, where she discussed her audio drama, “People Who Knew Me”, which airs on BBC Sounds.

Stephen King’s short story The Boogeyman is about a man named Lester Billings, who visits a psychiatrist after his children have been killed by the title character. Director Rob Savage’s version of The Boogeyman, which is in theatres now, goes far beyond the story King wrote – but Lester Billings is in the movie, played by David Dastmalchian (The Suicide Squad). During an interview with Collider, Dastmalchian revealed that he initially turned down the offer to play Billings because he didn’t want to go as far into the darkness as the character required.
Dastmalchian said, “I read (the script) and I said, ‘Absolutely not. No interest in portraying Lester Billings. I don’t care to go there. I’ve done too much stuff in the darkness. I need a break, and I can’t do it.’ And then (producer Dan Cohen) is many things, a gifted producer, a wonderful human being,...

Vivien Lyra Blair played a child version of the iconic Star Wars character Princess Leia Organa in the six episode Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi, and now she has a prominent role in the Stephen King adaptation The Boogeyman, which reaches theatres tomorrow, June 2nd. You shouldn’t expect to see Blair wielding a lightsaber in the film – but during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, director Rob Savage revealed that her character did carry a lightsaber around in the script… but Star Wars owners Disney didn’t want them to put a lightsaber in the movie.
Answering a question about the moon ball that Blair’s character actually has in the movie, Savage said, “It’s a real thing that you can buy from Amazon. So we bought a few of them, cracked them open and put a light inside that we could control and dial up and down. But the interesting thing about that,...

The Boogeyman is made for those of us who remember freaking out as kids over the possibility that monsters not only existed but were hiding in the closet or under the bed. I blame Stephen King for my night terrors, and now another of King’s short stories is about to become fodder for even more nightmares.
20th Century Studios’ new trailer shows a dad trying to convince his kid that there’s nothing to be afraid of. Of course he’s wrong and, of course, it’s the kid who has to pay the price as the target of a terrifying supernatural presence.
The new trailer arrived along with a suitably creepy poster in support of the horror film’s upcoming June 2, 2023 theatrical release.
Sophie Thatcher (Yellowjackets), Chris Messina (Birds of Prey), Vivien Lyra Blair (Obi-Wan Kenobi), Marin Ireland (The Umbrella Academy), Madison Hu (Bizaardvark), LisaGay Hamilton (Vice), and David Dastmalchian (Dune) star.

The trailer for Stephen King’s “The Boogeyman” has arrived and one thing is for sure, we’re ready to double check for monsters under the bed.
The debut trailer for the new horror film, which debuted during Fox’s broadcast of the NFL NFC championship game, introduces Will (Chris Messina) getting ready to tuck his daughter, Sawyer (Vivien Lyra Blair) into bed, before he checks the closet one last time to make sure no monsters have crept in. “Monster check complete,” Will says before exiting Sawyer’s well-lit room.
Just moments into her slumber, however, Sawyer feels the presence of something sinister in her room — strong enough to grab the attention of her older sister and high schooler, Sadie (Sophie Thatcher), who second guesses her practical nature when she experiences the presence herself.

The studio debuted a fraction of the trailer during Fox’s broadcast of the NFC championship game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the San Francisco 49ers. A full version was subsequently released online Sunday afternoon.
The film is adapted from Stephen King’s 1978 short story of the same name, which had previously been made into a 2005 feature. “Black Swan” screenwriter Mark Heyman and “A Quiet Place” writing duo Scott Beck and Bryan Woods have taken King’s story into their own hands for the new film.

The new Evil Dead movie Evil Dead Rise was made for release through the HBO Max streaming service, but when it received high scores at a test screening the decision was made to give it a theatrical release instead. Now the same thing has happened to the Stephen King adaptation The Boogeyman. Last year’s release Smile was another film that went from a streaming release (it was made for Paramount+) to a theatrical release due to a positive test screening. That move definitely paid off for Smile, which ended up making over 200 million at the global box office.

The Boogeyman, the adaptation of a Stephen King short story by Disney arm 20th Century Studios, is getting a theatrical release after initially being made for the company’s streaming service Hulu.
The movie, directed by Rob Savage and produced by 21 Laps, the banner behind Stranger Things, had a surprisingly muscular test screening in December that made studio executives and producers reconsider their release strategy. (They also showed the movie to King, along with the new plans, who gave them a thumbs-up.)
The horror thriller will now open in theaters June 2.
The move also has echoes of what occurred with Smile, the horror movie directed by Parker Finn that was originally intended for Paramount+, but a strong test screening altered its destiny. The movie, made for only 17 million, received a theatrical release from Paramount last fall and became one of the standard-bearers for the latest rise of horror when it grossed over 216 million worldwide.

The tale of the young, star-crossed lovers known as "Romeo & Juliet" has been told and retold for centuries, but Hulu and 20th Century Studios have a whole new perspective to bring to the table. In a comedic twist on William Shakespeare's classic romantic tragedy, the tale of "Romeo & Juliet" is being retold through the lens of Rosaline, the gal Romeo was exclusively dating before he ran into Juliet at a party and completely turned his entire life (and family) upside down. Rosaline is devastated when she learns that her boyfriend has left her for someone new, and goes on a mission to break the two of them up and win back the man of her dreams.
"Rosaline" looks to be taking the anachronistic approach of Baz Luhrmann's "Romeo + Juliet" and inverting it, with classic period garb and set dressings injected with contemporary language and sensibilities.

Everyone knows the story of Romeo and Juliet, but what about Romeo’s spurned lover, Rosaline? She’s been pushed to the side and forgotten about…until now. The new trailer for 20th Century Studios’ Rosaline tells the story of Romeo and Juliet from Rosaline’s point of view.
The trailer shows poor Rosaline is upset that her boyfriend is using the same lovely words to woo Juliet that he used on her just three days prior. Rosaline’s the one who’s supposed to be Romeo’s great love and future wife, yet Romeo doesn’t seem to care one iota that he’s so easily replaced her with her very own cousin. Damn the man.
