His professional journey began as a DJ/Turntablist in the mid-1990s, which led him down a path into the recording studio and eventually, as a Music Producer. For ten years, he created under the moniker DJ Element and produced a fusion of Hip Hop, Electronic Music, and Jazz, in which a handful of his tracks were placed for commercial purposes. In 2018, after taking a long sabbatical from music, Mark reignited his passion and discovered his true call sign, Kuryente, which means electricity in Tagalog. As a Techno artist, he combines raw beats and hard grooves to forge a driving sound that is uniquely his own.
An active member of the arts community within New York's Hudson Valley, Mark fostered genuine community partnerships resulting in successful concurrent appointments to the Arts and Cultural Commission and Board Member of Orange County New York Arts Council over 4 years. A creative change agent to the core, Mark is eager to merge both experiences in entrepreneurship and education in future ventures to leverage his creative language and experiential teaching strategies within spaces of traditional, emerging, and experimental media.
