It’s back to the glory hole for the “Gold Rush” gang. But first, Parker Schnabel and the boys need to move his incredibly huge and expensive new wash plant. How huge, you ask? It’s 90,000 pounds and 70 feet long. How pricey? Just $600,000. Rick’s got this … right? Well, it certainly doesn’t help that this sucker needs to hang over a cliff to be operational. Maybe that explains why Parker says he’s feeling “incredibly nervous … super uneasy” in the above clip, which is exclusive to TheWrap. Story versus gameplay is a debate that will always come down to personal preference. Most titles will lean more in a certain direction, with genres like visual novels and episodic games very much pulling towards the narrative side. Highway Blossoms is under the kinetic novel category. The most player input it can offer is pushing the spacebar to progress dialogue. So, we’re just here to relax and appreciate the story this time.
Highways Blossoms is a yuri (lesbian) tale seen through the eyes and thoughts of Amber. She’s traveling in her motor-home, lost in thought about her Grandfather’s recent passing. A hitchhiker catches her eye, who turns out to be a cute girl named Marina, traveling in search of gold. Over the course of his career, M. Night Shyamalan has shown a deft hand with horror and suspense, a major tone-deafness with interpersonal drama, and a slippery grasp on anything approaching humor. These attributes come out to varying degrees depending on which Shyamalan joint you’re watching, but never has the writer/director thrown himself at a little bit of everything with the perplexing abandon he does in The Visit. Not just a horror-comedy, the film is a sort of horror-comedy-drama from the mind of a man who can’t pick which of those genres to focus on and displays no ability to balance or blend them.

On Friday, March 7, after the first part of the "Gold Rush" Season 4 finale aired on Discovery Channel, fans worried about the health of legendary Alaskan miner John Schnabel, the beloved "grandpa" of 19-year-old miner Parker Schnabel, who's been working this season for equally legendary Canadian miner Tony Beets in the Klondike.
The elder Schnabel was undergoing treatment for a recurrence of cancer, and fans rushed to the Internet, concerned that something terrible had happened to the kindly 94-year-old, whose gentle manner, sage advice and obvious love for his grandson have endeared him to viewers' hearts.
But Parker assuaged fans' fears, tweeting, "My grandpa is way more of a bada** than I'll ever be."
And by the end of the episode, Schnabel and both grandsons -- Payson and Parker -- were back at Smith Creek, part of a family claim deeded to them jointly by Schnabel (according to him, 49 percent to each grandson,...

When he was 12 years old, Alaskan Parker Schnabel, now 19, of Discovery's Friday hit "Gold Rush" saved a life.
According to JuneauEmpire.com, back in the winter of 2006, Schnabel was flying with his beloved grandfather, miner John Schnabel, when he spied Jay Blair, a snowboarder who had gotten lost and spent a night outdoors in frigid conditions. Too exhausted to even wave for help, Blair struck rescue gold when Schnabel spotted him from the air and alerted the pilot.
So even as a pre-teen, Schnabel had a combination of luck and the ability to see what others might miss.
Now on his own, away from his grandpa's advice -- and having invested his college fund to mine this summer in the Klondike with mentor Tony Beets -- Schnabel is having to call upon his skills and acquire more to dig success out of the earth in the far North.

The quest for Southern Hemisphere riches ends -- at least for now -- on Friday, Aug. 30, with the finale of the summer series "Gold Rush: South America."
The spinoff of Discovery Channel's hit reality series "Gold Rush" premiered on Aug. 2 and continued its predecessor's habit of finding viewers, becoming the day's No. 1 cable show among adults ages 25-54 and men ages 25-54 and No. 2 in all of television among men 24-54 and men 18-49.
The regular "Gold Rush" series has its fourth season premiere in October.
In a TV universe where it's often difficult to get men to give up their video games and sports to actually sit down and watch reality or scripted television, "Gold Rush" has succeeded by following a motley bunch of gold miners seeking to make a fortune by finding the precious metal.
It also helps that the men do it by driving around huge earth-moving equipment.
