- From birth until age 11, inmates in their orange suits cut Celeste's families grass every Saturday. Her father was the warden of Joliet Correctional Center, which worked closely with Stateville Correctional Center another maximum security prison.
- At age 5, Celeste's family moved to a different correctional based house, where she could see Stateville Correctional Center from her bedroom window for 7 years.
- The first house Celeste ever lived in was surrounded by a prison barbed wire fence, directly next to Joliet's Juvenile Detention Center also fenced in.
